Cardi B has finally covered up the name of an ex-boyfriend with a huge butterfly tattoo.
The Bodak Yellow hitmaker took to social media to reveal that up until last month, she still had the name of former lover Samuel inked in red letters on the back of her neck.
Cardi shared a before-and-after shot on Twitter, showing off her new multicoloured butterfly tattoo that now partially covers the name of her ex.
“I never showed ya my cover tatt. What ya think?” she wrote.
While the I Like It rapper hasn’t confirmed who Samuel is, many of her 12.7 million followers speculated that he was a former flame.
During a previous appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cardi revealed that she has tattoos of her boyfriends on her body, but needed to get rid of them after marrying rapper Offset in 2017.
“I have like three different men tatted on me, you know what I’m saying? They gotta go!” she laughed.
Her new butterfly cover-up also matches the recent work she’s had done to refresh her other tattoos, including the ink on her back, and the peacock on her thigh.
The design on her back “took several months” to finish, and extends from “the top of my back to the middle of my thigh,”, and was completed at her home during the Covid-19 lockdown by Californian-based artist Jamie Schene.
“It was an awesome project and a crazy experience. Thanks for the dedication, strength, and hospitality,” he said in a post about the ink session on Instagram.

Cardi B has given her sprawling peacock tattoo a makeover after 10 years.
The Bodak Yellow rapper revealed to her Instagram followers on Monday that she had endured “hours of pain” at the hands of California-based tattoo artist Jamie Schene for the past seven days to give her massive piece of body art an overhaul.
She shared a before and after comparison on Instagram, with the image showing how her old tattoo, which begins at her lower back, covers her right butt cheek, and extends down the back and side of her right thigh, had become dull and faded.
Yet, the update looks vibrant and colourful – besides brightening up the original design, Schene also added more details on the peacock, new floral motifs, and a pink butterfly.
“So after ten years I gave my peacock tattoo a makeover. This whole week I been takin hours of pain getting tatted (sic),” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you @jamie_schene.”
Schene also shared the same snap on his Instagram page and praised Cardi for taking the pain.
“I gave Cardi’s peacock a makeover! Thanks for the trust @iamcardib You’re (sic) strength and determination is inspiring. (Getting tattooed for 7 days in a row is no joke),” he posted.
The 27-year-old showed off the new tattoo in all its glory by uploading an image of her posing in a white bikini and heels. She also surprised fans by rocking a short hot pink hairstyle.
The body art marks the latest collaboration between Cardi and the tattoo artist. Back in May, she unveiled an elaborate tattoo comprised of colourful flowers and birds which begins at the top of her back and ends at the back of her left thigh. In the caption, she revealed the process took “several months”.
