Hilary Rhoda is to become a first-time mother.

The model, who is perhaps best known for her work with Estee Lauder and appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that she and her sportsman husband Sean Avery are expecting a son.

“It’s a boy,” she wrote alongside a snap of herself cradling her growing baby bump while sitting on a sofa. “@imseanavery and I are having a baby and we’re so excited about this next chapter of life together.”

Accordingly, a number of Hilary’s celebrity pals were quick to send her congratulatory messages, including the likes of Martha Hunt, Brooklyn Decker, Nicky Hilton, Georgia Fowler, and Nina Agdal.

“Congratulations to you guys!!!!! What an amazing news (sic),” Natasha Poly wrote, while Carolyn Murphy added: “Yay mama and papa.”

However, when announcing the news on her Instagram Stories, Hilary added that falling pregnant hadn’t been easy.

“We’re having a baby! The last year has been quite a journey getting to this point, lots of ups & downs… but for those trying to conceive, all I can say is just keep going,” the 32-year-old wrote, along with a red heart emoji. “Trying to conceive is a mindf**k and might have almost ended our marriage once or twice.”

Meanwhile, Sean opened up about his journey with Hilary on his podcast No F**ks Given, revealing she had suffered two miscarriages before they conceived their baby boy.

“The moment we took the noise, science and methods out of it – that’s how you make a baby in tough times,” he said, explaining that it was when he returned home from a five-week trip that the conception happened.

Hilary and former National Hockey League player Sean, 39, married in October 2015.

“One Week Ago Little Angel Came In To Our Life. Adrian Grey Bakker,” she captioned a sweet snap of her posing with the infant, adding that little Adrian was born on 30 March 2019.

Natasha Poly is pregnant with her second child.

The supermodel and her husband Peter Bakker are already parents to five-year-old daughter Aleksandra, and on Thursday (16Nov18) she took to social media to tell fans that her family will soon be welcoming a new addition.

In a sweet black-and-white photo posted to Instagram, Natasha and Aleksandra are wearing pyjamas and laying on a bad with their eyes shut, as both their hands rest on the Russian star’s baby bump.

“Baby N2,” she captioned the post, followed by emojis including a baby and pregnant mother.

The touching post received liked from models including Karlie Kloss and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, while many other fashion starlets flocked to share their messages of congratulations with Natasha.

“Congrats beauty!!!!! So happy for you and your family,” wrote Lily Aldridge, while Doutzen Kroes similarly added, “So excited for you and your beautiful family!! Congratulations love.”

Meanwhile, mother-of-two Candice Swanepoel suspected Natasha’s good news all along, commenting, “I knew it!!!!”

Though the Victoria’s Secret Angel may have had a hunch, the 33-year-old’s pregnancy bombshell will likely come as a surprise to most, since she showed no signs of a baby bump when she attended an event organised by her modelling agency, Women Management, last Wednesday (07Nov18).

Sporting a girly pink hairstyle, Natasha looked incredibly trim and taut as she posed in a fitted black blazer with a plunging neckline and slim-fitted trousers by Dsquared2, accessorised with high heels and a black handbag with chain detailing.

Naomi Campbell hinted at retirement plans as she led proceedings at the Fashion for Relief gala in Cannes, France on Sunday night (13May18).

The British supermodel fronted the fashion tribe at the event held at the Aeroport Cannes Mandelieu, where she was joined by the likes of Bella Hadid, Winnie Harlow and Natalia Vodianova.

And though the 47-year-old stole the show, she hinted that her catwalk days may be coming to an end very soon.

“I don’t know if I can walk much longer, it’s been 32 years,” she said during the charity showcase. “But it’s an honour to walk… I’d love for it to be carried on by the younger generation and for me to sit in the audience and watch.”

Fashion for Relief was founded in 2005 and has gone on to raise vast sums thanks to donations from the world’s most reputable fashion houses. Naomi walked the runway wearing a fitted black corset paired with a wide pink skirt, jazzed up with floral patterns and graffiti prints. The outfit was topped off with a glamorous choker necklace and matching earrings.

The fashion icon later donned a one-shouldered sheer sequinned dress which she paired with golden metallic ankle boots, while a similar outfit was also modelled by Bella, who instead walked in dainty gold sandals.

The 21-year-old also displayed a peach satin gown with lace-up sides and was cheered on by her ex-boyfriend, Canadian singer The Weeknd, with whom she was recently spotted kissing at a party in the French city.

Winnie, 23, sported a more eccentric number, with a jumpsuit embellished with 3D flowers which were also visible throughout her eye-catching floral headpiece, before switching to a sexy black fishnet dress.

Natalia, 36, looked stunning in a pink, studded dress, while fashion legend Carla Bruni also spoke at the charity bash and looked stunning in a white gown which she accessorised with a long diamante chain.

Balmain is auctioning its Met Gala outfits to raise money for charity.

The French fashion house manufactured several garments for the exclusive New York event held on Monday night (07May18), with celebrities to sport the label including Natalia Vodianova, Natasha Poly, and Jennifer Lopez.

Following the bash, Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing has announced that the outfits will be sold later this month to raise funds for (RED), a charity founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006 to help in the fight against AIDS.

“After meeting Bono, we wanted to figure out how my fashion and vision can help,” he explained in an interview with Refinery29. “It’s a paradox: I live in a French, haute couture/luxury world, but sometimes people forget that, when you’re a designer, it’s not just about selling clothes – it’s about having a vision.”

Pieces worn by Trevor Noah, Juliette Binoche and Julia Stegner will also be available to buy at IfOnly.com/RED from 7-21 May. Prices will start at $5,000 (£3,700) and all proceeds will go to the foundation’s Global Fund, which works to eliminate the transmission of HIV from mothers to their babies.

This year’s Met Gala theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, and the designer’s own faith encouraged him to make “the most spectacular creations” in order to raise as much money as possible for charity.

“I’m inspired by religion. More than that, I’m inspired by love,” Rousteing shared. “I told my team, ‘I know that these won’t be ours at the end. But they’re going to auction for (RED).’ I wanted to make the most memorable clothes not just by their craftsmanship, embroidery, or cut, but because all of that would go toward helping kids survive.”

Balmain’s holographic hoopla at Paris Fashion Week

Balmain revved up the sparkle factor at its fall/winter 18 Paris Fashion Week show on Friday (02Mar18).

Just like prismatic make-up is taking over beauty, Balmain head Olivier Rousteing proved that holographic shades work just as well on clothes, with the presentation proving to be a refreshing change from the normal muted fall/winter runways.

Rousteing’s ‘Balmain army’ strutted in an array of shiny, sparkly pieces, including a silver holographic suit, tasselled dress and long-sleeved top covered in flat hologram silver sequins, worn by Natasha Poly.

Shiny black and silver looks also featured, including a dress reminiscent of tin foil and a silver quilted trouser suit.

As well as high-end evening looks, Rousteing mixed in more casual clothes, with ripped jeans paired with a matching silver jacket and top, and oversized knits worn with flowing, shining skirts,

Adding to the space-age vibe were clear plastic boots that finished well above the knee.

Earlier in the day, Loewe proved underwear can be outerwear at its show in the French capital.

Models stormed the runway in floor-sweeping gowns, loose-fitting suits and leather coats, with a few of the girls wearing outfits accessorised with an open strapless bra sewed on to the front.

Stomach-baring designs also played a key role, with designer Jonathan Anderson obviously not letting the chilly winter weather get in the way of a fashion statement.

Sticking to a mainly subdued palette of black, brown, grey and cream, Anderson did inject some colour with long leather coats in teal, and a blue sweater.

Leather featured heavily, and as well as a procession of leather coats, Anderson used the material on jacket lapels and pockets, and even the neckline of one chequered dress.

Caped suit jackets were a highlight, and were seen in a brown, black and white chequered print, paired with matching, loose trousers, giving workwear a stylish update.

Givenchy, Balenciaga and Valentino are among the labels showing at Paris Fashion Week this weekend.

Investment company Sapinda has acquired high-end lingerie brand La Perla.

The Amsterdam-based global investment group announced plans to buy a majority stake in the label on Monday (26Feb18) which is currently owned by Italian businessman Silvio Scaglia through Pacific Global Management.

Since taking over the brand in 2013, Scaglia has implemented a major turnaround strategy involving opening new boutiques and tapping major models such as Kendall Jenner for campaigns but is now selling the Bologna-based company.

“I know that Sapinda has the necessary resources to take La Perla to the next level and continue my vision of building a global luxury brand, but keeping production in Europe,” Scaglia said in a statement, adding he is certain Sapinda executives will continue with his vision for the label. “La Perla heritage in corsetry was the foundation for starting a real revolution in fashion. We are proud to have a unique team, with the ability to create luxurious and unique products which are made in Italy.”

In late December (17), bosses at Chinese conglomerate Fosun International confirmed they were interested in buying La Perla. However, negotiations hit a stumbling block, with Reuters reporting that La Perla bosses didn’t want production moved out of Europe.

Lars Windhorst, co-founder of Sapinda, added that he had been seeking to enter the luxury space for a while and was excited by La Perla’s future.

“Silvio and his team have done a tremendous job in expanding the business in a sector that continues to demonstrate huge growth potential,” he said. “We are prepared to further invest, to improve the financial performance of the company and to continue implementing Silvio’s vision.”

Scaglia, the founder of telecommunication firm Fastweb, purchased La Perla at auction for $81 million (£57 million). He soon launched a Made to Measure line, available in flagship stores, which features a bespoke design with gold embroidery. In addition, La Perla’s first Atelier collection was unveiled during Paris Couture Week in 2015, with models including Naomi Campbell, Isabeli Fontana and Natasha Poly walking the runway.

Natasha Poly picked up some unusual food-based beauty tips when she was younger.

The model grew up in Soviet Russia in the ‘80s and ‘90s, which meant it was some time before Western practices regarding fashion and beauty reached the country.

As a result, Natasha had to rifle through a 1950’s book her grandmother gave her for beauty hints and tips as a youngster.

“I once boiled up the brown skin of an onion and washed my hair with it to dye it strawberry orange. It worked,” the 32-year-old revealed to The Guardian. “I also learned how to use water bottles as weights to stay in shape and how to make a hair mask from egg (and from beer, which smelled pretty bad).

“One thing that definitely works is putting fresh strawberries all over your face, like a mask. It’s great on sunburned skin because of all the vitamin C.”

The fashion icon adopts a more conventional approach to beauty nowadays and cites Laura Mercier’s Rose Nourishing Oil and Secret Concealer as two of her favourite everyday products, while she relies on Kevyn Aucoin’s contour kits for red carpet appearances.

And though Natasha has had a hugely successful career, fronting campaigns for top brands including Gucci, Prada and Versace, she mourns the effects the job has had on her tresses.

“Modelling will destroy your hair,” she groaned. “I used to go to my hotel after every show and wash my hair because it was so wrecked from ironing and back-combing. If I was doing five shows a day, that was five washes a day.”
