Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss have returned to the set of The Matrix 4 following the Covid-19 lockdown.

The cast and crew had been busy shooting the hotly-anticipated sequel in Germany when the worldwide health pandemic forced the set to shut down in March earlier this year.

After adhering to stringent safety guidelines, production is back up and running this week, much to the delight of fans of the sci-fi series, which last hit cinema screens in 2003.

Reeves and Moss were seen reprising their iconic roles of Neo and Trinity on location in Berlin earlier this week, in a series of photos released by TMZ. Neil Patrick Harris, who is a new addition to the cast, was also spotted getting back into character on the set. Little is known about his role in the latest installment, leading to fierce speculation among movie fans.

Jada Pinkett Smith, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will also feature.

The Matrix 4 is directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. She is hoping to follow on from the success of it’s predecessors The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The original film, which came out in 1999, took home four Oscars, winning in all of the categories it was nominated for.

The film had already been forced to delay its release date from May 2021 to April 2022 due to the global health crisis.

Mindy Kaling has dressed up as Brad Pitt’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood character for Halloween.

The actress took to Instagram on Thursday to share a snap of her outfitted in jeans, a Champion T-shirt with Hawaiian shirt over top, with the look completed with a blonde wig and Mindy carrying a toy dog. In the accompanying caption, she explained that she was inspired by Brad’s stuntman character in Quentin Tarantino’s movie.

“Call me Cliff Booth,” she wrote.

Mindy’s hilarious costume quickly garnered over 100,000 likes and praise from her celebrity friends, such as Glen Powell, who wrote, “Spot on,” and Andy Favreau, who gushed: “Holy s**t amazing.”

Other stars to get into the Halloween spirit included Jennifer Garner, who dressed as a post box, Cardi B, who transformed into Poison Ivy for the night, and Bella Hadid, who opted to go as a sexy Fred Flintstone.

Heidi Klum went all out for her annual Halloween party and transformed into a gruesome alien, while Georgia Fowler channelled Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka dressed as the Olsen twins, Mariah Carey as a glam rocker, and Halima Aden as Maleficent.

Elsewhere, new couple Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson went as Perri Lister and Billy Idol, Lizzo dressed as a DNA test in reference to the lyric “100 per cent that b**ch” in her single Truth Hurts, and Normani went all out as Cher circa 1979.

Of course, the Kardashians got into the action too, with Kim Kardashian copying Reese Witherspoon’s iconic looks as Elle Woods in hit movie Legally Blonde, Khloe dressing as Cruella de Vil, and Kourtney partying the night away in a cowgirl ensemble.

Neil Patrick Harris often compares his own personal style to that of Simon Cowell.

The How I Met Your Mother actor has a very different sense of style to his husband David Burtka and likes to keep timeless pieces in his wardrobe that don’t go out of fashion.

“I tend to wear grey a lot. It’s my favourite colour so I have all kinds of grey pants, grey V-neck T-shirts. I’m like the grey Simon Cowell in my own mind,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “My husband is much more Mr Porter – much classier. And so, we’ve just gone from T-shirts to Gucci, which is lovely.”

Harris is also a big fan of trousers that give him a four-way stretch, because he “jumps around a lot” being a father to his nine-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon.

“Otherwise, if I’m dressing up, I like to dress a little bit timeless, so if God forbid I see a picture of myself five years in the past, I don’t cringe,” the 46-year-old shared.

And the star is well-known for getting into the holiday spirit, and goes all-out celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving. However, it’s Christmas that Harris is especially excited for, and he and Burtka like to dress the part.

“We really live it up. The fourth quarter is very exciting in the Burtka-Harris household… I’m excited by the holiday sweaters, because usually, we buy new ones every year just so we’re not having to dig out mothball-ridden things from the past,” he added.

Neil Patrick Harris has landed a mysterious role in the fourth instalment of the Matrix franchise.

The 46-year-old will join original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity for Lana Wachowski’s highly anticipated sci-fi movie, The Matrix 4.

Details of the How I Met Your Mother star’s casting are under wraps, with sources close to the project not yet confirming who Harris will play, according to editors at Variety.

However, fans on social media have speculated that the actor may be playing a different incarnation of Morpheus, who was portrayed by Laurence Fishburne in the original trilogy.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was tapped as one of the leads in the Matrix 4 last week, and it was also reported that Jada Pinkett Smith is in talks to reprise her role as Niobe.

The 48-year-old played the character in the second and third movies – The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions – with reporters at Deadline claiming she is still in negotiations over the part.

News of The Matrix 4 was announced back in August, and Wachowski, who will write and direct the film, stated that the issues explored in the original movies “are even more relevant now”.

“I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends,” she said in a statement at the time.

Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell will serve as co-writers on the script with Wachowski, who will also produce with Grant Hill.

The film is expected to begin production at the beginning of 2020 and will be released in 2022.
