Evan Rachel Wood has slammed Cats, telling her fans the movie is “actually worse than I thought it would be”.

Tom Hooper’s star-studded movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage musical received scathing reviews from critics last week, and the Westworld actress added to the negative reaction on social media on Thursday.

“(Cats) is actually worse than I thought it would be. And I already thought it would be horrible. But….I am actually speechless. Why would you change the choreography? I…am SPEECHLESS,” she wrote, referencing the routines in the original stage musical.

Wood later deleted her tweet, as well as another post in which she stressed the cast, which includes Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, and Ian McKellen, weren’t to blame for the movie’s problems.

She then shifted to Instagram and posted an expletive-filled video of her “live reaction” to the film, in which she laughed and repeatedly exclaimed “What the f**k?!”

The star later went into detail about her misgivings with the movie, laying the blame with changes to choreography, plot, and characters.

“They changed all the iconic choreography. Took out 70 per cent of the main characters. Changed the plot. I grew up in theatre. I was married to a dancer. I have massive respect for what they do, which is why this was such a letdown and missed opportunity for that community,” the 32-year-old wrote, referencing her marriage to Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell.

Jason Derulo has defended the movie, in which he plays Rum Tum Tugger, telling TMZ.com that “reviews don’t matter” while James Corden, who plays Bustopher Jones, said on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show that he hadn’t seen the film but had heard “it’s terrible”.

Following the overwhelmingly negative reviews, Universal bosses have removed Cats from its For Your Consideration page, meaning they are no longer putting it forward for awards consideration, while a source has told Variety that the film also isn’t featured on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ streaming platform, where members can watch Oscar contenders.

Cats has currently earned one nomination – the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for Beautiful Ghosts, written by Swift and Lloyd Webber.

Jamie Bell is set to reunite with Michael B. Jordan for new movie Without Remorse.

The 33-year-old British actor is in final negotiations to join Paramount’s adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel, according to Variety. If his deal is finalised, it will mark a reunion between Bell and Jordan, who last appeared together in the critically-panned Fantastic Four reboot in 2015, alongside Miles Teller and Kate Mara.

Jordan was previously cast as operations officer John Clark, also known as John Terrence Kelly, a former Navy SEAL who goes to work for the CIA. Bell would portray Robert Ritter, the deputy director of operations at the CIA who helped recruit Clark upon his return to the U.S. after his haunting mission in Vietnam.

Director Stefano Sollima is at the helm of Without Remorse, while Sicario screenwriter Taylor Sheridan is penning the script, with Jordan, Akiva Goldsman, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec serving as producers.

And in an attempt to build a film franchise around Jordan’s role as Clark, the 32-year-old will also lead the movie adaptation of Clancy’s novel Rainbow Six, with production scheduled to begin towards the end of this year.

The character has appeared in 17 of Clancy’s novels, including Clear and Present Danger.

Bell recently starred as neo-Nazi Bryon Widner in Skin and in the Elton John biopic Rocketman as the pop icon’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin.

Jordan is currently starring in Just Mercy, alongside Oscar winners Jamie Foxx and Brie Larson, which tells the true story of Walter McMillian, who successfully appealed his murder conviction in the 1990s with the help of lawyer Bryan Stevenson.

Jamie Bell feared for his life while playing real-life neo-Nazi Bryon Widner in Skin.

The independent movie is based on writer-director Guy Nattiv’s Oscar-winning short of the same name, and follows the former white supremacist as he begins to rethink his allegiance to the white power movement.

Commentators in the U.S. have blamed the rise of racist attacks and white supremacy in the U.S. on President Donald Trump, and Bell revealed he was terrified while making the movie, as he was worried he would be targeted.

“I was very scared, honestly,” the 33-year-old said in an interview with The Big Ticket podcast. “There was a lot of fear and trepidation about doing this movie. I was worried. I think that these are a group of people that are not to be messed with, really. They are organised, they’re armed.”

The father-of-two went on to reference the white supremacist Unite the Right rally which was held in 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“They’ve shown and they continue to show that they are people who don’t mind being out in the daylight. They don’t care that their faces are out there carrying torches, saying things they they’re saying, carrying the slogans that they’re carrying. So, just from a literal sense of safety, I was afraid,” he confessed.

Bell went on to reveal that he spoke to Widner on Skype for the first time on the same day that white supremacist James Alex Fields Jr. deliberately drove his car into a crowd of protesters, killing Heather Heyer and wounding many others.

Bell was so spooked by the deadly event that he called Nattiv and begged him to reconsider making the movie.

“I said to Guy, ‘I don’t think we should be making this movie, man. I think that it’s too incendiary right now. It’s too explosive’,” Bell recalled.

Jamie Bell: ‘There’s a beautiful vulnerability to Elton John’

Jamie Bell has insisted Elton John’s vulnerability helped Rocketman become a more honest biopic.

In the movie, the 33-year-old plays Bernie Taupin – the Tiny Dancer hitmaker’s longtime songwriter.

Now, Jamie has confessed that he was stunned by the bravery of the project, and how far the story delved into the musician’s tumultuous life.

“I think there’s a beautiful vulnerability to Elton John. He has really laid himself bare for decades, and that certainly hasn’t stopped just because a movie is being made about him. I think he went into this going, ‘If I’m going to do this, I have to show every part of me,’” he explained to Deadline. “So, it can’t be sanitised in any way, and it shouldn’t be. He’s been through some stuff that I think a lot of people also struggle with… I think he would feel like he would be undermining those people who deal with that stuff if it was glossed over, and I appreciate that.

“I was enamoured by how ballsy the project was, to be honest. I was enamoured by how brave I thought the storyline was, the subject matter that this film would cover, and how deep it would dive into his life. It was unafraid to turn over stones and look underneath rocks.”

The movie, directed by Dexter Fletcher and starring Taron Egerton as Elton, candidly looks at the star’s struggle with drink, drugs, and his sexuality.

And Jamie was full of praise for the way the I’m Still Standing hitmaker allowed the biopic to document his highs and lows.

The Billy Elliot actor continued: “I think that’s really, again, a ballsy, brave and courageous way of doing it. He is kind of hanging himself out there for everyone to scrutinise, but I think that is the way that he’s always done it, to a degree. So why stop now?”

Rocketman is now showing in cinemas.

Taron Egerton has confessed he found his wardrobe for the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman “liberating”.

The actor made the comments during an interview for Entertainment Tonight to promote the film, in which he wears outfits ranging from horned and winged bodysuits to feather-covered creations to a sequinned Los Angeles Dodgers uniform.

In particular, Taron claimed he especially enjoyed wearing an outfit comprised of gold hot pants, a gold jacket, and winged boots.

“I found it quite liberating, actually,” the star revealed. “I did, yeah I did, I think there is something quite freeing about just sort of going ‘To hell with it, I am going to wear what I like’.”

Taron posted a picture of him wearing the costume on Instagram to celebrate the Your Song hitmaker’s birthday on 25 March (19), in which he gushed over the singer as being “the most extraordinary person I’ve ever met”.

The 29-year-old went on to confess that the photo dated back to the early stages of the movie, and the music icon’s birthday seemed the perfect time to share it.

“It was an old photo actually,” he admitted. “It was from when we were doing fittings for the film and I have been keeping it back for a special occasion and it felt like the right time.”

Rocketman chronicles the Tiny Dancer star’s journey from obscurity to worldwide acclaim, including his personal struggles with relationships, his sexuality, and addiction.

Taron stars alongside Jamie Bell, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Richard Madden in the movie, which will begin hitting cinema screens on 31 May.

Studio bosses call for nude sex scene to be cut from Rocketman – report

Studio executives have reportedly called for a nude sex scene to be cut from Elton John biopic Rocketman.

Directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall, the upcoming film follows the British superstar’s early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, through to his musical partnership with Bernie Taupin, as well as his struggles with substance abuse, depression, and acceptance of his sexual orientation.

Elton is played by Welsh star Taron Egerton, while Richard Madden takes on the part of his former lover and long-time manager John Reid, however, editors at The Daily Mail have now reported that Paramount Pictures bosses have demanded one raunchy sequence be dropped from the movie. According to writer Baz Bamigboye, the “tastefully done” scene shows John and Reid “writhing on a bed” with fully exposed “derrieres” on display.

“Nonetheless, Paramount are forcing the director to cut the scene so it will have an American PG 13 rating,” he claimed, adding that the PG 13 rating is equivalent to a 12A rating in the U.K.

In addition, The Daily Mail alleged that the moment will now be reduced to a “fully dressed warm hello,” even though John was fine with the film receiving a restricted rating and apparently instructed the producers and director at the start of production: “Tell it all. Go as R-rated as you need to.”

The reason for studio leaders wanting to tone down references to the Sacrifice singer’s relationships may have to do with the success of 2018 Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, in which Fletcher took over as director following the firing of Bryan Singer in December 2017.

Though the feature received mixed reviews from critics, especially in relation to the portrayal of frontman Freddie Mercury’s sexuality, it was a major box office success and won four Oscars, with lead actor Rami Malek taking home the prize for Best Actor.

Representatives for Paramount Pictures have not yet commented on the report.

Rocketman, also starring Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard, is set to hit cinemas in May.

Elton John has never heard someone sing his songs as well as Taron Egerton does in Rocketman.

The upcoming biopic, charting the English singer’s transformation from Reginald Dwight to global superstar Elton John, hits cinemas in May (19), with Taron taking on the lead role, Jamie Bell as his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden playing Elton’s lover and manager John Reid and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mum Sheila.

Talking about the Crocodile Rock singer’s reaction to hearing Welsh actor Taron’s portrayal for him, music producer Giles Martin said in a new teaser trailer for the film: “Elton said I don’t think I have heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron.

“And the great thing about Elton, he wants Taron’s interpretation for the songs.”

And director Dexter Fletcher, who recently won praise for his work finishing Queen flick Bohemian Rhapsody, was blown away by the Kingsman: The Secret Service actor’s vocal ability.

“Taron is actually singing in the film and he’s so convincing. His voice is incredible,” he gushed. “Taron is an actor of incredible range.

In the new 96-second clip, Taron can be heard singing Tiny Dancer.

Taron himself said that playing the musical great has been a truly special experience for him.

“It’s been the greatest joy of my professional life making this film,” the 29-year-old smiled.

“The thing about playing someone so beloved, all we can do is give our heartfelt interpretation of his life and his music. Elton’s song are the defining moments in people’s lives and the songs should all come from a place of character.”

Kate Mara styles all of her own outfits for red carpet events.

The House of Cards actress has a knack for pulling off just about any fashion trend and often steps out in looks which combine edgy garments with more tailored pieces. While Kate previously worked with Hollywood stylist Johnny Wujek on her ensembles, she now prefers to do her own styling.

“I used to work with a stylist, but now I just go to one designer and try things on – it’s easy,” she said during a chat with Riverdale actress Camila Mendes for U.S. InStyle magazine, adding that she can always find something that suits her requirements at a specific Italian fashion house.

“Valentino looks are always very classic, but romantic and ethereal too… Valentino will forever be special to me because Pierpaolo (Piccioli, designer) made me an incredible custom wedding dress.”

Kate, who married her Fantastic Four co-star Jamie Bell in July 2017, also explained that she is “fascinated” by designers and the way in which a particular garment can transform her look or mood. However, she tends to abide by simple outfits when off-duty.

“(My style is) a masculine-feminine mix. Most days I’m in some variation of black pants, usually by Rag & Bone, with a white T-shirt,” the 35-year-old said.

During the chat, Kate divulged that she loves to buy jackets, especially creations from Yigal Azrouel. But when all of her fashion finds start to take over her house, she has no option but to sell them on.

“I use the closet in my husband and I’s bedroom and the one in our guest room. I’m trying to be better about it and do a clean out every month! When I need space, I sell pieces on (luxury consignment website) The RealReal,” she added.

Jamie Bell is set to play songwriter Bernie Taupin in upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman.

To be directed by Dexter Fletcher, the film will explore the music icon’s early years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through to his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie.

Welsh actor Taron Egerton has been tapped to play Elton, with Variety reporting on Wednesday (20Jun18) that Jamie is in final negotiations to portray famed lyricist Bernie.

Elton and Bernie met in 1967 when they both answered an advertisement placed in a U.K. music publication seeking new songwriters. They have since collaborated on more than 30 albums, with Bernie writing lyrics for hit songs such as Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer, Bennie and the Jets, Daniel, and Your Song.

In addition, Bernie rewrote the lyrics to Candle in the Wind in 1997 as a tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Famously, the 1991 documentary Two Rooms described Elton and Bernie’s unconventional writing style, which typically involved Bernie penning the lyrics on his own and Elton later putting them to music, with no interaction between the two.

In recent years, the duo have continued with the same creative process, though Bernie, 68, has joined Elton in the studio as the songs are written and sometimes during recording sessions.

Eddie the Eagle director Dexter will be working from a screenplay written by Lee Hall, with Elton, 71, and his husband David Furnish to produce alongside Kingsman: The Secret Service filmmaker Matthew Vaughn.

On Wednesday, Taron also indicated that production on the flick had begun, posting an image of him in what appears to be a costume with wings on his Twitter page.

“Here we go. #Rocketman @eltonofficial @ParamountPics,” he captioned the snap.

Jamie, who rose to prominence for his debut role in 2000 film Billy Elliot, was most recently seen onscreen in Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, which earned him a BAFTA nomination.

Kate Mara prefers working out to getting a massage.

Actress Kate boasts a slender frame, but admitted in a new interview with Shape magazine that she works hard when it comes to fitness.

“My favourite workout spot is this amazing ballet and Pilates studio called Ballet Bodies in L.A. My trainer, Romi, is a ballerina. I go there five days a week when I’m home. Some days I do the ballet workouts, other days I do Pilates,” she shared.

“I really love exercising – I find it very therapeutic. I always enjoy trying new workouts, but this is by far my favourite. You have to focus so intensely when you’re doing ballet moves, and it’s a great way to clear your brain. Also, it’s about taking time for treating yourself. For me, it’s the equivalent of getting a massage.”

The House of Cards actress is also a strict vegan, and cut out meat products from her diet five years ago after reading The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder.

While she admits she found it hard to cut out cheese at first, Kate, who’s married to English actor Jamie Bell, hasn’t missed eating meat at all.

“(The Beauty Detox Solution) is about how our bodies are not meant to digest animal products and what we should be eating instead,” the 35-year-old explained. “It made a lot of sense to me. I’ve always had a pretty sensitive stomach, but when I cut animal products out of my diet, I felt so much better. Now my healthiest habit is drinking Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie every morning. It sets the tone for the rest of my day. If I don’t have it as my first meal, I find I don’t make healthy choices afterward.”
