Philipp Plein has defended the use of helicopters on the runway during his tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

The designer presented his fall/winter 2020 collection as part of Milan Fashion Week on Saturday and also used the occasion to debut a capsule line that was created in honour of the basketball icon and his daughter, Gianna.

Kobe and the 13-year-old, nicknamed Gigi, were killed, along with seven others, when the helicopter they were travelling in crashed in Los Angeles on 26 January.

Plein enlisted the likes of Olivia Culpo and Jada Pinkett-Smith to showcase his tribute to the sportsman during the spectacle, with the stars wearing sparkly purple and gold tops which featured Kobe’s jersey number from when he played for the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, it was the gilded Philipp Plein-branded helicopters, planes, and yachts included in the extravagant set that irked fans, who took to social media to criticise the thoughtlessness.

In light of the backlash, Plein issued a statement on Monday defending his show and explained that the backdrop was designed back in November, two months before the basketballer’s tragic death.

“I would have clearly removed them if possible, but it was too late to replace them,” he commented, noting that the profits from the capsule collection would be donated to the organisation set up in honour of Kobe and his daughter, the Mamba & Mambacita Sport Foundation. “This tragedy affected myself and all the world deeply, and I feel that my fashion show has been the best moment to express my respect and admiration or Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and his family. It is sad to see how something positive and constructive can be misinterpreted by people who obviously want to interpret negatively without even having a reason.”

Shanina Shaik has found love again following her difficult divorce from DJ Ruckus.

The Australian model and the American music star parted ways in June after one year of marriage, with Shaik filing for divorce a month later.

However, Shaik took to Instagram on Thursday morning to upload a Thanksgiving Day post, in which she revealed she is in a new relationship.

“Reflecting on this year… I will admit this was the hardest year of my life. I was dealing with the biggest heartache. So many things I wish I could share with all of you, but I choose to keep my personal stories close to my heart and heal. After dealing with a huge loss in my life, I GAVE UP ON LOVE (broken heart emoji). I didn’t want it or believed that a true love could exist,” the 28-year-old wrote alongside a black-and-white snap of her hand holding her new beau’s. “I was broken… You took me by surprise and made me believe that a BEAUTIFUL love exists! It’s kind, supporting, romantic and friendly. You’re my best friend! Throughout my heartache, you stood by me and I’m thankful for you. Thank you for making me believe in love again. I’m thankful I have you… to call you mine.”

Shaik did not name or tag her boyfriend in the message. However, she indicated his name begins with the letter ‘P’, as she concluded the post with their initials and a red heart emoji.

The brunette beauty’s social media announcement quickly drew the attention of many of her celebrity pals, with Bianca Balti writing, “You guys are so beautiful together,” and Olivia Culpo adding: “Aw I’m so happy for you my love.”

Model Devon Windsor designed two new swimwear pieces to wear during her recent wedding weekend.

The 25-year-old tied the knot with Johnny Barbara, co-owner of fashion label Alexis, at St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church on the Caribbean island of St Barths on 16 November in front of guests including Olivia Culpo, Georgia Fowler, Shanina Shaik, and Cara Santana.

The day before the wedding, the couple hosted a party at a beachside restaurant and Windsor made sure she stood out from the crowd by wearing white pieces she had designed for her swimwear line Devon Windsor Swim, which she launched earlier this year.

“Being a new swimwear designer, I worked closely with my mother-in-law, now-husband, and sister-in-law to design the most intricate hand-embellished pearl and sequin swimsuit that took multiple days of just bead application alone at their atelier,” she explained to Bazaar Bride. “The coverup for my first look also had French macrame lace and French embellished lace trim all framed with pearls to tie in my swimsuit. The second look was an embroidered lace look with high-waisted bottoms that had a detachable skirt flowing down the back and a halter top. Both looks were all white and made me feel so, so special.”

For the ceremony itself, the model turned to Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, who created a sheer, floral lace white gown and a veil with matching lace trim.

“I have always been obsessed with his couture and bridal gowns. His attention to detail is unlike anyone I have ever seen. My first gown was an off the shoulder, long-sleeved lace gown that had a long train,” Devon gushed.

The Victoria’s Secret star later changed into another Murad design – a delicate beaded dress – for the reception.

Devon Windsor is a married woman.

The 25-year-old tied the knot with fiance Johnny Dex Barbara at a church in St. Barths on Saturday, in front of guests including Olivia Culpo, Georgia Fowler, Shanina Shaik, and Cara Santana.

Devon wore a sheer, floral lace white gown by Zuhair Murad, which featured intricate detailing on her torso and chest, a long white veil, and her blonde hair in loose waves.

The newlyweds posed for photos with their guests after the intimate ceremony and smiled at the locals who had gathered outside of the church.

Devon later changed into a white one-piece embellished bathing suit for pictures with her new husband on the beach in St. Barths, before partying with friends and family.

The model posted a snap on Instagram confirming the news, showing her wearing a personalised white bikini that read, “MRS. BARBARA.”

Shanina shared videos from the big day on her Instagram Stories too, with one clip depicting the happy couple just about to cut their wedding cake, with Johnny carrying his new wife.

The Victoria’s Secret Angel later posted videos from the boozy bash, which featured the model doing tequila shots with Sports Illustrated beauty Olivia.

Devon and Johnny spent the days leading up to their picturesque wedding spending time with their loved ones on the Caribbean island, with the bride-to-be also finalising the details of the ceremony.

“So much joy seeing all my friends coming in for my wedding!! Thank you for coming all over the world for this weekend!” she wrote alongside a clip of her walking on the beach.

Devon became engaged to businessman Johnny in June 2018 after two years of dating.

Off-White has unveiled a space-themed collection for spring/summer 2020.

The Milan-based fashion house held a presentation at the Centre Pompidou on Thursday night as part of Paris Fashion Week, however, founder Virgil Abloh was not in attendance, having announced earlier this month that he was taking three months off to focus on his health.

Drawing in celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Olivia Culpo, Tyga, and Halsey, the show, titled Meteor Shower, kicked off with a recording of the voice of Dr. Mae Jemison, who became the first black woman to travel in space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

“The fundamental concept is to illustrate a woman’s power,” explained Abloh in the show notes. “To show that her spirit is indestructible by natural forces. She can withstand a ‘meteor shower’ both metaphorically and physically speaking.”

To open, Adut Akech walked the runway in a white shirtdress with heavy steel earrings. A number of outfits which merged Abloh’s interest in streetwear and sculptural silhouettes followed, with a white dress with parachute-esque skirt proving to be a highlight, as was a parka coat matched with sporty separates.

The designer had fun with the theme too, cutting round holes in tops and trouser legs, with the quirky motifs meant to resemble “craters formed by falling rock,” and also refer to the ‘cheesehead’ hat worn by fans at sports games in Wisconsin, where Abloh attended university.

He also cut holes into an updated version of Off-White’s Jitney handbag, with the design making it nearly impossible to store anything inside.

To end the spectacle, a line-up of models walked the runway in white ensembles topped with utilitarian accessories, while sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid modelled hot pink dresses at the conclusion.

Olivia Culpo has spoken about her ongoing battle with depression, insisting “it’s okay not to be okay”.

The former Miss Universe took to Instagram on Thursday to touch upon a “difficult situation” that has left her mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically drained.

In addition, she posted two selfies – one taken in the last few days, and one snapped earlier this year.

“2nd photo, a few months ago: I was depressed,” the 27-year-old wrote. “I had no appetite, was drinking way too much, smoking, couldn’t sleep, and couldn’t eat. But I was still taking photos on social media and pretending everything was great. I was going through a difficult situation that left me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually bankrupt and it had taken its toll physically. The feeling of despair is a relatable one, so I feel a responsibility to anyone else going through something difficult to say that it’s ok to not be ok.”

Culpo continued: “1st photo is from the other day, and I am looking healthier. I have my appetite back and am treating my body correctly. We’re all too familiar with the ‘highlight REEL’ of Instagram so I wanted to get REAL and tell you it’s not always as amazing as it seems.”

The model also explained that she decided to share the photos in the hope that they will help “others who might be going through a hard time and feeling like they need to ‘have it all together.'”

Fans have speculated that the emotional turmoil may have been following her split from NFL star Danny Amendola last year, after dating him on-and-off since 2016.

Culpo called it quits after the sportsman was spotted getting cosy with sports reporter Bianca Peters in Miami, and the break-up took a bitter turn when Amendola took to Instagram to air his grievances about their relationship, and called the model “f**ked up”.

Olivia Culpo is “humbled” to have topped the Maxim Hot 100 rankings.

The actress/model shot to fame after winning the Miss Universe pageant in 2012 and has since gone on to appear in campaigns for the likes of L’Oreal and Express, as well as star in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Now, Olivia has been named as the sexiest woman of the year by magazine editors, landing her on the cover of the July/August 2019 issue.

“It’s honestly something that I’ve always dreamed of since I was so little. It’s really humbling,” she told the publication of the accolade, with past winners including the likes of Stella Maxwell and Kate Upton. “There are so many women who have been in this same position before that I have looked up to for so many years. I thrive off the success of other women because a win for one of us is, in my opinion, a win for all of us.”

In addition to appearing on the cover, Olivia stars in an accompanying photoshoot.

And the experience was memorable for the brunette beauty, who is now seeking to make a major move into the entertainment industry, and boasts over four million followers on Instagram.

“I hope that they take inspiration from it,” the 27-year-old shared of her largely female online fan base. “That’s why I look to a lot of people on Instagram. I enjoy being able to see what they’re doing and how I can maybe do something similar. If they’re working out a lot, it’s like, ‘Oh, I wanna try that workout.'”

The rest of the Hot 100 list is set to be unveiled later this month.

Olivia Culpo’s skincare expert warned her to cut back on exfoliating after she started getting breakouts.

The model/actress shot to fame after winning the Miss Universe pageant in 2012 and dating Nick Jonas.

Olivia has now shared that she suffers from the same skin issues as anyone else and has altered her nighttime regime accordingly.

“I use Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Enzyme Cleanser, which is my favourite. It really exfoliates the skin through natural fruit enzymes,” she said in an episode of Go To Bed With Me for Harpersbazaar.com. “And Dr. Sturm recommended this for me because I was getting these breakouts, it’s so funny, on one side of my cheek. I told her that I was using all of these products with beads and I was trying to exfoliate every single day and she recommended this product because she noticed I was actually over-exfoliating. So be careful for that!”

Olivia went on to explain that she ensures to remove all of her cosmetics each night by dipping Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes in coconut oil. When necessary, such as after a long flight, she will sometimes use exfoliating peel pads from Sanitas or Dr. Dennis Gross, and is a big fan of using La Mer’s The Renewal Oil when her complexion is dehydrated.

“I find that when I’m breaking out, contrary to popular belief it’s not because my skin is super oily, it’s actually because my skin is really dehydrated,” the 27-year-old said, before demonstrating how she applies a few drops to her face. “So, my pores are acting up and they’re not cooperating with life, airplanes, and lack of sleep.”

In addition, Olivia uses Nurse Jamie’s NuVibe RX Amethyst Massaging Beauty Tool and Skin Design London’s Designer Balm, and encourages fans to try out a body serum such as Mimi Luzon’s Satin Skin Body Serum.

“You put so many serums and peels on our face, we should probably start considering that on our body too. I use this all over my body. I love it because it absorbs so well,” she smiled.

Bella Hadid shared a heartfelt tribute to her sister Gigi as she marked her 24th birthday on Tuesday (23Apr19), calling her sibling her best friend “by blood and by choice”.

The 22-year-old, also a hugely successful model, posted a series of throwback pictures of herself and Gigi on Instagram, alongside a gushing message for the birthday girl.

“Happy birthday to my best friend by blood and by choice. I am so lucky. you are everything good my sweet sister,” she wrote. “Your empathy, love, loyalty and work ethic are some of the reasons you are so beyond loved by so many… Your creativity and energy to always go above and beyond surprises and excites me everyday!!!”

“I am so inspired by you and every single endeavour that you take,” she continued. “I will be by your side for every single one you take in the future!. I am your #1 fan forever and I can’t wait for forever of birthdays with you!!!!! I love you My little ball of sunshine @gigihadid.”

Bella joined her sister at a bash to celebrate her birthday at L’Avenue restaurant in midtown Manhattan on Monday night. The siblings wore co-ordinating denim looks for the party, with Gigi sporting a white crop top along with low-slung jeans and a matching jacket with chunky black boots, while Bella opted for a denim corset top, jeans and a shirt with tan boots.

It appears that denim was actually the theme for the event, with the pair’s mother Yolanda Hadid rocking up in a dark denim three-piece suit and father Mohamed Hadid wearing a brown leather jacket over his jeans and shirt.

Helena Christensen, Martha Hunt, Olivia Culpo and Ashley Graham were among the other famous faces to attend the star-studded bash. Taylor Swift also made an appearance, but shied away from the denim theme and opted to instead wear a floral dress under a red checked jacket.

Shanina Shaik was once told she wouldn’t book high-end fashion jobs because of the colour of her skin.

The Australian beauty moved to New York as a teenager to achieve her ambition of becoming a model, and made her debut at New York Fashion Week in 2009.

Now, the 27-year-old is a runway regular, walking for labels like Jason Wu, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood. But her rise to the top wasn’t easy, and Shanina, who has Pakistani, Lithuanian, and Saudi Arabian heritage, says she’s had to fight to succeed.

“I used to get bullied. I was told that I wasn’t going to be able to model because of the way I look,” she said to The Hollywood Reporter. “I was told that because of the colour of my skin that I would never be able to book high-end fashion jobs.”

Shanina will be shining a light on the topic of racism in fashion on new TV show Model Squad. The E! Series, which premiered on Tuesday (04Sep18), follows Shanina, Devon Windsor, Hannah Ferguson and Olivia Culpo, among other models, as they navigate the industry.

And while the style world is slowly becoming more inclusive, the Victoria’s Secret model says more still needs to be done.

“Sitting back and seeing more diversity on magazine covers and in campaigns, it’s really exciting. I don’t think we’re completely there yet, but we’re doing better,” she stated. “With everyone so mixed and diverse, it’s hard for some people – like myself – to fit into a category. We have made strides and I love to see how a lot of designers and editors have championed models of colour in the past few years, but there could definitely be even more representation and inclusiveness.”
