Tina Fey is “very excited” to be adapting her Mean Girls musical for the big screen.

Released in 2004, the original movie starred Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert as a group of infamous high school students known as The Plastics, who befriend new girl Cady, as played by Lindsay Lohan.

The Mean Girls musical hit Broadway in 2018, and has been a huge critical success, landing 12 nominations at the Tony Awards last year.

And on Thursday, Fey confirmed that she will be bringing The Plastics back once again, after landing a deal with executives at Paramount Pictures.

“I’m very excited,” the 30 Rock star, who wrote the 2004 movie and stage production, said in a statement. “It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences.

“I’ve spent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.”

While Elizabeth Raposo, president of production at Paramount Pictures, added, “We’re thrilled to be bringing this iconic property back to the big screen in musical form with our incredible filmmaking team.”

Casting information has not yet been announced, but Fey’s husband, composer Jeff Richmond, as well as lyricist Nell Benjamin, will take charge of the movie’s music.

Lorne Michaels, who served as a producer on the original film and is one of the brains behind the hit Broadway musical, shared his delight at the news too.

“It has been a joy to work on Mean Girls and to watch it go from film, to musical, and now to musical film,” Michaels said. “I am very proud that Tina’s story and characters continue to resonate with new generations.”

Zendaya has responded to Lindsay Lohan’s comments about the Cinderella-inspired gown she wore to the 2019 Met Gala.

The Mean Girls actress was unimpressed by the light-up Tommy Hilfiger ballgown that the Spider-Man: Far From Home star wore to the prestigious fashion event in May, and noted in a scathing post on Instagram that Claire Danes wore a similar style to the bash three years ago.

Commenting on an image of Zendaya on the social media site, Lindsay raged: “Claire Danes did that with @ZacPosen already.”

The 32-year-old then addressed the Homeland star directly, and complimented Claire while throwing shade at Zendaya.

“@ClaireDanes, you wore this dress so beautifully,” she added. “I don’t know why someone thinks that they can be more chic. Ever.”

More than a month after wearing the stunning dress at the Met Gala, Zendaya has finally responded to The Parent Trap star’s criticism.

“I didn’t feel hurt by it and it didn’t make me sad because I have no idea what that person is going through,” she told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. “Maybe in some strange way, that comment made them feel better that day. People are only negative because negativity is eating away at them.”

Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach, who was dressed as the Fairy Godmother at the Met Gala and waved a magic wand to light up the 22-year-old’s dress on the red carpet, previously had his say on Lindsay’s words.

“I don’t know her,” he fired to reporters at Entertainment Tonight.

Zendaya’s fans also came to her defence on social media, with one asking Lindsay, who has not attended fashion’s biggest night since 2007: “What did you wear to the Met?”

Lindsay Lohan has taken a guess as to how some of her famous movie characters ended up.

The 32-year-old was the go-to actress for teen dramas in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, starring in films like Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and Life-Size.

Many of her movies live on with new old and new fans, and now Lindsay has pondered the fate of a few of her most famous alter egos.

“Cady Heron (from Mean Girls) is definitely back in Africa… building homes for orphaned gorillas. I mean, for sure, obviously,” she giggled in a video for Entertainment Weekly.

“Lola, (Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen), she would be a director on Broadway. She would be directing Mean Girls right now, duh!

“Anna Coleman (Freaky Friday) is now running for office. Secretary of State with Michelle Obama, probably, and Oprah Winfrey in 2020. So be sure to vote for her.”

As for the twins separated at birth she played in The Parent Trap, her very first film role in 1998 opposite Dennis Quaid and late actress Natasha Richardson, she thinks they would have ended up trading lives again.

“Hallie Parker and Annie James I think that they’ve swapped. Hallie is in London as a parenting counsellor and then Annie is in California running a vineyard,” she mused.

Some other guesses are that Maggie Peyton from Herbie Fully Loaded is now the VP at Tesla, while Just My Luck’s Ashley Albright is a “Diane von Furstenberg” like figure, running a fashion house.

“With really good luck,” Lindsay added.

And finally, although she doesn’t look set to have a role in Life-Size 2, she knows exactly what her character Casey would be up to.

“(She) would be living in Texas dating a really famous football player. And Casey would be friends with Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady and have kids parties together,” she said.

“I’m pretty sure you could put every character together and create a really good Capitol Hill office.”

Tyra Banks included a quote from her America’s Next Top Model meltdown into the Life-Size 2 script.

The supermodel famously lost her cool at contestant Tiffany Richardson back in 2005, with Tyra accusing the wannabe model of having a bad attitude.

In an emotional outburst after Tiffany was eliminated from the competition, Tyra screamed “we were all rooting for you!” and the moment soon went viral, with the phrase still being used in memes and GIFs shared across social media.

And in the sequel to her 2000 movie Life-Size, Tyra decided to pay homage to the memorable moment.

“I explained it to one of the writers. I explained what the moment was and sent some clips and said, ‘I think fans are going to react to this.’ It was a meta thing,” she recalled in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It actually got the biggest response at the premiere. You couldn’t hear the next 10 lines because everybody was laughing!”

Though Lindsay Lohan, who starred in the first film, was not able to take part in the follow-up, the crew found a clever way to pay tribute to the Mean Girls star, which Tyra said “was very touching and sweet”.

The fashion icon also found a way to update Life-Size for the present day; by rapping on the remix of her track Be a Star from the original soundtrack.

“I wanted to go as far away from the original Be a Star as possible, and I knew that rapping would do that. And now I know I’ve got ‘bars,’ is what I’m hearing people say!” she laughed.

Life-Size 2 was released in the U.S. on Sunday (02Dec18) and the 44-year-old also teased that she already has “ideas” for a Life-Size 3.

Lindsay Lohan keen to make live-action Little Mermaid with Meryl Streep

Lindsay Lohan has publicly declared to Disney that Ariel from The Little Mermaid would be her dream role.

In recent years the Mean Girls star has taken a break from acting and has focused on building a nightclub empire in Greece, though she’ll be back on the big screen in upcoming horror The Shadow Within.

And while she’s busy filming a new MTV reality series based on her Greek ventures, it seems as though Lindsay is ready to go back to acting full time.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (14Aug18), Lindsay tagged Walt Disney Studios’ bosses in an image from 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale, showing Ariel, the mermaid who dreams of being a human, and sea witch Ursula, and Lindsay declared that she wanted the part.

“My dream role with #MerylStreep,” she wrote over the picture.

This isn’t the first time Lindsay has shared her desire to play the flame-haired Disney princess; in 2017 she told her Instagram followers: “I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid @disney approve that #billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack.”

It’s not yet known if her public pleas have been listened to, as Disney executives have yet to announce the cast for the live-action remake of the story, which Rob Marshall is directing and Lin-Manuel Miranda is producing.

A separate Little Mermaid movie is about to be released in America and Britain, starring Shirley MacLaine and Poppy Drayton.

Live-action remakes of Disney animated classics Dumbo, Mulan and The Lion King will also be hitting theatres over the next two years.

New mum Amanda Seyfried thought Mamma Mia! sequel news was a joke

Actress Amanda Seyfried was convinced her agent was joking when he asked her to reprise her Mamma Mia! role for a sequel just two days after giving birth.

The Mean Girls star welcomed her first child, a baby girl, with her actor husband Thomas Sadoski in March, 2017, and she was just starting to get to grips with motherhood when she was approached for her first post-pregnancy gig.

“I was attempting to breastfeed my two-day-old daughter (when I got the call),” Amanda recalled on breakfast show Today.

“I had just come home from the hospital and I got the call from the agent and I was like, ‘This is a joke,’ because how could I possibly prepare to do something so amazing in my career and be able to balance this? But it worked out.”

Amanda, 32, admits she was also a little apprehensive about making a follow-up to the 2008 hit film almost a decade after the original ABBA-inspired movie musical was released, because she wasn’t sure how the plot would work.

“I thought, ‘How is this possible? What is the story gonna be?,'” she said, “and then I read the script and I was like, ‘Oh, OK, this is perfect!'”

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is set after the events of the first movie, but features flashbacks to the late 1970s, when Meryl Streep’s lead character, Donna Sheridan, attempts to figure out who fathered her daughter, Sophie, played by Amanda.

British beauty Lily James was cast as the young Donna, and the former Downton Abbey star admits she was initially nervous to step into Streep’s shoes for the project.

“I was so intimidated and terrified,” she confessed, “but then… I just focused on what a gift to play Donna Sheridan, and draw from everything Meryl did; she created the most fearless, passionate woman, and so I felt I just couldn’t not do it.”

The movie reunites Seyfried and Streep with original co-stars Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, and Dominic Cooper, while cast newcomers include Andy Garcia and Cher, who portrays Donna’s estranged mother.

Kerry Washington dazzled in a silver jumpsuit at the 2018 Tony Awards on Sunday night (10Jun18).

The Scandal actress, who is currently gearing up to headline in the production of American Son, led the glamour at the Broadway celebration held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Kerry stepped out in a stunning Atelier Versace number complete with plunging neckline, cutouts on the bodice, crystal embellishment and a dramatic train. She topped off the ensemble with bling from Lorraine Schwartz and Orifa Jewels.

“I figured that I wanted to sparkle a little,” the 41-year-old told Entertainment Tonight of her outfit. “I love theatre and I’m so excited to be coming back to Broadway. So, I wanted to really make tonight as festive as possible.”

But Kerry wasn’t the only star to wear silver to the bash; Mean Girls musical writer Tina Fey hit the red carpet in a long silver gown with feather detailing on the skirt from Thom Browne and Cartier jewellery while Tiffany Haddish rocked a shimmering grey Michael Kors jumpsuit.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress Rachel Brosnahan made a return to the red carpet following the death of her aunt, fashion designer Kate Spade, choosing a beautiful rose print Dolce & Gabbana gown with long sleeves for the occasion.

Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany chose a floral dress from Zac Posen and Mean Girls show star Taylor Louderman was elegant in a colour-blocked pink, white and orange gown designed by Christian Siriano.

“Chic and fabulous! The amazing #taylorlouderman looked so amazing tonight in custom Siriano at the #tonyawards,” the designer gushed over Taylor’s look in a post shared on Instagram.

But it wasn’t just the ladies who got dressed up for the night; The Boys in the Band actors Matt Bomer, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells and Jim Parsons attended the show in colour-coordinated tuxedos from Paul Smith.

Lindsay Lohan is excited about the versatile lipstick she has created for her new beauty brand.

The actress currently resides in Dubai, after living in both New York and London, and divulged in a recent interview on The Wendy Williams Show that she has been busy working on a make-up line that will apparently drop in the next few months.

Lindsay is keeping details of her cosmetics company under wraps, though her range will include a carefully formulated lip product.

“I love lipstick, but I love using lipstick as blush,” the 31-year-old told W magazine. “But if I have a cream blush, I want to be able to use it on my lips and not worry about breaking out after. So, I developed one.”

A teaser image of the line displays a compact and a single powder eyeshadow in addition to a pair of lipsticks.

The Mean Girls star, who has previously done short stints in jail and rehab for drink driving and cocaine use, has mainly been focusing on her business ventures of late, and is working towards the launch of a new clothing range too.

Lindsay has already designed a line for Lavish Alice as well as helming her own label, 6126 Collection, which started life as a leggings line before expanding into a full apparel and footwear brand.

However, she has now recruited a Dubai-based stylist to help her with the design process and noted that her latest collection will take a different direction to previous ventures.

“I did my leggings line, but I think I was filming (too much), and I didn’t have the focus. (This is) closer to haute couture,” she said.
