Amy Schumer has jokingly sent her personal trainer a cease and desist letter following an “extreme and unduly” workout.
The Trainwreck star has been working hard to get back into shape following the birth of her son Gene in May.
But in a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Schumer admitted it had been tough going through workout sessions with her trainer AJ Fisher, and had drafted in her lawyer Isaac Dunham to send the exercise expert a faux legal document.
Alongside a screenshot of the letter Fisher received, which stated that Schumer had been unable “to perform simple daily tasks like walking and picking up her child as a result of such ‘exercise'”, the 38-year-old explained on her 3 Girls, 1 Keith podcast that the entire letter was an elaborate joke.
“On @3girls1keith this week I mentioned that as a joke I had my lawyer and who I love, draft a cease and desist to my trainer @ajcorectology because I thought the workouts were so hard. I jokingly threatened to do it during our workouts for months. This is it!” she wrote. “I love my lawyer and I once, without his permission bought him bench ad space on his route to work. He had a good reaction to it and wasn’t mad and sent this picture. AJ is an amazing trainer and is the reason I feel strong and good and have recovered from my herniated discs and C-section.”
Schumer concluded her post: “Was this is a wasteful use of resources? Very, very much so but it brought me so much joy.”
In the joke cease and desist letter, Schumer had Dunham ask Fisher to end her “torment” of the actress.
“We are the attorneys for Amy Schumer, an internationally known actress, comedian, and high-profile public figure,” the letter reads. “It has come to our attention that while Ms. Schumer has engaged you to perform simple physical training for her, you have instead forced Ms. Schumer to perform extreme and unduly punishing physical exercises well outside the bounds of normal physical training.”
