Carey Mulligan felt “intimidated” working with comedians on her upcoming movie Promising Young Woman.

The British actress is best known for her work in serious dramas, such as An Education, Suffragette, and The Great Gatsby – so she felt a little daunted when she had to perform alongside comedians for the dark comedy-drama about a young woman who seeks out vengeance against those who cross her path.

In an interview with U.S. InStyle magazine, the 35-year-old admitted being in a film with a blooper reel was a foreign experience.

“I definitely felt intimidated at first because I was surrounded by comedians like Bo Burnham and Jennifer Coolidge, but we all got on so well” she shared. “(Director) Emerald (Fennell) would say, ‘Just try one where you’re really camping it up.’ It’s the only film I’ve ever been in that has a blooper reel.”

The movie appears to touch on a lot of themes that arose as part of the #MeToo movement, but Mulligan insisted Fennell actually wrote her script before the organisation gained traction in 2017.

“Emerald wrote it before the movement started, but the conversation has become more nuanced in the last couple of years,” she explained. “Everything in the film, you’ve seen in a bro comedy, where the guy tries to get the girl really drunk. And it’s all been like, ‘Haha.’ But then you suddenly look at it through this different lens and go, ‘Actually, no. That makes me uncomfortable.’”

Elsewhere in the chat, the Inside Llewyn Davis star admitted she had a creative crush on Fennell, which is something she has previously experienced with her Mudbound director Dee Rees and An Education co-star Emma Thompson.

“It happened on Mudbound, watching Dee Rees and (cinematographer) Rachel Morrison make an extraordinary epic in 28 days. And again, with Emma Thompson in An Education. There are a lot of people who’ve been quite impactful,” she said.

Promising Young Woman is currently without a release date.

Luke Wilson has not yet discussed a potential Legally Blonde revival with Reese Witherspoon.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Old School actor was asked about the possible third instalment in the hit movie series.

In response, Luke admitted that while he’s “not talked to Reese about it”, he “always kind of hears rumours here and there”.

“Never anything official about them doing another Legally Blonde, but I’d love to do another one,” the 48-year-old continued. “I mean, just that character Reese played was so funny at the time and that has kind of become this iconic character now.”

Luke portrayed Emmett Richmond, the love interest of Reese’s Elle Woods – the naive sorority girl who tries to win back her ex-boyfriend by enrolling in Harvard Law School – in the original 2001 film.

He reprised the role for the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde: Red, White & Blonde, and when it comes to ideas for a third flick, the star is certain the couple will have started a family.

“I would say they definitely have a few children and I just think that it’d be really funny if Reese had a little mini-me, a version of herself,” Luke added. “I would definitely think that they’d have a couple of children.”

Last year, Reese teased the possibility of a third instalment during a chat with Entertainment Tonight and insisted she wanted to reunite the original cast.

“It’s just a development project right now, so we’ll see,” she shared. “I love Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson and Selma Blair and so there’s so many great characters that people love.”

Jennifer Coolidge is open to starring in Legally Blonde 3.

The 58-year-old actress won herself legions of fans playing manicurist Paulette in Legally Blonde in 2001 and its sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, in 2003.

Earlier this year, Reese Witherspoon, who starred as socialite-turned-lawyer Elle Woods in the films, revealed she was developing a third instalment, and her co-star Jennifer has now stated that she’d definitely be keen to reprise her role once again.

“I know that there’s a script that’s in the works, I’m told,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “And I kept seeing all this press about it. I hear that it is going, but I just don’t know what the timeline is. But you know, if I’m asked to do it, I’ll definitely be in there… I would love to play Paulette again.”

The American Pie star reprised the role of Elle’s confidante earlier this year for a cameo appearance in Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next music video, in which the singer portrayed Elle as well as the leading ladies from films such as Mean Girls, Bring It On, and 13 Going on 30.

Jennifer’s admission comes after the Big Little Lies star said she’d love to see her former co-stars come together for the third movie in the franchise.

“I love Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson and Selma Blair and so there’s so many great characters that people love,” Reese continued, also naming the actors who played her onscreen husband Emmett and nemesis Vivian, respectively.

She added: “If we end up doing it, hopefully they end up all being there.”

Reese Witherspoon is hoping to reunite with her original Legally Blonde castmates on the upcoming third movie in the popular franchise.

The actress will reprise her role as Elle Woods, a naive sorority girl who tries to win back her ex-boyfriend by enrolling into Harvard Law School, in the reboot.

Reese’s flick will follow on from the 2001 original and its 2003 sequel, and a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, she speculated over which fan favourites may return for the feature.

“It’s just a development project right now, so we’ll see,” she told reporters at a screening of her new Apple TV+ series The Morning Show at the Paley Center in New York on Tuesday.

“I love Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson and Selma Blair and so there’s so many great characters that people love,” Reese continued, naming Elle’s onscreen pal Paulette, her boyfriend, Emmett, and on/off friend Vivian, respectively.

She added: “If we end up doing it, hopefully they end up all being there.”

Earlier this year, Reese revealed during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she was still working on the project.

“We’re definitely talking about it…,” the 43-year-old said. “I mean it’s sort of about women being underestimated and I think it’s a good idea… Things have changed, but not that much has changed! I love playing that character. She’s so amazing.”

MGM executives previously indicated they are looking to release the third instalment in May 2020.
