Emily Ratajkowski wants to try a “crazy” hairstyle one day because she was never able to experiment with her locks as a teenager.

The model/actress started her fashion career at the age of 14, and has since gone on to nab campaigns for the likes of DKNY, Paco Rabanne, and haircare company Kerastase, as well as appear in films such as Gone Girl and I Feel Pretty.

However, Emily’s career means she has to keep her signature brunette locks the same, and she’s now shared that she hopes to one day try a new colour or style.

“I still have this deep want – need- to go crazy and get the teenage years out at some point, since I never got to dye my hair green or anything. And I’m always up for a dare,” she said in an interview for the November 2019 issue of Marie Claire magazine. “Well, I would be if I didn’t have a hair contract with Kerastase! So, it’s going to look like this for a while.”

Emily went on to explain that her hair is naturally straight and very fine. But over her years in the fashion industry, she has intently watched hair professionals in order to pick up some top styling tips.

“I’m really good with make-up now, but styling my own hair? It’s been a journey,” the 28-year-old said. “I can’t see the back of my own head! I don’t know what I’m doing!”

Elsewhere in the chat, Emily also shared that she once cut her friend’s hair into a bob and will play with wigs and hairpieces if she gets the urge to try a new look.

“I wear them all the time and people don’t realise,” she smiled.

Beauty doesn’t come cheap for model and actress Emily Ratajkowski – her skin and hair routine alone sets her back $1,000 (£770) on must-have products.

The Gone Girl star is considered one of the world’s most beautiful women and she tells The Coveteur that it’s expensive to look good.

The 27 year old relies on cleansers, serums and anti-ageing powder, all of which come at a hefty price.

“No matter how crazy my day is, I always take the time to take care of my skin,” Emily says. “I take my makeup off, do a little exfoliating and, depending on what’s going on, I’ll use different products.”

She adds, “I really love Joanna Vargas’ Super Nova Serum – that product in particular is amazing.”

Fans looking to purchase the item should be prepared to spend upwards of $300 (£230), while another one of her favourites, Barbara Sturm’s Face Cream Rich, retails at $230 (£177).

“Lastly, I put on Barbara Sturm’s Face Cream Rich so they all sort of seal together, and in the morning my skin is good,” she shares. “If my skin’s really dry, I use Sisley Black Rose Oil.”

For a more accessible product, the star’s collection also features Kiehl’s exfoliating cleanser for men, which costs just $20 (£15).

“I’m using a tea tree exfoliating face wash, and I’m also using a Kiehl’s exfoliating cleanser that’s actually for men; it’s really nice,” she shared. “For everyday, my go-to is just the simple Kiehl’s cleanse if my skin’s looking OK and I don’t want to screw with it too much.”

And when it comes to her hair, the star turns to Kerastase Resistance Extentioniste.

“Hair is harder for me, so what’s really been helpful is making my hair really healthy. I swear to God, I love the Kerastase Resistance Extentioniste. It totally changed my hair,” she said. “I’ll shampoo my hair just at the roots, rinse it pretty quickly, and then I’ll put the conditioner in mid-length down, but not too much. Then I’ll shave or whatever, then rinse. You can actually feel it thickening your hair.”

The 16-year-old was recently named as the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty and fronted her first campaign for the brand last month (Oct18). And though Kate has worked with some of the most esteemed make-up artists in the business over her decades as a top model, Lila has taught her mum everything she needs to know about beauty in the social media era.

“She teaches me everything,” the fashion icon shared in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Lila and her friends follow all the beauty blogs and Instagram accounts, and she’ll be like, ‘Mum, you have to try this, it’s amazing what they can do now.’ She does all that contouring and stuff, which I’m sure they do to me when I’m at work, but I never pay any attention. I’m too busy talking.”

Kate has landed a vast number of high-profile beauty campaigns since she started modelling, which includes a longstanding partnership with Rimmel, as well as gigs with Dior, Kerastase and St. Tropez. Most recently, the 44-year-old has been appointed as creative director of cult Japanese beauty brand Decorte, which means she is “responsible for the look of the ad campaigns as well as starring in them.”

Though Kate is typically glammed up, she is adamant that her day-to-day beauty regime is very low maintenance.

“You don’t want to be a slave to beauty. Don’t get me wrong, I love beauty products more than ever – as you get older, you have more to hide – but I’m not obsessed,” she insisted. “Even when I’m going out, I still find it hard to wear false eyelashes and stuff. Sometimes (make-up artist) Pat McGrath will be like, ‘Come on, darling, let’s put a lash on you,’ but I would never put one on myself.”
