The 2020 Isle of Wight Festival has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the cancellation of Britain’s Glastonbury festival earlier this month, organisers of the Isle of Wight have axed plans for the June event, as the U.K. remains in lockdown to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“The Isle of Wight Festival will no longer be taking place this year,” they said in a statement on Thursday. “This decision has not been taken lightly and we have tried out hardest to make it work, but it was unavoidable given the current status.

“The whole team was excited to welcome everyone to the island for another fantastic festival and we extend our sincere apologies to everyone who was looking forward to it as much as we were. The safety of our audience, artists, crew and the Isle of Wight community is paramount and we appreciate your patience whilst we’ve been working through this unprecedented situation.”

The news was shared on Twitter, along with the announcement that the U.K.’s Download Festival, also set to take place in June, had been scrapped amid the global health crisis.

Both festivals vowed to return next year, with Isle of Wight teasing the event will be “stronger than ever”, and Download vowing to assemble an “amazing line-up for 2021”.

Isle of Wight Festival was set to be headlined by the likes of Lionel Richie, Lewis Capaldi, Snow Patrol, The Chemical Brothers, and Duran Duran, with Download featuring sets from KISS, Iron Maiden, and System of a Down.

They join the SXSW, Coachella, Stagecoach, Snowbombing 2020, and Ultra Music festivals around the world that have been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic.

Sofia Richie preparing to release bikini line

Sofia Richie is planning to kick off her business empire with a line of bikinis.

The 21-year-old is gearing up to launch her own business this year and will start by releasing a line of swimwear, as she is obsessed with bikinis and owns around “50 or 60” pairs.

“I love bikinis… I feel like my following is always fascinated by the bikinis I’m wearing,” Sofia told U.S. Cosmopolitan magazine.

Sofia has experience in this area as she previously collaborated with Los Angeles-based brand Frankies Bikinis to create a 10-piece line of ’90s-inspired swimwear last year.

After the release of her own bikini line, Sofia then plans to expand her business to include a fashion collection and a beauty company – which will focus on hair and body, rather than make-up, while also launching a YouTube channel and an acting career.

“It’s time to start hustling,” the model said of her plans. “2020 is about no fear, and I’m doing things that would usually make me very uncomfortable.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Sofia, who has appeared in campaigns for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, and Chanel, explained how modelling fell into her lap because of her famous father, Lionel Richie. However, she soon realised she wanted more from her career.

“A lot of people just become models because they’re influencers,” she shared. “We would all get the same jobs, be in the same space, and be labelled the same thing, and I hated it. It made me step back and be like, ‘O.K., I’m a creative individual and I want to be smart, start my own businesses, do something I can do on my own, and not be attached to other people.'”

John Legend is set to be the new face of footwear brand Sperry.

The singer-songwriter recently took to social media to announce his partnership with the U.S.-based brand, known for its boat shoes.

“I’m excited to announce that I’m partnering with Sperry in 2020. I’ve loved their shoes for a while, I have some on right now,” he said in a short video, before showcasing his pair of Gold Cup Authentic Original Lug Chukka shoes, which feature a leather upper and versatile lug outsole.

John did not share any further details, such as if he will be appearing in a campaign. However, the gig appears to be a good match for the 41-year-old, who is known for his sharp suiting for red carpet events and preppy off-duty style. His go-to stylist is David Thomas, whose clients also include Calvin Harris, Lionel Richie, David Guetta, and Henry Golding.

At present, Sperry doesn’t have any other major celebrity names attached as brand ambassadors, though the label has a “crew” of social media influencers, including a variety of photographers, travel bloggers, models, social entrepreneurs, and adventurers.

Previously, John opened up about the evolution of his personal style, putting his current looks down to his lifestyle on the West Coast.

“The clothing I have here in California would certainly be different to the clothing I have back in New York. I mean, the weather here is better, obviously, so the fabric needs to be more breathable and a little looser,” the All of Me hitmaker explained to GQ in 2018. “With a more relaxed vibe comes more colour. Sometimes when I was living back in New York, the sleek, chic, in-control power thing messed with your sense of style a little too much. It’s so uptight! You could never be off duty, you know?”

Sofia Richie has learned many valuable beauty lessons from her dad Lionel Richie.

Taking part in a new make-up and skincare tutorial for Vogue.com, the model detailed her daily regime and credited the music icon for inspiring her to take good care of her face.

“My dad probably gets his nails, his hair, and gets facials more than me,” Sofia joked. “So, I aspire to be like him. He’s obsessed with skincare. He’s the person who will come to me and say, ‘I love you; your skin looks dry. Maybe you need a facial?'”

The Dancing on the Ceiling hitmaker then made a surprise cameo in the video.

“Sleep and water, and I guess that’s all I need to do,” Lionel told Sofia, when quizzed about his own skincare regime.

Elsewhere in the video, the 21-year-old explained that she’s been visiting top dermatologist, Dr. Harold Lancer, for her “very sensitive skin” since she was 13 and uses his products religiously.

After washing her face, Sofia applies the Lancer Skincare light moisturiser and then spritzes on some rose water. She then dabs on a tinted primer and sticks on some hydrating eye patches to help with any puffiness or dark circles.

“If I’m going to a shoot, I will wake up and drive with these all the way to the shoot until I get into the make-up chair,” she explained.

Next, Sofia uses an SPF, mixes Bobbi Brown and Becca foundations to create a base, and follows up with a few strokes of concealer, a sweep of her translucent powder, and a touch of her favourite Chanel bronzer.

The star also noted that she always uses a waterproof mascara from Maybelline.

“It took me years to find a mascara that worked for me,” Sofia shared. “I’ve been using this for years and will never use another mascara ever.”

Lionel Richie has launched his first fragrance collection in time for the holidays.

The singer, who released his hit tune Hello in 1984, is looking to make a splash in the perfume market with the new HELLO by Lionel Richie Eau de Toilette and HELLO by Lionel Richie Eau de Parfum.

Inspired by Lionel’s “passion for music and love of romance”, the women’s scent features notes of pear, lemon, grapefruit and pink pepper, and has a base of honey, tonka, ambrox, and patchouli, leaving a rich, spicy impression, while the men’s version is a “sexy, sparkling fougere mixed with warm, ambery notes that exudes an intoxicating and modern aromatic experience”.

The top notes feature hints of bergamot, grapefruit, bitter orange and mint, with a base of patchouli, vetiver, and ambrox.

“I’ve always looked at fragrance as a way to express yourself, so I wanted to take my creative expression one step further and decided to craft my very own fragrances,” the 70-year-old explained of the collection. “While working through this process, I realised there are many similarities between songwriting and fragrance creation – the notes have to work together. I merged my own style and the embodiment of my love songs to create a fragrance collection I’m proud to share with fans and people around the world.”

Both scents come packaged in a glass bottled covered in gold lattice work. The perfume is available to purchase from Amazon, with prices starting at $36 (£27) for a 30ml flacon.

In addition to his perfume collection, Lionel also has homeware collection, comprised of bedding, pillows, and towels, available to buy from the JCPenney department store in the U.S.

Sofia Richie has partnered with Frankies Bikinis on a new swimwear collection.

The model and influencer, who is the youngest daughter of music icon Lionel Richie and his ex-wife Diane Alexander, has steadily been pursuing her own career and landed campaigns for brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, and Chanel.

Now, Sofia has teamed up with Francesca Aiello, founder of Los Angeles-based Frankies Bikinis, on a line of ’90s-inspired items.

“It was a dream working with Francesca! I felt like I was working with a friend I had known for years, we just get each other,” the 20-year-old gushed. “I was honoured she asked me to collaborate with Frankies Bikinis as I wear her suits and already loved the brand.”

The 10-piece range includes bikinis made from with fabric featuring a mix of pink and blue tie-dye washes, and a hoodie. Harnessing a laidback and relaxed aesthetic, the range harnesses both Sofia and Francesca’s California roots.

And the swimwear designer couldn’t be more thrilled with the final result.

“Beyond making sure the silhouettes were flattering to different body shapes and sizes, we thought it was really important that we styled this campaign in a way that reflected my personal style – girly with a tomboy flair,” commented Francesca. “Whether I am wearing baggy jeans with a fitted tank, oversized hoodie with bike shorts, or styling my swimwear with a pair of sweatpants and sneakers, I love to have that perfect mix of femininity and tomboy.”

The Frankies Bikinis x Sofia Richie collection is available to purchase online and will also be stocked at a pop-up boutique in London department store Selfridges between 27 and 28 July.

Sofia Richie is looking to make a splash in the fashion world with her own line.

The model and influencer, who is the youngest daughter of music icon Lionel Richie and his ex-wife Diane Alexander, has steadily been pursuing her own career and landed campaigns for brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, and Chanel.

Now, Sofia has announced that she is making her own clothing collection, to be named Sofia Stone.

“I finally feel like I’m at the point in my life where I have so many creative ideas that I want to share and I’m bottled up,” she said in an interview with WWD. “Over the years, buying so many clothes and seeing what I liked and didn’t like and being in the modelling industry, I was around so many designers and I always took notes and tips from them. It came easily and I knew all the little things I wanted and didn’t want.”

To create the line, Sofia has partnered with LA Collective – the company founded by Jaynee and Karl Singer in 2015 with the aim of building brands for individuals across the fashion and lifestyle arenas. LA Collective also oversees model Alexis Ren’s activewear label Ren Active, Los Angeles-inspired sportswear brand Vita LA, and reality TV star Morgan Stewart’s clothing line TLA by Morgan Stewart.

A teaser image of one of Sofia’s designs depicts a model sporting a pair of wide-legged tailored trousers with a crop top, with the 11 other items in the range to include bodysuits and suits.

And while the 20-year-old, who is dating TV personality Scott Disick, comes from a stylish family, with her adoptive sister Nicole Richie having launched her House of Harlow 1960 in 2008, she credits her clothing designer mum Diane for inspiring her to pursue the idea.

“We all have very different styles in my family, but she definitely was the person that made me interested the most in fashion,” the starlet shared of her mother.

Pieces from the Sofia Stone line will be priced under $80 (£60) and are set to be available to buy in August (19).

Lionel Richie has launched a home linen collection to show off his skills as an interior design guru.

The Hello singer has teamed up with U.S. retailer JC Penney for a new venture, which he insists will wow fans.

“This is an eclectic design experience offering that connects my joy and love of life,” the star says in a new statement. “Home is an extension of songwriting for me.”

Lionel felt inspired while creating the new range, which includes bed sheets, towels, and pillow sets in a range of colours, insisting he wanted to produce pieces that took him into the homes of his fans.

“‘I have fun curating many decor style pieces to create my own unique personality,” he explains. “My tip is to try to experience life to the fullest, keep it simple, and create your own unique space at home.”

And the Dancing on the Ceiling hitmaker insists he is the perfect person to get behind the new JC Penney venture, because he has spent so much of his life trying to turn hotel rooms into a home from home – and he really appreciates any time he gets to hang out in his own pad.

“I travel so much,” he adds, “but home is my tranquility, my stay-cation, and through my passion for home design and experiences, I want to design a beautiful home space for you.”
