Plus-size model Tess Holliday has come out as pansexual.
The 33-year-old revealed during an interview with Nylon magazine that she prefers to identify herself as pansexual, defined as “not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity,” rather than her previous label of bisexual.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about my relationship to my own queerness, and I think the word pansexual speaks to me more than bi does,” she explained. “I feel like a lot of stuff in my life now makes sense. A lot of the things that I felt when I was younger make sense. A lot of the relationships that I had make sense.
“I definitely have a sense of relief. I can connect with people on a more intimate level than I was before, because I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not.”
When the interviewer asked Tess, who is married to artist Nick Holliday, if that means she’d consider being in a relationship with a woman, she replied with an emphatic “Yeah!”
Elsewhere in the interview, Tess addressed her previous admission that she had an abortion after welcoming her second child with Nick. Her revelation divided opinion, with many criticising the stunning brunette for being so open about her termination, but Tess remains unsure why she felt “shame” over the decision.
“Why is it controversial that I chose to talk about my abortion? And the fact that I got an abortion when I was in a marriage and could have financially supported a child, why did I feel so much shame for that?” she mused.

Tess Holliday has hit back at nasty comments she’s a burden to the British healthcare system after she landed her first Cosmopolitan cover.
Tess shows off her U.S. size 22 body on the cover of the latest issue of the British magazine, where she’s seen blowing a kiss to the camera in a satin green lingerie body. The tagline reads: “Tess Holliday wants the haters to kiss her a*s.”
The cover has come under fire by some who accuse the plus-size model of promoting an unhealthy lifestyle, but Tess has a clear message for her critics.
“To everyone saying I’m a burden to the British health care system, I’m american so you don’t have to worry about my fat ass. Worry about what horrible people you are by whining about how me being on the cover of a glossy magazine impacts your small minded life,” she blasted on Twitter.
One person who’s been vocal about his disdain for the 33-year-old’s latest modelling gig is ranting broadcaster Piers Morgan.
Sharing the Cosmo cover on his own Instagram account, Piers fumed: “As Britain battles an ever-worsening obesity crisis, this is the new cover of Cosmo. Apparently we’re supposed to view it as a ‘huge step forward for body positivity.’ What a load of old baloney. This cover is just as dangerous & misguided as celebrating size zero models.”
Tess, who recently started working out with personal trainer Massy Arias, has always maintained she leads a healthy lifestyle, with her husband Nick Holliday previously telling Cover Media that the flame-haired star suffers no health problems.
“The thing is they don’t believe her, they’re like ‘but what about your health?’ Do you have high blood pressure? No. Do you have diabetes. No. And they’re like but you’re going to get heart disease. Well maybe, but my dad’s got heart disease and he weighs like 100lbs,” Nick ranted.
