Badgley Mischka is auctioning off a series of fashion sketches to help raise funds for coronavirus relief efforts.

While isolating at home in Palm Beach, Florida during the lockdown, design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka began posting some of Badgley’s original sketches of women in elegant dresses to Instagram and were quickly amazed by the response they received.

“We decided to use this time creatively by working through some of our feelings with art,” they said. “After posting some of Mark’s sketches on Instagram, we had an overwhelming response and requests to purchase them so we wanted to use that opportunity to benefit people in need.”

Accordingly, Badgley and Mischka have now decided to create as many images as they can and auction them off on eBay and use any money raised to help assist those at U.S. charity Feeding America.

One hundred per cent of the purchase price of each sketch will go directly to the organisation, which provides support to a network of food banks across the nation.

In addition, every sketch sold will be personalised for each winner and be framed and shipped at no cost.

“In the face of enormous challenges, Feeding America food banks are responding with extraordinary efforts to make sure no one goes hungry during the pandemic,” stated Badgley, while Mischka added: “We were supporters of Feeding America before the pandemic, and their mission is even more critical now. Badgley Mischka is honoured to be assisting in their efforts through the artistry of fashion design.”

Bidding on the sketches will be open online until 11:59 on 17 May.

Badgley Mischka is to launch a future resort collection on a cruise ship.

Designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka founded their label in 1988 and have since gone on to build a reputation for sophisticated and elegant red carpet gowns and bridalwear.

Now, Badgley and Mischka have announced that they will unveil their 2021 resort range on Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 in May 2020 as part of the fifth annual Transatlantic Fashion Week Crossing.

“Our style is reminiscent of the glamorous Hollywood of the ’40s and we feel Cunard emulates that same style, offering patrons a chance to do their best couture and dress for a special occasion,” said Mischka, while Badgley added: “Our brands both represent effortless glamour and we are excited about this partnership and giving Cunard guests an intimate glimpse into the world of Badgley Mischka.”

Badgely and Mischka will also hold a Q&A session with guests during the seven-night cruise, with additional fashion experts that will join the voyage set to be announced shortly.

The liner will depart Southampton, England on 24 May and arrive in New York on 31 May 2020, and Josh Leibowitz, senior vice president of Cunard North America, commented that he was very excited to be bringing the fashion stars on board.

“We are thrilled that the legendary fashion team of Badgley Mischka will join Cunard for Transatlantic Fashion Week,” the executive shared. “Mark and James are true visionaries in the world of fashion and will bring a once-in-a-lifetime, bespoke sense of occasion and experience to guests onboard Queen Mary 2.”

Among the celebrities to appear on the upcoming 2019 voyage are milliner Stephen Jones, shoe designer Stuart Weitzman, and iconic model Pat Cleveland.
