Coach has partnered with Japanese streetwear label BAPE on a new capsule collection.

Executives at the New York-based label announced the collaboration on Tuesday, with the line to include outerwear, ready-to-wear, footwear, and leather goods.

“The collection of leather goods and ready-to-wear represents a fusion of the established codes of both brands, and celebrates the unique attitudes of their hometowns, New York City and Tokyo,” a Coach representative commented. “Bold and playful, BAPE x Coach channels the labels’ shared spirit of authentic self-expression and unexpected urban style.”

The limited-edition range includes an interpretation of Coach’s signature pattern crossed with BAPE’s Ape Head logo, rendered in camouflage, khaki and rainbow jacquard fabric. Other highlights include a leather jacket, the BAPESTA sneakers, and backpacks.

In addition, T-shirts in regionally exclusive colourways will be available in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris, and London.

“To underscore the connection between two fashion houses from two global capitals, the BAPE x Coach lookbook features talent photographed in their hometown cities. Model and songwriter Koki brought the collection to life in the Ebisu District of Shibuya in Tokyo, while actor and musician Quincy Brown brought his own style to the line in Williamsburg, Brooklyn,” they added.

Both stars were photographed by Quil Lemons.

The BAPE x Coach collection will available to purchase online as well as at select boutiques.

Prabal Gurung has paid tribute to New York City with his fall/winter 2020 collection.

The Nepalese-American fashion designer unveiled his latest line, titled Impossible Dreamers, at the Rainbow Room as part of New York Fashion Week on Tuesday, with the likes of Indya Moore and Nicky Hilton perched on the front row.

Regarding his inspiration, Gurung shared in his show notes that the range stemmed from a quote penned by author Joan Didion about the Big Apple and his own experiences.

“No one ever truly gets over New York City. It’s not just a place – it is a feeling of belonging and purpose that leaves an indelible mark on your identity,” he commented. “To those that know the city well, the skyline bears a familiar smirk, a twinkle of glee in the understanding that some will never learn the beauty of its chaos. The sirens are our anthem, the taxis our chariots, billboards copper our eyes, and we are guided by our vagabond shoes, we feel that anything is possible, and the energetic vibration of the air stirs our souls awake. This urban jungle builds dreams of sheer grit and tenacity.”

To open, a model walked the runway in a sharp white suit with black lapels and a large button attached to the centre of the jacket. A mix of elegant black dresses, white jackets, and mint green numbers followed. Gurung also played with feathers, attaching them to jackets, skirts, and stoles.

Other highlights included an eclectic mix of floral and leopard print pieces, as well as a dramatic line-up of eveningwear designs, such as a strapless gown made from sky-blue tulle and a slinky black velvet gown with silver beading and cutouts.

Ashley Graham has celebrated the impending arrival of her first child with a fun-filled baby shower.

The model and her husband Justin Ervin, who announced they are expecting a little boy last week, gathered with family and friends at The Foundry in New York City on Friday, where they had set up a candy bar, as well as separate manicure, tattoo, and piercing stations.

Alongside a series of happy snaps showing Ashley posing with loved ones on her Instagram page, she wrote, “Feeling so blessed to have such a strong support system in our lives. Thank you to everyone who came together to celebrate our baby boy! I’ve never had so many hands on my belly and I LOVE IT! We feel so lucky and excited to be experiencing this new chapter with all of you in our lives and everyone who has shared so much love here!”

In addition to the unique entertainment options, Ashley also partnered with the team at parenting equipment company Frida, which offers products and tools designed to help prepare mothers for the time before and after giving birth.

“The minute I meet another pregnant woman or new mom the first thing we do is exchange the ‘list’ of must-have items to help get through pregnancy and postpartum. The second thing that happens is that I have to pee. @fridamom and @fridababy are at the top of every mom’s list and I feel so lucky to have partnered with such an incredible brand! We need to be having honest conversations about what happens with our own bodies and I love that they inspire us to do that. @cmrh (Chelsea Rosen Hirschhorn) thank you for all that you do for moms out there!” the 32-year-old added.

Ashley announced her pregnancy news via Instagram back in August. She is due in January.

Curators at the Metropolitan Museum of Art are reportedly planning an exhibition dedicated to the late Karl Lagerfeld.

The German couturier, who oversaw Chanel, Fendi, and his own namesake brand, died at the age of 85 in February from complications relating to pancreatic cancer.

While the fashion world is still reeling from Lagerfeld’s death, editors at WWD are now reporting that executives at the museum in New York City are working on a showcase in honour of the legendary designer.

Sources have told the publication that Andrew Bolton, curator and current head of The Met’s Costume Institute, will oversee the showcase, and it is set to take place in 2022. Representatives for The Met have declined to report on the speculation.

However, should the exhibition get the green light, curators will have stacks of material to work with, as Lagerfeld not only led fashion houses but also worked as a creative director, artist, caricaturist and photographer.

He was also recognised around the world for his signature uniform, typically comprised of a black suit, black sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and starched white collars.

Lagerfeld unveiled his final Metiers d’Art collection outside of the ancient Egyptian Temple of Dendur, housed within The Met, last December.

However, he was absent from the Chanel couture show held in Paris in January, with a representative for the French house noting he could not attend due to illness. His right-hand woman at Chanel, Virginie Viard, took the final bow in his place, and has since taken over creative direction at the brand.

Lagerfeld did not have a funeral, but bosses from all three brands that he worked for teamed together in June to hold the tribute event, entitled Karl For Ever, at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Bella Hadid has been tapped to front the campaign for Michael Kors’ latest charitable initiative.

The 22-year-old, who often appears in the American designer’s runway shows, fronts the marketing imagery for the label’s #MKGO Rainbow capsule for summer 2019 – which is inspired by Pride and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising that launched the gay rights movement in the U.S. and around the world.

In addition, Bella poses in a special #MKGO Rainbow Pride T-shirt, with 100 per cent of the proceeds benefitting God’s Love We Deliver, a non-profit organisation and pillar of the LGBTQ+ community that cooks and delivers 1.8 million meals annually to those too sick to shop or cook for themselves throughout the New York area.

“God’s Love We Deliver has always been near and dear to my heart,” said Kors in a statement. “During the ’80s, when the HIV/AIDS epidemic was raging through New York City, they were one of the first organisations to be there for the gay community. It’s an honour to donate to them today through sales of the #MKGO Rainbow Pride T-shirt.”

Model Austin Augie joins Bella in the campaign too, with the rest of the capsule collection including classic silhouettes, casual separates and signature logo accessories with optimistic hues and rainbow motifs.

Other highlights include a sequined T-shirt dress, high-top sneakers, as well as a quilted Whitney shoulder bag.

“Pride is about celebrating your authentic self and remembering all the incredible people who came before us to get us where we are today,” added Kors. “This capsule is about getting dressed with joy and celebrating each other.”

The #MKGO Rainbow Pride T-shirt is priced at $58 (£45).

Taylor Swift has given fans a glimpse at what appears to be her new line of merchandise.

The Shake It Off singer, who has been teasing followers that she is gearing up to release new music on Friday (26Apr19) by sharing a countdown clock on her website, stepped out in New York City on Monday sporting pink floral shorts and a matching T-shirt, with one of the sleeves of her top printed with her name in a bold white font.

Later on, Taylor also wore a similar floral dress under a red blazer to her pal Gigi Hadid’s 24th birthday party, causing many fans to speculate that she is gearing up to unveil a line of clothing and accessories to accompany her upcoming seventh studio album.

“Could this be potential new merch?!?!!! The sleeve clearly says TAYLOR SWIFT!! #TaylorSwiftApril26,” one Twitter user wrote, while another commented, “Imma need this glittery flower merch in my life asap.”

A third added: “OMG (oh my God), what if she’s going to start her own clothing and jewellery line.”

The floral theme of her latest ensembles also nicely complements Taylor’s new pink dip-dyed hair, which she first rocked at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards in March.

In addition, the superstar has been sharing clues that something major is on the horizon on her Instagram page, and in recent days has uploaded close-up images of pink sequin fabric, a light blue bicycle, heart-shaped jewellery, pastel tiles, and pink and yellow handbags. All of the snaps have been captioned, “4.26.”

If Taylor does end up dropping new tunes on Friday, it will be her first material since leaving Big Machine Label Group and moving over to Republic Records and Universal Music Group.

Elie Tahari celebrating 45 years in fashion business

Elie Tahari has reflected on the changes occurring in the fashion industry as he marks 45 years in the business.

The Iranian-Israeli fashion designer emigrated to the United States in 1971 with less than $100 in his pocket, and soon started his own clothing line, popularising the tube top in 1973.

Tahari launched his eponymous brand the following year with a namesake boutique on Madison Avenue in New York City, and while he now has stores around the world, he is adamant the key to his ongoing success is remaining hands-on with his products.

“I’m not good at managing the business. I’m good as a merchant, as a product person,” he said in an interview with WWD. “I’ve always been involved with the product and I’m always in charge of the product. That was our strength.”

In the 1980s, Tahari became known for his sharply tailored suits for women, and over the course of his career, has introduced more categories to the label, such as men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, jewellery, and footwear.

Yet, he confessed that keeping up with changes in technology is what exhausts him the most.

“The business is changing so fast. I’d be a fool if I say I know where it’s going. It’s definitely going digital,” the 67-year-old noted.

Tahari is to unveil his fall 2019 collection as part of New York Fashion Week on Thursday (07Feb19).

To mark the anniversary of his label, the designer has some surprises in store, and previously announced that supermodel Christie Brinkley, 65, and her 20-year-old daughter Sailor Cook will appear in the presentation, marking the first time they have walked the runway together.

“The Elie Tahari brand has always been for every woman, and that is why I’m so excited about having Christie and Sailor walk in our show because Christie is timeless, and Sailor represents the cool, on-the-go woman, who also wears our clothes,” he recently told Page Six. “It is important for me to make clothes for women of all types, inclusive of any age.”

Christie Brinkley was nearly brought to tears when one of her fancy stilettos become stuck in an escalator at a recent event.

The model and businesswoman made an appearance at the premiere of National Geographic film Paris to Pittsburgh at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday night (03Dec18), but as she left the building with some friends, she suffered a major fashion disaster when one of her Christian Louboutin high heels became caught in the grate of an escalator step.

“My brand-new Christian Louboutin!” she is seen crying out while standing on the escalator in a video posted to her Instagram page. “My shoe is stuck… Nooo!”

Towards the end of the clip, the person shooting the footage zoomed-in on the shoe, which appeared to be fully stuck in the step and have its thin heel mangled.

And as a pair of Louboutin stilettos cost at least $700 (£545), it’s understandable why the blonde beauty was more than a little upset.

However, in the accompanying caption to the video, Christie displayed her humorous side and explained what happened with a series of footwear-related puns.

“It hurts my SOLE to see this agony of deFEAT ..the escalator won this time… but I’ll be back with another pair of sparklers! OH HEEL YEAH!” the 64-year-old joked. “Somebody call the police… the fashion police! There’s no business like shoe business… now what will I wear to all the Pumps and circumstance tomorrow night at the Footwear Achievement Awards! Hope you’re getting a kick out of this… actually I’m the one who needs a new kick! That pump was a real heel ..my new ARCH RIVAL! Haha! Have I PUNished you enough toe-night? Lol! Gotta laugh!”

Prior to Christie’s shoe drama, she uploaded a photo showing her posing with Martha Stewart and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg at the bash.

“An Absolutely Vital Film of our Times #paristopittsburgh is a Must See because we can make a difference and we MUST!” she wrote alongside the happy snap. “@bloombergdotorg Thank You! @marthastewart great to see you! @natgeo I love you!”

Taylor Hill has been tapped to front campaigns for new Victoria’s Secret fragrances Tease and Tease Rebel.

The 22-year-old model first walked the runway for the American lingerie giant in 2014 and was named as a Victoria’s Secret Angel the following year.

Now, Taylor is expanding her partnership with the company and is appearing in the new marketing imagery for the Tease perfume and its sister fragrance, Tease Rebel.

“There’s nothing more personal than fragrance – you want yours to enhance your individuality,” a brand representative said of Tease in a statement. “That’s why it was important to us to make sure Tease created a unique signature on each woman who wears it. We started with gardenia petals spiked with black vanilla. The unexpected bite of frozen pear. A touch of sandalwood. Warm yet fresh, the notes amplify in reaction to your body heat, so the fragrance blooms on skin.”

In one campaign image, Taylor is seen posing in a large black hoodie, fishnet tights and boots, while another snap shows her standing in a rocker-inspired ensemble comprised of jeans and a black leather jacket.

The brunette beauty appears in a television commercial for the line too, and also stepped out at the brand’s flagship boutique in New York City on Monday (27Aug18) to promote the new additions to the scent collections.

She opted to wear a striking outfit complete with red trousers, black corset top and a black leather jacket as she invited fans to check out the Tease perfumes.

The Tease Eau de Parfum is priced at $55 (£45) and is now available to purchase from the Victoria’s Secret website. The Tease range also includes a fragrance mist, a rollerball and a body lotion.

Emily Ratajkowski is finally wearing an engagement ring, nearly five months after tying the knot.

The model-turned-actress, who has been wearing a simple gold band since she secretly wed music producer Sebastian Bear-McClard in February (18) after a whirlwind romance, took to Instagram on Wednesday night (11Jul18) to debut her bling.

In a captionless image of her newly-dressed hand, the two-stone sparkler, which includes one teardrop cut diamond and one princess cut diamond on a thin gold band, sits underneath her thick gold wedding ring. Husband Sebastian, 31, can be seen in the background smiling broadly.

The I Feel Pretty star then shared a selfie holding the new sparkler up to her face with a simple star emoji as the caption, and later, posted a close-up of the ring to her Instagram Stories.

Emily wed the producer at a secret courthouse ceremony in New York City.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon in April, the 27-year-old revealed that Sebastian was forced to improvise when he asked her to marry him because he hadn’t bought a ring.

“He proposed to me at Minetta Tavern (a restaurant in New York) and he didn’t have a ring,” she shared during The Tonight Show. “He then took the paperclip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring, which I actually thought was really romantic.”

Emily, who designed her own collection of fine jewellery for luxury brand Spinelli Kilcollin in May, also confessed her wedding band was only supposed to be temporary.

“We walked into Chinatown and bought an ounce of gold and he was like, ‘We’ll melt down the gold and make the rings,'” she shared with Jimmy. “It was supposed to be temporary but I’m now growing attached to it and I don’t wanna get rid of it. I just feel like making it yourself, could it be more personal?”
