Kelly Ripa has jokingly urged people to refrain from cutting their own bangs while stuck at home during the coronavirus outbreak.

Millions of people around the world are holed up at home in an effort to stop the spread of the virus, which has so far infected more than 435,000 people, resulting in the deaths of almost 20,000.

During Tuesday’s episode of U.S. morning show Live with Kelly and Ryan, which Ripa and co-host Ryan Seacrest have opted to present from their respective homes to practice social distancing, the 49-year-old touched upon the current trend of at-home haircuts.

“People are cutting their own bangs… they’re calling it a pandemic trend,” she said. “I’m not sure if I like the phrase pandemic trend, but they’re saying since (coronavirus) has taken hold of us, they’re cutting their hair out of boredom.”

“People don’t cut their hair out of boredom, they cut their hair because they’re drunk and they think they know how to cut hair,” Ripa quipped. “People just tend to be on their ‘I cut my bangs’ glass of wine. They think, ‘You know what, I’ve always wanted bangs and now I’m going to do it.'”

The former All My Children actress then added she once made the mistake of cutting her own hair more than 20 years ago.

“I know from where I speak,” the mother-of-three continued. “I cut my bangs before the Daytime Emmys about 22 years ago and I’ve never gotten over it.”

Kelly Ripa has taken to social media to show off just how much her grey roots have grown while she self-isolates amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Live with Kelly and Ryan host is holed up at her home in New York as the city’s residents have been urged to go into lockdown to avoid spreading the Covid-19 virus, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 16,700 people worldwide.

But in a new Instagram Stories post, the 49-year-old shared a snap of a small patch of silvery roots in her blonde hair and jokingly bemoaned her lack of access to a hairdresser.

“Root watch week one,” she captioned the image.

Kelly, who recently donated $1 million (£850,000) to coronavirus relief efforts, previously joked about having a “very serious medical problem” while she headed to an aesthetics clinic to receive Botox injections before the Big Apple went into lockdown.

In a video, the former All My Children star visited Dr. Robert Anolik, who said she had a “Botox deficiency”, with symptoms including “lines and wrinkles”.

Kelly later shared a list on Instagram, highlighting the tasks people should and should not be doing during the coronavirus pandemic. The mother-of-three also urged her 2.7 million followers to take a break from watching the news and to instead consider how they can focus on their mental wellbeing.

“It’s O.K. to feel frustrated that you can’t hug your parents or convince them to stay inside. It’s ok to cook the same thing over and over and then reheat the leftovers,” she added.

Antonio Banderas will ensure his shoes are broken in properly before attending the 2020 Academy Awards next month.

The Spanish actor is nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance in Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Driver, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jonathan Pryce.

However, in a recent interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Antonio admitted that he has little recollection of the very first time he was a presenter at the Oscars back in 1992, because his feet were killing him.

“I bought new shoes,” he said, noting that his footwear was simply “too tight”.

“And it was dramatic because 15 minutes into the show, it (pain) was unbearable. It was impossible.”

Antonio was so uncomfortable he nearly walked onstage to make the big presentation in his socks.

“I remember my wife at the time (Ana Leza) said, ‘Take the shoes off’, but it was impossible because my feet were swollen big time,” the 59-year-old remembered. “So, I went on the stage in absolute pain and I overcame the situation.”

But it wasn’t until Antonio was back at his hotel watching the prizegiving’s highlights on TV that he realised his discomfort was plain for all to see.

“I didn’t have a neck (because of the pain),” he joked. “You couldn’t even see the bow tie.”

The Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 9 February.

Country star Tim McGraw will be relaxing his diet and fitness regime this Thanksgiving because his wife Faith Hill’s cooking is too tempting to resist.

The Humble and Kind hitmaker ensures he spends quality time with his family over the festive season because it’s all about “togetherness” – and that involves bonding at the dinner table.

“It really helps when your wife is an amazing cook,” he admitted on U.S. talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan. “Faith makes turkey in the southern cornbread dressing so when she’s making that and the homemade cranberry sauce is on the stove cooking, I get pretty excited.

“And then the sugar cookies at Christmas with the frosting on – awww, come on!”

Thanksgiving will be a rare day off for McGraw, because he has never taken a proper holiday.

The singer noted it’s not that he doesn’t enjoy relaxing, he just enjoys his work even more.

“Let me put it to you like this,” the 52-year-old explained. “You vacation because you want to chase a connection that you’re fond of, or passionate about, or relax… I love what I do. I love work and if you talk to anyone who’s super dedicated to what they believe is their purpose, they’ll be like, ‘I’ve never worked a day in my life.'”

And McGraw insisted he’s not joking: “I haven’t taken a vacation, ever. I mean that. I get to play dress-up. I get to slick my hair back… I really do enjoy what I do, and I don’t want to take any time off.”

Victoria Beckham doesn’t know how to travel light

Victoria Beckham drives her husband David Beckham “crazy” because she can’t travel light.

The fashion designer is always jetting around the world, and though she would love to fly with just carry-on baggage, she has now insisted that she will never be that woman.

“I always like to take a lot of options, so I’m not very good at travelling light,” she confessed during an interview for Live with Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday. “I like… options because you never know what you’re going to want to wear, how you’re going to feel, so I can never travel light.

“I do drive David pretty crazy and I always take up all the closet space (in hotels) as well with all my options. That’s just what we do.”

Victoria’s penchant for travelling with a wardrobe was recently tested when she and David celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with a quick trip to Paris, France.

“We went to Paris for the weekend. Just the two of us because, you know what it’s like when you’ve got lots of children, it’s hard to spend time just the two of you.

“We had 24 hours, just the two of us, in Paris – which was so lovely,” the mother-of-four said, adding she doesn’t need to do much when she’s alone with her husband: “He’s David Beckham…I can just stare at him.”

Meanwhile, in a new beauty tutorial filmed for celebrity make-up artist Lisa Eldridge’s YouTube channel, Victoria shared that she has a very minimal make-up kit and rarely wears cosmetics during the day. Yet, the 45-year-old always grooms her eyebrows before she steps out the door.

“I’m fine to go out without any make-up on, the only thing I will always put on very, very quickly is a bit of a brow. It’s the only thing. It’s my safety blanket,” she smiled.

Taron Egerton will get to keep one piece of movie memorabilia from his Elton John biopic, Rocketman.

Directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall, the film sees the Kingsman: The Secret Service actor portray British superstar Elton John, with the plot delving into his early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, through to his musical partnership with Bernie Taupin, as well as his struggles with substance abuse, depression, and acceptance of his sexual orientation.

Egerton really enjoyed getting to dress up in the rock icon’s outrageous costumes for his stage performances on screen, but there was one particular jacket he had been keeping his eye on in the hopes of taking it home at the end of the production.

“There was one thing I really wanted – in the trailer, I sing Tiny Dancer in the movie, and I wear this denim jacket with all of these stitched on, kinda patterns,” he explained in a recent interview on U.S. talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Egerton’s request was initially met with a little reluctance from filmmakers, but his perseverance has since paid off, and he will soon get to add the costume to his own wardrobe.

“I’ve been campaigning for six months for it and I got the email the other day – I’m getting it on 7 June!” the 29-year-old smiled.

Previously, Egerton opened up about the extravagant ensembles he wears in Rocketman and praised costume designer Julian Day’s “brilliant” work on the film.

“Julian Day is definitely the most brilliant designer I’ve ever worked with. He’s incredibly collaborative, and he understands the relationship between the costumes and performance,” he commented in a preview featurette. “I have found the process of inhabiting Elton John and his wardrobe incredibly liberating.”

Rocketman, also starring Jamie Bell, Bryce Dallas Howard and Richard Madden, is now showing in cinemas.

Actress Michelle Williams has been holding on to the same parka jacket for more than a decade.

The Venom star admits she loves keeping snug in a big coat, and her favourite parka has been hanging up in her closet for years, helping her battle the chilly temperatures in New York City, particularly during the freezing winter season.

However, Michelle has become so attached to the old jacket, she tries to wear it whenever the weather dips low enough to warrant pulling out the cozy outerwear.

“I love it, I’m very late to give it up in this season (spring),” she smiled on U.S. morning show Live with Kelly and Ryan. “I put it on as early as possible, and I keep it on for as long as possible! Bring on the winter!”

Michelle reveals walking around in the thick coat gives her a feeling of confidence and safety.

“I just find it’s like a literal security blanket,” she said. “I feel like I’m going out in my bed, in my parka. And I’ve had the same parka for, I don’t know, 13, 14 years now.”

Asked if it’s made with goose down or another kind of fluffy filling, she confessed, “I don’t even know what it is (made of), but I’ve had it as long as I’ve been in New York… It really is (my New York identity).”

Michelle moved to the borough of Brooklyn while she was dating late actor Heath Ledger, the father of her 13-year-old daughter Matilda.

They split in 2007, a year before Ledger died, but the 38 year old and her only child has remained in the same neighbourhood ever since, even after Michelle quietly wed Mount Eerie singer/songwriter Phil Elverum last summer (Jul18).

Jennifer Hudson waited 11 years to start work on the new Aretha Franklin biopic.

The singer-turned-actress, who rose to fame as a finalist on American Idol in 2004 and won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls two years later, was reported to have officially entered talks to portray the Queen of Soul onscreen in 2015, but Jennifer reveals she actually met with Aretha years earlier, shortly after her Academy Awards win in 2006.

“We’d been actually talking about it (the biopic) for, like, 11 years,” she shared on morning show Live with Kelly and Ryan.

“A year after I won my Oscar, she had me meet her here in New York, and we talked about it, so now it’s actually manifesting and happening.”

Jennifer knows the project will be a “huge job”, and while she is nervous about the high-profile role, she is thrilled to have been personally approved by the late legend, who died in August (18).

“I’m terrified, to be honest, but I’m excited,” she gushed. “It’s such an honour to do that.”

It’s not yet known when the as-yet-untitled movie will go into production, but it is expected to centre on Franklin’s meteoric rise throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and detail her relationship ups and downs.

Jennifer was given the opportunity to show Aretha’s fans why she had been chosen for the biopic by the Queen of Soul herself as she joined the line-up of performers at the music icon’s funeral in Detroit, Michigan.

The 37 year old was asked by Aretha’s family to belt out Amazing Grace, and Jennifer was so touched by the request, although she confesses it was a “tough one to get through”.

“I don’t take it lightly…,” she explained. “I just wanted to honour her in the best way possible… and just continue her legacy as best as we all can, and she deserves that because people like Aretha Franklin have given us so much… It’s the least we can do.”

Emilia Clarke is getting a “cool” dragon tattoo as a permanent reminder of her role in Game of Thrones.

The British actress has played fan-favourite Daenerys Targaryen since the fantasy series began in 2011, going on to receive three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her portrayal of the ruthless queen.

And as her character is also known as Mother of Dragons, Emilia has now shared that she has already booked in for an inking of the mythical creature once Game of Thrones airs its final season in 2019.

“I’m going to get a dragon right here, kind of flying away,” she said when she appeared on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday (23May18), gesturing to her left wrist. “So, I think that’s cool. A little kind of peace out.”

Emilia already has a tattoo of a bumblebee on her left pinkie finger courtesy of famed Los Angeles tattoo artist Dr. Woo.

But she quickly shut down co-host Kelly Ripa’s suggestion that she should get a dragon tattoo spread across her whole back.

“Yeah exactly! They’ve cleared the schedule, I’m getting the full (back tattoo),” the 31-year-old joked.

The television star has also made a name for herself in the movie industry having starred in Terminator Genisys alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as romantic drama Me Before You.

At present, Emilia is promoting Solo: A Star Wars Story, in which she plays Han Solo’s childhood love interest Qi’ra, and she went for a stunning ensemble when she attended the movie’s L.A. premiere earlier this month.

Wearing a dark red ballgown with a white floral print from Valentino, she accessorised with Christian Louboutin high heels and topped off the glamorous ensemble with glittering earrings from Neil Lane.

Though her Game of Thrones character is famed for her long flowing locks, in reality, Emilia rocks a sleek chin-length bob, which she swept back into an elegant ponytail for the night.
