Charlize Theron had a diamond bracelet woven into her hair for the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.

The actress, who was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category for Bombshell, but lost out to Judy’s Renee Zellweger, looked stunning in a black and silver Givenchy outfit when she stepped out onto the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

But while Charlize’s ensemble garnered lots of attention, it was the Tiffany & Co. diamond tennis bracelet placed on her centre parting that really had fans talking.

“I didn’t have time to do my roots. So, my lovely friend Adir (Abergel, hairstylist) said, ‘Why don’t we throw a Tiffany necklace or bracelet in there,'” she told People at the event.

The bracelet, costing around $15,000 (£11,500), contained approximately three carats worth of diamonds. Charlize also sported large diamond earrings, bracelets, and rings from the luxury brand.

And in a video posted on his Instagram page, celebrity hairstylist Adir shared a close-up of his handiwork, with it appearing that he had braided the 44-year-old’s hair down the middle, before sewing the bracelet in with thread to secure it.

“Thank you, everyone, for the overwhelming love and messages about this futuristic look. Here’s a closer look at how I attached that beautiful @tiffanyandco tennis bracelet. Shiny hair and diamonds can make anyone happy,” he commented.

Other celebrities to opt for lots of sparkle at the 2020 SAG Awards included Jennifer Lopez, who teamed her elegant Georges Hobeika gown with a beautiful diamond necklace from Harry Winston, Reese Witherspoon, who rocked a one-shoulder crystal-studded Celine dress, and Dakota Fanning, who positively sparkled in a heavily sequined seafoam green Valentino creation.

Jennifer Lopez has channelled Hollywood glamour for Guess’ latest campaign.

The superstar previously fronted the marketing imagery for the fashion brand’s denim line back in 2017 and has also recently landed modelling gigs for the likes of Versace and Coach.

Now, Jennifer is returning to the Guess family as the face of the label’s spring 2020 campaign, with the photos showing her posing in a number of sexy outfits against the backdrop of Santa Monica, California.

“Whenever I do a collaboration, I always think of a character that I can play and be and we had a lot of fun doing that with this campaign,” she explained. “The vibe this time was a mix between an Italian film star from the ’60s, mixed with Madonna from the ’80s, mixed with Sophia Loren. It’s so much fun to get into the character and to make that happen. The clothes and setting of the shoot really worked well together to make this campaign come to life.”

The photoshoot was helmed by photographer Tatiana Gerusova and art directed by Guess’ chief creative officer, Paul Marciano. One image shows Jennifer posing in a lime green belted dress, while another depicts her wearing a purple tropical print dress in front of a palm tree. The 50-year-old also models a summery white outfit and a chic off-white three-piece suit.

Accordingly, Paul noted that he was thrilled with the final result.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jennifer back for a second campaign with Guess and Marciano,” he commented. “Jennifer continues to push boundaries in the music, fashion, and film industries and represents everything a Guess Girl is – confident, sensual and adventurous. This campaign shines a spotlight on Jennifer’s natural beauty and showcases exactly why she is celebrated as a true icon.”

Anne Hathaway made her red carpet return at the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night.

The Oscar-winning actress, who quietly welcomed her second child with husband Adam Shulman late last year, wowed the crowd in a gold sequin gown with a plunging neckline from Versace.

Anne teamed her outfit with Alexandre Birman high heels, Messika jewellery, and a Judith Leiber purse, and took to the stage during the ceremony to present the Best Actor prize to Joaquin Phoenix for his performance in Joker. She was also nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for her role in Modern Love.

Taking to Instagram before the ceremony, Anne posted a mirror selfie in which she showed off her glittering outfit, along with the caption: “Welcome back xx.”

The post quickly racked up thousands of likes and comments, with Camila McConaughey writing, “Looooove!!!!” and Anne’s Ocean’s 8 co-star Mindy Kaling exclaiming, “ANNIE.”

Neither Anne nor Adam has confirmed the birth of their second child, a sibling for their three-year-old son Jonathan. However, the couple was spotted carrying a baby seat while out and about in Connecticut in mid-December.

Meanwhile, other stars to make a splash at the Critics’ Choice Awards included Zendaya, who turned heads in a hot pink Tom Ford ensemble and Christian Louboutin stilettos, Jennifer Lopez, who rocked a nude Georges Hobeika dress and Harry Winston bling, as well as Charlize Theron, who opted for a silver sequin Celine gown and blazer.

Shades of orange were a big trend on the night too, with Laura Dern sporting a tangerine Emilia Wickstead gown, Alison Brie choosing an orange Brandon Maxwell dress, and Rachel Brosnahan stepping out in a Carolina Herrera dress in a similar colour.

Zendaya stole the spotlight in a hot pink breastplate and matching skirt by Tom Ford at the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old, who was nominated in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Rue in the HBO drama Euphoria, stunned as she hit the red carpet wearing the $15,000 (£11,500) bespoke piece from the designer’s spring 2020 collection.

Zendaya complemented the unique creation with a floor-length fuchsia skirt, Mateo New York earrings, Djula rings, and satin pumps by Christian Louboutin. Her stylist, Law Roach, later pointed out that the breastplate was a homage to the vintage pieces by Issey Miyake and Yves Saint Laurent, and called the Spider-Man: Far From Home star a “Warrior Woman” in a post on Instagram.

The piece was also recently worn by Gwyneth Paltrow for the cover of the latest issue of U.S. Harper’s Bazaar magazine, and the Oscar winner took to social media to lavish praise on the young star.

“Thank God I can say I have something in common with Zendaya,” she commented on a picture of the actress wearing the breastplate.

Other famous faces who also rocked bright colours on the red carpet included Booksmart star Beanie Feldstein, who wore a two-tone pastel pink and red dress with open-toe velvet Jimmy Choo platform heels.

Kristen Bell made a bold statement with her neon green caped jumpsuit by Cong Tri, paired with matching heels, while Awkwafina wowed in a bright yellow Ellie Saab gown, which featured a flowing skirt and sleeves, and Stuart Weitzman platform shoes.

Renee Zellweger, who scooped the Best Actress prize at the ceremony for her role in Judy, bucked the colourful trend by wearing a black strapless Dior gown, and Best Actress in a Comedy Series winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge rocked a one-shouldered sheer dress also created by designers at the French fashion house.

Little Women star Florence Pugh was among those who embraced show-stopping glittering gowns for the annual ceremony, wearing a silver sequinned column-style dress by Prada, while Jennifer Lopez opted for an elegant cream cut-out gown with embellishment by Georges Hobeika.

Jennifer Lopez is celebrating her long-running relationship with Versace by becoming the face of the label’s new campaign.

The superstar has been associated with the Italian fashion house since 2000, when she wore the brand’s plunging jungle print dress to the Grammy Awards, with the iconic red carpet outfit leading to the creation of Google Images. She celebrated the look once again in September, when she sported an updated version to close Versace’s catwalk show in Milan.

Now, Jennifer has revealed that she and Versace’s chief creative officer Donatella Versace were celebrating two decades of their professional relationship by collaborating on the brand’s spring/summer 2020 advertising campaign.

“I am so excited I can finally reveal that I am the face of the #VersaceSS20 campaign!” the 50-year-old wrote on Instagram over the weekend. “Thank you to @Donatella_Versace and everyone at @Versace for your vision and collaboration.”

The singer shared pictures from the futuristic campaign, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and showed her posing in various designs in a glass box featuring holograms of a computer keyboard on the walls. She can be seen modelling a new spin on the jungle print design – a plunging jumpsuit with matching blazer – as well as a red minidress and a midriff-baring black number.

“To me, Versace represents empowerment and putting something beautiful out into the world,” she explained in a statement. “It’s a dream to collaborate with my friend Donatella again on this gorgeous campaign.”

Donatella posted various images on Instagram and described her longtime friend as “simply breathtaking” and “stunning”.

“Thank you so much Jennifer for taking part in this project… Love you! #VersaceSS20 #Campaign #JLo @jlo,” the designer wrote.

The campaign, which also features Kendall Jenner, comes amid a successful period in Jennifer’s career. She is currently hitting the awards season circuit for her performance in Hustlers and is preparing to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show with Shakira in February.

Jennifer Lopez’s Hustlers inspiration sues over movie likeness

The real-life stripper who inspired Jennifer Lopez’s character in Hustlers has filed a $40 million (£30.5 million) lawsuit against bosses at the actress’s production firm for using her likeness without permission.

Samantha Barbash, who rejected an offer from film executives to sign off on the rights to her life story for the hit drama, claims the 50-year-old based the part of Ramona on her.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the former adult entertainer goes on to accuse officials of defaming her, as Ramona is portrayed as “using and manufacturing illegal substances in her home where she lived with her child” – something Barbash insists never happened.

She is now suing bosses at Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions company, seeking $20 million (£15.25 million) for compensation, and another $20 million in punitive damages.

“Defendants did not take caution to protect the rights of Ms. Barbash by creating a fictionalised character, or by creating a composite of characters to render J.Lo’s character a new fictitious one; rather they engaged in a systematic effort to make it well-known that J.Lo was playing Ms. Barbash,” the lawsuit states.

Lopez isn’t named in the lawsuit, but she served as one of the producers of the project, which has earned her critical acclaim, including a Golden Globe nomination.

Representatives for Hustlers have yet to comment on the legal action.

The movie is based on a New York Magazine article that went viral in 2015, about a real-life group of exotic dancers who con their wealthy broker clients.

Back in September, Barbash told Vanity Fair she was not impressed with the film and disputed some of the events that were depicted.

BAFTA officials ‘disappointed’ by lack of diversity in nominations

BAFTA officials have admitted they are “disappointed” by the lack of diversity in the nominations for the 2020 British Academy Film Awards.

The nominations for the 2020 ceremony were unveiled on Tuesday morning, revealing that Todd Phillips’s Joker came top with 11 nods, closely followed by Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Martin Scorsese’s gangster epic The Irishman with 10.

Social media users swiftly went online to express their outrage at the all-white acting nominees, with them using the hashtag #BAFTASSoWhite. They blasted BAFTA voters for snubbing the likes of Awkwafina, Jennifer Lopez, Antonio Banderas, and Cynthia Erivo and opting to give Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson two nods each.

BAFTA executives have now admitted they are also disappointed about the all-white shortlist.

“Being totally honest, we are disappointed and that is not to take anything away from the people who have been nominated,” said BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry, according to Press Association. She added that although no female filmmaker made the Best Director shortlist, they were recognised across other categories and this “gives me joy and hope”.

“But we are going to do more, we are not going to stop pushing,” she insisted.

While Marc Samuelson, chairman of BAFTA’s film committee, commented: “Clearly everybody knows that everybody in the four acting groups of nominees are white, it’s infuriating, we can’t make the industry do something, all we can do is encourage and push and inspire and try to help people coming in at the bottom end.”

Samuelson also noted that diversity is improving in other ways, as the percentage of female nominees has risen. However, he did concede, “It doesn’t take anything away from the issue in the acting categories but, nonetheless, it’s something and things are moving.”

The 2020 British Academy Film Awards will be hosted by Graham Norton at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 2 February.

Jennifer Lopez pulled out all of the stops for the 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

The superstar, who was nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture category for her role in Hustlers, turned up to The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California rocking a custom-made white silk Valentino gown with dramatic gold and green bow detailing on the bodice.

Jennifer topped off her look with Harry Winston jewellery, a Judith Leiber bag, and had her brunette locks swept back into a plaited bun – with the hairstyle reminiscent of the look she wore in a key scene in her 2002 film Maid in Manhattan.

The actress, who lost out to Laura Dern for her performance in Marriage Story, was styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, and accompanied by her sportsman fiance Alex Rodriguez on the red carpet. Alex sported a tuxedo for the night, and in a post on Instagram, joked that he looked like the 50-year-old entertainer’s security guard.

“Head of @jlo security, reporting for red carpet duty! @goldenglobes,” he wrote.

Apart from Jennifer’s eye-catching ballgown, a major trend for the night was the colour pink.

Priyanka Chopra, who served as a presenter, opted for a stunning pastel pink off-the-shoulder Cristina Ottaviano dress with delicate drapery. She completed the ensemble with Christian Louboutin shoes and Bulgari bling.

Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish stood out in a pink Galia Lahav dress, Isla Fisher made a statement in a fuchsia Monique Lhuillier gown, and Adam Driver’s wife Joanne Tucker sported a hot pink silk outfit with high neck and oversized sleeves.

Kate Upton was targeted by angry animal rights activists on Wednesday over her partnership with officials at winter clothing company Canada Goose.

The model and actress was in the middle of co-hosting her Strong4Me Fitness class in New York City when a number of protesters forced their way into the studio and interrupted the workout.

The group’s leader, a man wearing a cap with the word “VEGAN” emblazoned across the front, held up a sign reading, “Kate Upton Animal Abuser”, and began verbally attacking the blonde beauty for promoting Canada Goose, which is known for using goose down and coyote fur to make its coats.

“Shame on Kate Upton for promoting a company that has been exposed for animal cruelty! Shame on you..!” he shouted, as his fellow demonstrators echoed his words. “Canada Goose has blood on their hands…! Coyotes get shot in the head, and are strangled to death!”

Video footage of the confrontation shows an unfazed Upton looking on as staffmembers try to apprehend the activists and escort them out of the class, while the man continued to blast the model.

“What is the matter with you?” he ranted. “You’re an influencer, you’re supposed to be promoting kindness and yet you’re promoting violence! Shame on you, you murderer! Shame on you!”

Upton, who received backlash for partnering with Canada Goose in November, is yet to comment on the incident, but bosses at the company have maintained all their animal products are sourced humanely.

She is just the latest celebrity to face verbal attacks from furious animal rights activists – this year, Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, and Lil’ Kim have all also had to deal with in-person confrontations over their past fashion choices.

Jennifer Lopez was overcome with emotion after receiving her first-ever nomination for the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Wednesday.

The singer/actress was shortlisted for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role prize for her performance as Ramona in box office hit Hustlers, and the star took to Twitter on Wednesday to thank the organisation for the recognition.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been nominated for a SAG award before,” she said in a video, while working out at the gym.

Holding back tears, the star added: “So excited and so humble to be recognised by my fellow actors out there. You know, acting was my first love along with dancing and I just can’t believe all of this is happening.

“To all the struggling actors out there, don’t give up! It could happen. It’s happening. Thank you so much. I feel like I already won, thank you.”

Also nominated in the category is Laura Dern for Marriage Story, Scarlett Johansson for Jojo Rabbit, and Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie for Bombshell.

It’s been a successful week for the Love Don’t Cost A Thing hitmaker, who was also shortlisted for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture at the 2020 Golden Globes – her first Globes nod in 20 years – for her celebrated performance in the critically-acclaimed film, which also stars Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, and Lili Reinhart.

“I’m just waking up and I just heard that I got nominated,” she said in a video shared on social media. “Oh my god, it’s been 20 years since Selena. I just want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this incredible honour. I am humbled and so excited to be recognised for this role as Ramona in Hustlers and I’ll see you at the Globes!”

The Golden Globes take place 5 January, while the SAG Awards are held 19 January.
