Josh Hutcherson found that filming The Hunger Games movies was similar to being at college.

The 27-year-old played baker’s son Peeta Mellark in each of the four movies in the hit franchise, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Stanley Tucci.

And the actor doesn’t feel like he ever missed out on going to college, as filming The Hunger Games was a similar experience.

“It was like my college,” Josh told Entertainment Weekly. “That was like such a coming-of-age time for me. It was the first time I was away from my family, and on my own.”

He also revealed that if he was offered the role of Peeta now, he would think twice about accepting, as starring in a hugely popular franchise, which has grossed more than $2.9 billion (£2.3 billion) worldwide, wasn’t something wanted to do with his career.

“It was worlds apart from anything I have ever experienced. It’s like a double-edged sword,” he shared. “But when I set out to become an actor at eight, being famous and being recognised was not on my radar. I just wanted to make movies.”

“That naivete followed me until slapped me in the face,” Josh added, noting the worldwide fame that came with starring in the saga. “It made me realise the kind of actor I wanted to be. The idea of doing big, big projects that make you even more well-known doesn’t sound as appetising. If that opportunity came up again, I would have to think about it more.”

Vivica A. Fox “couldn’t pass up” the opportunity to reunite with Liam Hemsworth on crime thriller Arkansas.

The 55-year-old plays Her, the love interest of Vince Vaughn’s drug kingpin character Frog, in the new movie, and explained that the chance to team up once again with her Independence Day: Resurgence co-star was a no-brainer.

“The only thing that led to confusion was when I read the script. It came as an offer at first, and once I heard that it was a film with Liam Hemsworth and Vince Vaughn, I didn’t need to hear any more. I was like, ‘Liam and Vince Vaughn?’ and they’re like, ‘Yeah!’ So, I was like, ‘Absolutely!'” she laughed.

Fox told The Hollywood Reporter that she enjoyed working with Hemsworth so much on the 2016 sci-fi sequel, which was the follow-up to the 1996 classic Independence Day, that she jumped at the chance to star alongside him once again.

“It was a direct offer; I didn’t have to audition, and Liam and I had worked together on Independence Day: Resurgence. So, getting the chance to work with him again was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Fox explained.

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed she considers herself and Jackie Brown star Pam Grier as some of the original action heroines.

“We were original with it. We came first, but that’s what we’re supposed to do. For me, Pam Grier was that original, kicka*s, bad chick. So, the fact that I can pass that baton to the generation next to me is cool, and they’re even bigger and badder,” she quipped.

A prequel to The Hunger Games movie franchise is in the works.

Suzanne Collins’s popular young adult novel trilogy was adapted into four hugely successful films starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson between 2012 and 2015.

Officials at Lionsgate, the studio behind the franchise, announced on Tuesday that they would also be making a movie adaptation of Collins’s upcoming prequel novel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is due to be released on 19 May.

“Suzanne’s new book has been worth the wait. It offers everything fans could hope for and expect from The Hunger Games while also breaking new ground and introducing an entirely new canvas of characters,” said Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, in a statement.

The new novel follows an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, who would eventually rise to become the tyrannical ruler of the dystopian nation of Panem, and the central villain of the original Hunger Games series.

Snow, who was portrayed by Donald Sutherland in the franchise, is chosen to be a mentor for 10th annual Hunger Games, for a young girl from District 12, the future home of Lawrence’s heroine Katniss Everdeen.

Collins, who will also serve as an executive producer of the new film, added, “Lionsgate has always been the cinematic home of The Hunger Games, and I’m delighted to be returning to them with this new book.”

The prequel adaptation will serve a reunion for some behind-the-scenes crew. Francis Lawrence – no relation to Jennifer Lawrence – will return to the director’s chair after helming Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Part 1, and Mockingjay – Part 2, while Nina Jacobson, who produced all of the films in the franchise, will produce the latest film, along with her partner Brad Simpson.

Collins will write the film’s treatment and Michael Arndt, who previously helped write Catching Fire, will adapt the screenplay.

Liam Hemsworth quit veganism last year after a health scare made him rethink his diet.

The Hunger Games actor, who switched to a plant-based diet back in 2015, revealed in the new issue of Men’s Health Australia magazine that he transitioned away from it for health reasons in 2019.

“The first two years, I felt great… I felt my energy was high. I felt like my body was strong, cardio was high, everything felt really good,” he shared. “February last year I was feeling really low and lethargic and wasn’t feeling good generally. And then I got a kidney stone.”

The kidney stone, known as a calcium oxalate stone, formed due to an excessively high level of oxalate, a chemical compound found in nuts, spinach, legumes, and bran.

Hemsworth had been consuming these foods in vast quantities, with his morning smoothie alone consisting of five handfuls of spinach, almond milk, almond butter, and vegan protein at the time of his hospitalisation.

“That was what I considered super healthy and doing the right thing,” the 30-year-old explained. “I had to completely rethink what I was putting in my body.”

Although the Australian actor’s vegan days are behind him, he was quick to insist that other people may still have a positive experience with the plant-based diet.

“If something works for a period of time, great, keep doing it,” he advised. “If something changes and you’re not feeling great, then you’ve got to reassess it again and then figure it out.”

Following his health scare, Hemsworth completely overhauled his eating plan and even went on a six-month stint of sobriety in an attempt to have “optimal health at all times”.

He also threw himself into exercise, which he credits with “keeping my head level and just staying balanced” following his separation from wife Miley Cyrus.

Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have cemented their romance by getting matching tattoos.

The couple went public with its romance in October, just two months after the Wrecking Ball hitmaker announced her separation from husband Liam Hemsworth.

Miley and Cody were spotted heading into a Los Angeles tattoo parlour during a night out early on in their relationship, and the artist who worked on the stars’ designs, Nico Bassill, has now revealed the co-ordinated ink in a post on Instagram.

In one snap, Miley is seen displaying the outline of a trident symbol on her left wrist, while Cody has had a filled-in version added to his collection on his left upper arm.

“‘Some mornings it’s like the sun rises only for her.’ Prince Neptune,” Nico captioned the photo, seemingly referencing a poem the Australian singer/writer has penned about his girlfriend.

Cody is currently promoting his upcoming book, Prince Neptune: Poetry and Prose, which will be released on 7 April.

The 23-year-old has regularly been sharing snippets of the poetry collection on a dedicated Instagram page, and in one post, noted that he viewed the work as “like my notebook”.

“It started when I was 18 living down in Venice Beach recording my poems, visions, thoughts. Now, at 23, it’s filled, bound, published, and ready for you to get your hands on April 7. First copy arrived yesterday & I’m stoked,” he gushed.

Meanwhile, Miley also recently visited Nico to get a replica of a Henri Matisse drawing on her right tricep.

No stranger to body art, the 27-year-old also has a number of mini designs on her hands, the word “freedom” tattooed on her right hand, and a snake motif on her left forearm.

Elsa Pataky has no regrets about getting a matching tattoo with her brother-in-law Liam Hemsworth’s now estranged wife Miley Cyrus.

Back in 2016, the Fast & Furious star and the Wrecking Ball singer celebrated their close bond by getting matching tattoos of a simple wave symbol in black ink on their arms.

Elsa, who is married to Liam’s older brother Chris Hemsworth, has insisted she has no regrets over the matching ink, despite Miley and Liam separating last summer after a short-lived marriage.

“I don’t regret any of them, they’re symbols and I love having them and it reminds me of those moments,” the 43-year-old told Vogue Australia.

The Spanish actress and Miley were also joined by friends Kalani Miller and April Munro for the special tattoo session, which was shared on Instagram at the time by Sydney-based artist, Lauren Winzer, who revealed that the simple ink was designed by Australian surfer Kelly Slater, who is dating Kalani.

Elsa didn’t comment further on the breakdown of her brother-in-law’s marriage in the Vogue interview, but has previously shared her thoughts on Liam and Miley’s very public breakup.

While speaking to reporters at an event in November, the mother-of-three said the 30-year-old actor was “taking it well”.

“He’s a strong guy and he deserves the best. I think he deserves much more,” Elsa stated, before adding that Avengers: Endgame star Chris was comforting his younger brother.

“Family is always there to protect you. He and his brother are so close and he’s really been there for him to give him the strength he needs,” she shared.

Liam has moved on from the split and is currently dating model Gabriella Brooks. Miley is now dating Australian musician Cody Simpson.

Miley Cyrus has had the word “freedom” tattooed on her right hand amid her ongoing divorce from Liam Hemsworth.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker was inked over the weekend by celebrity tattoo artist Daniel Winter – also known as Winter Stone – who shared snaps of the new design on his Instagram page.

“FREEDOM #freedom #mothersdaughter #mileycyrus #singleneedle #delicatelysharp #tattoo,” he captioned the black-and-white shot of the body art, which is located just above Miley’s knuckles.

Accordingly, a number of the 27-year-old’s social media followers were quick to speculate that the tattoo refers to her split from The Hunger Games star in August.

On Sunday, Winter also shared a picture of Miley’s next tattoo – a copy of a personal note from Yoko Ono that reads: “I’m proud of U, Yoko”.

“Handwritten note to @mileycyrus from @yokoonoofficial. What a special tattoo for you Miley! I was honoured to tattoo this for you! #singleneedle #delicatelysharp #tattooedgirlslover_id,” Winter added.

It is believed the note came after Miley covered Yoko and John Lennon’s classic Christmas song Happy Xmas (War Is Over) with the couple’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, as well as Mark Ronson, last year.

The popstar also sang about her freedom in her track Mother’s Daughter.

“Don’t f**k with my freedom / I came back to get me some / I’m nasty, I’m evil,” she crooned in the song.

Miley announced her split from Liam back in August and was quickly spotted cosying up to The Hills: New Beginning’s star Kaitlynn Carter on a vacation in Italy. She’s currently dating Australian singer Cody Simpson, while Liam has been quietly seeing actress Maddison Brown.

Roland Emmerich regrets making Independence Day: Resurgence.

The German filmmaker enjoyed success in 1996 with the alien invasion film Independence Day, the highest-grossing film of that year, but failed to recreate that glory with his sequel, which was considered a critical and commercial disappointment following its release in 2016.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies UK, Emmerich candidly admitted making the sequel was a mistake and he should have halted production once Will Smith, the lead of the original, pulled out to star in Suicide Squad, leaving him to make last-minute changes to the script.

“I just wanted to make a movie exactly like the first but then in the middle of production Will (Smith) opted out because he wanted to do Suicide Squad,” he explained. “I should have stopped making the movie because we had a much better script, then I had to really fast, cobble another script together. I should have just said no because all of a sudden I was making something I criticised myself: a sequel.”

Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman returned for the sequel and newcomers included Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, and Jessie Usher, who portrayed the stepson of Smith’s character. The film netted just under $390 million (£303 million) from a $165 million (£128 million) budget which paled in the comparison to the $817 million (£634 million) its predecessor grossed.

Emmerich is now back with Midway, which tells the true World War II story of the naval conflict between American and Japanese forces in the Pacific following the devastating events of Pearl Harbor.

He explained the gap between films was simply because it “took time” for him to assemble the production independently.

“It’s amazing that I could do it for only a $100 million because every other director would’ve asked for $150 million. They said, ‘There is just no basis for that,’ so I had to put it together independently, go out there and chase it,” the 63-year-old added.

Miley Cyrus was fired from children’s animated film Hotel Transylvania after she was photographed licking a “penis cake”.

It was announced in late 2011 that the singer, who was then starring in TV show Hannah Montana, would be voicing the teenage vampire Mavis, the daughter of Adam Sandler’s Dracula, in the animated movie, but in February 2012, she departed from the project and no reason was given for her exit.

However, the 26-year-old posted a lengthy message on social media on Thursday night to deny claims she had cheated on her estranged husband Liam Hemsworth during their short-lived marriage, and in the post, she reeled off a string of indiscretions and revealed that she was dropped from the 2012 movie after photos of her licking a penis-shaped cake went viral.

“I got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it,” she wrote, shortly after confessing she lost “a massive Walmart deal at 17” for smoking marijuana from a bong.

“I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP,” she continued. “I can admit to a lot of things, but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating.”

Miley, who announced her separation from The Hunger Games star in early August, was subsequently replaced by fellow Disney Channel star Selena Gomez, who has gone on to voice Mavis in the 2015 sequel and Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation, which was released last year. The franchise has been a box office success for Sony Pictures Animation and a fourth instalment is slated to hit cinemas in 2021.

Anthony Vaccarello’s latest Saint Laurent show attracted a whole host of mega stars, with Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth and new brand ambassador, Keanu Reeves.

Taking place on the Paradise Cove beach in Malibu, on Thursday, a line-up of A-list stars took their place on the front row, with 21 Savage, Amber Heard, Sebastian Stan, Charlie Puth, Evan Peters, Laura Dern, Lakeith Stanfield and Luka Sabbat joining the sandy setting.

On the fashion front was Amber Valletta, Hailey Bieber and Anja Rubik.

Vaccarello’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection took inspiration from Mick Jagger’s swaggering ‘70s style, which was seen on garments like satin shirts, drain pipe trousers and skinny scarves.

“I tried to connect Mick in the ‘70s with L.A., which I think is the new Marrakech,” Vaccarello told Vogue. “I think Marrakech has become over-used and too touristy, in a way. I always saw Los Angeles as a new Marrakech.”

Like the clothes seen on the catwalk, many of the show’s guests went for unisex looks, almost all donning black garments.

“There’s a quality of life we don’t have in Paris, in England, or anywhere else,” the designer explained of the L.A. setting. “The people I’ve met here are very gender-fluid, very relaxed.”

Absent from Thursday’s proceedings was Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, who was unveiled as a Saint Laurent model in May.

The 16-year-old fronts the Fall/Winter 2019 campaign, and was snapped by photographer David Sims dressed in a Saint Laurent’s signature look of a skinny two-piece suit styled with high-shine leather boots.
