Margot Robbie settled upon her outfit for the 2020 Oscars back in December.

The Australian actress, who was nominated at the awards on Sunday for her role in Bombshell, hit the red carpet in a vintage midnight blue chiffon bustier gown from Chanel, with the number featuring off-the-shoulder statement sleeves and a flowing skirt.

Margot, 29, and her stylist Kate Young were on the hunt for a pre-loved gown from the French fashion house last year, when they stumbled upon the intricate dress in the archives.

“We discovered this ’90s couture gown in Chanel’s archive back in December,” Kate told British Vogue, adding that the dress was a longer version of one that iconic supermodel Claudia Schiffer wore on the catwalk almost 26 years ago. “It’s very similar to the short dress that (Claudia) wore on Karl Lagerfeld’s spring/summer 1994 couture runway, but it was made for a client, so it’s truly unique. It just felt very Margot – it felt cool.”

And the process of borrowing from the Chanel archives made the experience a little bit more special for the pair.

“We know whose dress it was originally because Chanel keeps hand-written books. When I take a dress from the house’s couture archive for Margot to wear, we also have to write in the book who it is for and who is ordering it, which I just think is so cool,” the style guru shared. “For me, it underscores that really, really special clothes have a life that is long and romantic.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been tapped as the new face of BCBG Max Azria.

The English rose will front the spring 2019 adverts, modelling romantic floaty dresses, sleek silhouettes, and chunky jewellery.

“The clothes really convey everything. I think the messaging is about an ambitious woman, positive, upbeat,” Rosie said in a statement. “She’s a go-getter and she wants to be stylish and put together at the same time.”

Stylist to the stars Kate Young, who counts Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, and Sienna Miller as clients, has also joined the BCBG team, as creative consultant.

It’s a new venture for Kate, who’s a long-time fan of the U.S. brand, which was founded by Tunisian designer Max Azria in 1989.

“I’ve consulted for many brands, but no one really does this,” she mused. “I have a sort of old school love for the brand. For me, it has this association with moving to New York, which sort of goes with the ambitious working stylish girl. It’s fun collaborating together on colours and shapes. I’m just trying to bring a little of my aesthetic in.”

Following Azria’s exit in 2016, the label was sold to Marquee Brands and Global Brands Group in 2017 after filing for bankruptcy.

Kate has been quietly working in her new role for nearly a year, under creative director Bernd Kroeber, who praised her “refined” eye and sensibility. Power suits, sweater dresses, a pyjama set, and denim and ruffled dresses also make up the new collection.

“Most women have different sides to themselves. This season it’s more of an ageless tribe instead of thinking, ‘What does a 20-year-old need versus what does a 50-year-old need?’ It’s actually the same woman, just different aspects of her life,” the stylist added.

Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez’s go-to fashion guru has been named Hollywood’s most powerful stylist for the third time.

Kate Young has topped the eighth annual Hollywood Reporter poll, which takes a close look at red carpet style from the Cannes Film Festival to the Oscars.

Young, whose current roster also includes Sienna Miller and Dakota Johnson, first topped the list in 2012 with her longtime clients Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman. She also landed at number one in 2016.

She provided Margot Robbie with form-fitting wardrobe items throughout the actress’ I, Tonya promotional run, which helped the Australian land a dream role as a Chanel ambassador.

Robbie stunned in white Chanel at the Academy Awards earlier this month (Mar18).

Her creations have helped her clients land huge fashion deals in the past – Young is credited with scoring Williams ads for Louis Vuitton and Portman a deal with Dior, while industry insiders claims she was largely responsible for giving Coach and Gucci bosses a taste for Gomez and Johnson, respectively.

This year’s Hollywood Reporter stylists list features many fashionistas who were challenged by the #TimesUp movement, which prompted celebrities to opt for all-black looks to suit the the Golden Globes and BAFTA dress code, and all-white ensembles for the Grammy Awards in January (18).

Coming in second to Young is Elizabeth Saltzman, followed by Samantha McMillen in third place. Elizabeth Stewart and Julia von Boehm round out the top five.

Margot Robbie has been named as Chanel’s latest brand ambassador.

The Australian actress attended the Academy Awards on Sunday night (04Mar18), where she was nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in movie I, Tonya.

Though she lost out in the category to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri star Frances McDormand, Margot still had plenty to celebrate, as a Chanel representative confirmed that she would be the French luxury label’s new house ambassador just prior to the event.

Accordingly, the 27-year-old sported a custom white Chanel gown with off-the-shoulder neckline designed by creative director Karl Lagerfeld, which was matched with a Chanel bag and jewellery, as well as Roger Vivier shoes.

“I can’t believe I’m wearing a haute couture dress made for me by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel,” she told reporters on the red carpet. “It’s a fantasy. I feel like myself but still as glamorous as I’ve ever dreamed I would at the Oscars.”

Margot’s look was put together by stylist Kate Young, who also works with celebrities such as Dakota Johnson and Selena Gomez. A lot of effort went into the creation of the gown, including the 3D camellia appliques on the neckline, with the embroidery taking over 550 hours of work and the assembling requiring an additional 130 hours.

“I like it because it’s futurist,” Kate told InStyle of the delicate embroidery and beading. “Embroidery can sometimes feel ‘old lady’ to me and I wanted it to be embroidered, but feel cool… I didn’t want her to look trussed up and bedazzled. I wanted her to look real and elegant.”

Margot follows in the footsteps of Vanessa Paradis and Kristen Stewart in being tapped as a Chanel brand ambassador.
