Jennifer Aniston has claimed Harvey Weinstein once tried to “bully” her into wearing a dress from his wife’s Marchesa line.

The disgraced movie boss has been accused of harassing and assaulting a number of women, allegations he denies, but in a new interview with Variety, Aniston revealed that the only run-in she ever had with the producer was over a red carpet outfit.

Recalling how Weinstein visited the Friends actress in London, she shared that during one conversation, he insisted she wear a gown to a premiere from his now-estranged wife Georgina Chapman’s label.

“(It was) right when Georgina’s clothing line Marchesa was starting,” she told the publication. “That’s when he came to visit me… while we were shooting. He’d be like, ‘OK, so I’d like you to wear one of these to the premiere.’

“I went through the book (of choices), and at the time, it wasn’t what it is today. It was not for me. He was like, ‘You have to wear the dress.’

“That was my only bullying. And I was like, ‘No, I will not wear the dress.'”

Aniston remained defiant and Weinstein eventually realised there was no use forcing the star to don something she didn’t want to wear.

“What was he going to do? Come over here and make me wear it? He knew better,” the 50-year-old commented.

Weinstein’s rape and sexual assault trial is scheduled to begin in Manhattan in January. He has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.

Chapman announced she was divorcing Weinstein in October 2017. The fashion designer co-founded her brand with Keren Craig in 2004, with the pair known for outfitting celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, and Cate Blanchett.

Marchesa co-founder Keren Craig is leaving the luxury fashion house.

The designer, who co-founded the company with Georgina Chapman in 2004, announced her resignation via a statement released by her representative on Tuesday.

“While I have made the difficult decision to part ways with Marchesa, I have tremendous pride in the company, the team, and the many successes achieved,” Craig said. “Marchesa will always be the realisation of a dream. Over the last 16 years, it has been the most incredible and fulfilling professional journey. I am excited to now begin exploring additional creative opportunities and to push my potential as a designer in new directions.”

It’s been a rough 18 months for the New York-based fashion house, after Chapman’s estranged husband Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual assault, abuse and rape by a number of women in a series of exposes in U.S. newspapers, allegations he has denied.

The 43-year-old, who shares daughter India and son Dashiell with the disgraced movie producer, was forced to cancel the Marchesa fall 2018 runway show in the wake of the scandal, and the label has not appeared on the fashion calendar since.

Some Hollywood stars began boycotting the brand, but Scarlett Johansson braved the critics in May last year as she stepped out in a Marchesa gown at the Met Gala.

Priyanka Chopra was then spotted wearing a sleeveless gown by the fashion house at her bridal shower before her wedding to Nick Jonas in December, and U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour even threw her support behind the company, urging people to have compassion for Chapman.

“I believe that one should not hold a person responsible for the actions of his or her partner,” the 69-year-old insisted in an interview last year.

Jennifer Lopez’s costume designer always ensures she ‘shines like a diamond’

Jennifer Lopez’s longtime stylist Rob Zangardi is determined for her to shine “like a diamond” during the It’s My Party tour.

Jennifer kicked off her gigs in Los Angeles at the beginning of June and will be ending her trek in Russia on 11 August.

Rob pieced together the 19 costumes the On the Floor hitmaker wears during the show, as well as the 176 outfits for her dancers.

“Sparkle is incredibly effective for a big show like Jennifer’s,” Rob explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “On stage, things translate so differently. When you have an intimate setting or a smaller venue, it’s important to see the artist’s face, what they’re doing and not distract too much with the costumes. But when you’re performing for 20,000 people in an arena, the people way in the back need to see you and nothing’s more exciting than seeing J.Lo shining like a diamond onstage.

“And that’s a J.Lo staple. Jennifer has always loved the sparkle, the jewellery and the more-is-more mentality – for everything that she does.”

Explaining how involved Jennifer is when it comes to her stage costumes, Rob shared that together they put together mood boards based on the 49-year-old star’s idea for each section with colour palettes and an overall vibe.

The next stage saw Rob reach out to the designers who suit the different ideas. Versace, Guess, Zuhair Murad, Giambattista Valli, Balenciaga and Marchesa are among the big-name fashion houses who contributed to Jennifer’s tour wardrobe.

“(We approach designers) who we have relationships with or who Jennifer wants to make sure are in the show. One of them always is Versace, so we’ll reach out to their team and give them the concept,” Rob added.

Victoria Beckham’s secret to looking flawless when she steps off a flight is to travel with a pair of straighteners.

The fashion designer never looks anything but perfect and has been known to exit an airplane in sky-high heels and smart tailored looks.

She’s now shared with her 25.1 million Instagram followers that as well as slipping into something less comfortable when she lands, she also goes over her hair.

“So I’ve been looking for the perfect hair straighteners that you can use on board that you don’t need to plug in, that get nice and hot so before I get off a flight I can straighten the little bits of my hair,” she said in her Instagram Stories. “And most of them don’t get so hot but I’ve found these Balmain hair straighteners that come in this really nice little bag which I think is going to be a life changer. No more frizzy hair when I get off the plane.”

The mini Balmain Universal Cordless Straightener carries a price tag of $258.89 (£199.95).

Victoria’s other in-flight must-haves include Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Cleanser and Vilhelm Parfumerie’s travel-sized fragrance.

She’ll be packing all of her travel essentials later this year when she flies to Toronto for the fifth series of Suzanne Rogers Presents events, where she’ll be the special guest in November.

Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa and Zac Posen have all previously spoken at the charity fundraising series, which started in 2010.

Vanessa Hudgens has designed a capsule collection of woman’s suits in collaboration with Suit Studio.

The actress is renowned for her floaty, boho style and always finds herself on the best-dressed list at Coachella festival, but as for her first foray into the world of fashion design, Vanessa has opted to work on a more grown-up and sophisticated line of clothes.

“I fully did some design with Suit Studio. I designed a capsule collection of women’s suits. It’s all sold separately so you can get the right sizes and it’s very me,” she said in an interview with Bustle, ahead of the release of her new movie, Dog Days.

“It’s kind of terrifying because I had total freedom in design and I’d never done it before. They gave me no pushback and fully executed the ideas I had, just beautifully and all the pieces are so extremely well tailored and beautiful materials and I think really classic pieces and something that I’m really proud of.”

Though Vanessa typically opts for Hollywood glam on the red carpet, wearing a dusty pink tulle Marchesa gown to the premiere of her latest film, the High School Musical star has actually worn suits as far back as 2011, with notable examples being a red two-piece by Romanian brand Styland and a Moschino black and red brocade-printed outfit.

“I, being a petite female, had always felt young in a crowd of women, and I remember putting on a suit, my own very personal suit that I got for myself when I was 29, like end of 28 beginning of 29, and feeling like a woman,” the 29-year-old recalled. “It was effortless. I felt strong and powerful and assertive, but also sexy and I know how impactful that was on my life and I want to be able to share that with other women.”

Christina Hendricks is tired of receiving criticism for wearing prints or bold colours on the red carpet.

The actress, known for her roles on Mad Men and new show Good Girls, always looks glamorous when she steps out for red carpet events and is a favourite among designers such as Zac Posen and Jenny Packham. However, Christina has now shared that she is often called out by fashion critics for choosing unconventional ensembles.

“I’ve fallen in love with dresses with bold prints or unusual finishes and been warned I’ll be criticised,” she told Variety, adding that she is now determined to brush off negative opinions. “I don’t care anymore. We need interesting and unique fashion choices on the red carpet.”

Over the years, Christina has tended to opt for figure-hugging gowns in jewel tones when attending awards ceremonies. But one of her top outfits choices had to be the lilac Posen gown with flowing train and feather trim which she wore to the 2010 Emmy Awards.

“This dress is everything – I felt like Ginger Rogers,” the 43-year-old shared of the eye-catching design. “(It’s) so Old Hollywood, romantic and playful and the construction was flawless. A dress has never fit me better.”

Other memorable looks for Christina include the emerald green Tadashi Shoji gown with plunging neckline and finely pleated sleeves that she sported to the 2008 Emmys as well as the red silk Marchesa dress with gold embellishment which she donned for the 2014 TV event. And although she usually wears colour on the red carpet, she is still a fan of the black lace dress from Christian Siriano that she chose for the 2013 Emmy Awards.

“I’m always encouraged to not wear black on the red carpet, but this dress was perfect,” she smiled. “I wish I could wear it again and again.”

Asking Kim Jones to dress him for his wedding was a no-brainer for Pusha T.

The rapper, real name Terrence Thornton, wed his long-time partner Virginia Williams in an opulent ceremony on Saturday (21Jul18), surrounded by their famous friends including Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams, who acted as best man.

While Virginia wowed in a bridal gown by Marchesa, the label co-helmed by disgraced movie executive Harvey Weinstein’s estranged wife Georgina Chapman, Pusha also upped the style stakes in a white Dior dinner jacket and black tuxedo pants designed by Kim.

“Pusha reached out to me about his wedding suit in such a nice way that it was a pleasure for me to make it for him,” Kim smiled to Vogue. “He knew exactly what he was looking for.”

“I’ve been a fan of Dior for a while now,” Pusha added. “And with Kim recently appointed as artistic director, it was a no-brainer! I wanted to keep it classic, but play on the time and location of the wedding so I paired my black tuxedo pants with an off-white jacket.”

Kim joined Dior Homme in March, after more than six years as the style director of Louis Vuitton’s ready-to-wear menswear collections.

The English designer also outfitted Pusha’s groomsmen, while the bridesmaids wore white dresses by Katie May collection. And on Sunday the Daytona rapper thanked him on his Instagram writing: “You’ve been so helpful, hands-on, and accommodating…thank you @mrkimjones for taking care of me and team.”

After the ceremony, held at The Cavalier Hotel in the couple’s hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia changed out of her dreamy floral embroidered Marchesa dress into a minimalistic strapless Reem Acra gown.

“One is me coming out my box and the other says ‘Virginia,’” she told Brides magazine of her two dresses.

Uploading a picture of the happy couple on Instagram, a delighted Pharrell wrote: “Congrats you guys, God is the greatest, NOW MAKE THAT BABY!”

Anna Wintour throws weight behind Marchesa following Harvey Weinstein scandal

Anna Wintour has thrown her weight behind Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

The British designer split from the movie mogul after news of his alleged sexual misconduct broke last year (17), with her New York-based fashion brand facing an unofficial Hollywood boycott ever since.

However, after Scarlett Johansson stepped out in a Marchesa gown at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (07May18) the label is once again in the spotlight, with U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Wintour now publicly voicing her support for both Chapman and her company.

“Georgina is essentially quite old-fashioned, and just as she was always the good daughter – she is still very close to her family – she also became the good wife,” she wrote in her editor’s letter for the June edition of the fashion publication. “She adored Harvey, but in the blink of an eye, she went from being in a seemingly happy marriage to looking back on a relationship that had become both bewildering and terrifying.”

In a wide-ranging interview published by Vogue on Thursday, Chapman admitted that she was “humiliated” and “broken” after the allegations levelled at Weinstein emerged, and she was deeply worried for the two children she shares with him: daughter India, seven, and five-year-old son Dashiell.

She also discussed how she went into hiding for five weeks as she felt it wouldn’t have been “respectful” for her to be seen in public and how she was undertaking therapy to help deal with the turmoil.

After speaking with Chapman, Wintour explained that she is “firmly convinced” the fashion star had no knowledge of her partner’s alleged behaviour, which he has denied, and that blaming her for any of the scandal would be pointless.

“I believe that one should not hold a person responsible for the actions of his or her partner. What Georgina should be receiving is our compassion and understanding. Just before we finished this issue, I met with her again,” the 68-year-old insisted. “While still in turmoil, she was intent on doing her best for the children she loves so much, and ready for life as an independent woman.”

Scarlett Johansson has become the first A-list star to wear a Marchesa gown in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

The Ghost in the Shell actress stepped out in a dark red gown with ombre tulle skirt to the event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday night (07May18), while her Saturday Night Live actor beau Colin Jost donned a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo.

While Johansson looked gorgeous in the dress, her choice of ensemble also marked a return to the spotlight for Marchesa, which is co-designed by Weinstein’s estranged wife Georgina Chapman, and has faced an unofficial Hollywood boycott since news of the disgraced movie mogul’s alleged sexual misconduct broke last year (17). Weinstein has denied all accusations.

Johansson has not yet commented on her choice of outfit for the fashion bash, which was themed Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, while representatives for Chapman and Marchesa have also declined to talk about the star’s glamorous gown.

British designer Chapman, who runs Marchesa alongside co-founder Keren Craig, has largely stayed out of the public eye since the Weinstein scandal emerged. In October, she announced that she was divorcing Weinstein, and cancelled the Marchesa runway show which was due to be held as part of New York Fashion Week in February.

Chapman and Craig instead chose to unveil their fall/winter 2018 collection via a digital presentation.

In recent months, some high-profile names in the fashion industry have shared their support for Chapman and Marchesa, with Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) president Diane von Furstenberg, among those to rally around her.

“Georgina is a great designer, engaged board member, devoted mother and good friend,” the designer told The Hollywood Reporter in April. “We all support her.”

Scarlett Johansson is standing by her decision to wear Marchesa to the Met Gala, ending a silent celebrity boycott against the line.

The high-end fashion brand hasn’t featured on the red carpet as A-listers refuse to wear clothing from the label co-founded by Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife of alleged serial sexual predator Harvey Weinstein.

The film boss was outed in newspaper exposes published late last year (Oct17) and over 90 women have since come forward with stories of sex abuse and misconduct against Weinstein, and although Chapman announced she was leaving her embattled husband shortly after the fallout began, Marchesa still suffered a huge blow to business as a result.

Scarlett donned a burgundy Marchesa gown to the Met Gala in New York City on Monday (07May18) night, giving the brand its first high-profile red carpet appearance since the sex scandal broke, and even though her choice to sport the label has angered some critics, The Avengers: Infinity War beauty feels she made the right decision.

“I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers,” the 33-year-old star, who attended the ball with new boyfriend Colin Jost, wrote in a statement to People.

Scarlett, who has openly supported the recent #MeToo and Time’s Up anti-sexual harassment movements, commissioned the gown, and representatives for Marchesa are grateful to have worked with her throughout the bespoke design process.

“We are truly honored that Scarlett chose to wear Marchesa for the Met Gala,” a spokesperson wrote in a statement. “She is an amazingly talented actor who has incredible style and presence. It was wonderful to work so closely with her in creating this custom look.”

Brand founder and designer Georgina Chapman has kept a low profile personally and professionally since her husband’s scandal hit the headlines, choosing to cancel the Marchesa show at New York Fashion Week in February (18) to avoid potential contempt from critics.
