Gary Oldman and Armie Hammer are to headline opioids thriller Dreamland.

The Hollywood stars have signed on to star in director Nicholas Jarecki’s latest project, according to Deadline, with the shoot already underway in Detroit and Montreal.

Few details about the plot of Dreamland have been made available, though the story is believed to focus on three narrative threads involving a drug trafficker smuggling opioids between the U.S. and Canada, an architect recovering from an OxyContin addiction, as well as a university professor investigating links between the drug company he is employed by and the government.

It is unclear what roles Oldman and Hammer will take on in the film. Ant-Man and the Wasp star Evangeline Lilly and German actress Veronica Ferres will also have key parts.

“The devastating impact of the opioid crisis reaches all corners of society,” said Jarecki in a statement. “Gary, Armie, and Evangeline are the perfect performers to bring the human face of this epidemic to audiences everywhere.”

Jarecki will direct from his own script. The project is his largest since his 2010 drama-thriller Arbitrage, which saw lead actor Richard Gere receive a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. The filmmaker has also written and directed 2009 short The Weight and 2005 documentary The Outsider.

Meanwhile, Oldman is currently working on a string of films, including The Woman in the Window, The Laundromat, and Killers Anonymous. He won the 2018 Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Actor for his work as Winston Churchill in 2017 war drama Darkest Hour.

Hammer has a number of projects lined-up too, and was most recently appeared in Hotel Mumbai and in On the Basis of Sex. He is attached to appear as Simon Doyle in Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Death on the Nile, also starring Gal Gadot and Jodie Comer.

A release date for Dreamland has not yet been announced.

Armie Hammer wowed by Felicity Jones’ On the Basis of Sex monologue

Armie Hammer was wowed by the way Felicity Jones delivered a key speech in On the Basis of Sex.

The British actress portrays a young version of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the biographical drama, while the Call Me by Your Name star plays her husband Martin Ginsburg.

In one part of the plot, Felicity gives a rousing monologue about the bias and discrimination she faced as a woman in the legal industry, and Armie was impressed by his co-star’s determination.

“She went through the whole thing about 600 times. I mean, it was incredible,” he said in a video interview with Collider.com. “It is the longest monologue that a woman has ever given in film, which is amazing, and also Felicity knocked it out of the park. She didn’t stumble once while we were filming that. I don’t know how many times she did it, it was in the hundreds, and she never once messed up a word. Never once had to start over.”

In addition to Ruth’s legal work, On the Basis of Sex also explores her marriage and home life. And Armie was thrilled to take on the role of the supportive husband, as taxation law expert Martin was such a good example of how a man can have a successful career and be a caring partner.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen an onscreen relationship like this. Not only is their relationship underrepresented in film but characters like Marty Ginsburg are underrepresented in film,” the 32-year-old commented.

“You don’t see a lot of supportive husbands who understand the quality and the capacity of their wife and know that if they’re just there to support them, which doesn’t make them weaker – if anything, it makes them a better man and a better human and a better father and a better husband – that if they support their wife, their wife can change the world.”

Kesha shows off her freckles in barefaced selfie

Kesha has vowed to “love myself” after posting a make-up-free selfie displaying her rarely seen freckles.

The Tik Tok singer posted a close-up picture to Instagram revealing her stunning barefaced complexion on Tuesday (15Jan19) and told her followers that she planned to embrace herself, flaws and all, in 2019.

“This year my resolution is to love myself,” she captioned the post. “Just as I am, all f**ked up and imperfect and whatever else. And to let my freckles liiiiiiiive (sic).”

Comedian and pal Amy Schumer commented: “You are so gorgeous!”

Her candid post prompted her fans to post their own make-up-free selfies, with one writing: “Girl I love your freckles I so wish I was younger When you debuted cause I’ve spent years getting rid of mine cause I was bullied for them! Now I miss my freckles.”

While another added: “Freckles are literally so pretty, I love mine and even when I hated the way I looked the one thing I liked about my body were my freckles. Lucky I learned to love myself and my body.”

Her self-affirming post showed the 31-year-old singer has made a positive start to the year despite her ongoing legal battle with her former mentor Dr. Luke.

The singer has been locked in a bitter legal battle with the music producer since 2014, when she attempted to sue him for the reported sexual, physical, and emotional abuse she allegedly endured during the 10 years they worked together at the start of her career.

Luke vehemently dismissed her accusations and subsequently countersued Kesha for defamation.

Kesha is gearing up to set sail on her inaugural Weird & Wonderful Rainbow Ride, a four-day cruise from Tampa, Florida, with a stopover in Nassau, Bahamas, in February, while her empowering anthem Here Comes the Change appears in new film, On the Basis of Sex, the biopic about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Replicas of the dress Felicity Jones wears in On the Basis of Sex are now available to buy.

The British actress is currently starring in the biographical legal drama, which is based on the life and early cases of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In one scene, Felicity sports a vintage brown patterned wrap dress from Diane von Furstenberg, with a representative for the U.S. label announcing on Wednesday (26Dec18) that copies of the garment have been released online and in some boutiques.

“Talk about being strong and impactful! Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a woman #INCHARGE!” they wrote on Instagram alongside a still image of Felicity in the dress. “In celebration of the cinematic release of @onthebasisofsex, we’re happy to reissue the classic print featured on a wrap dress worn in the film.”

Known as the New Jeanne Two Silk Jersey Wrap Dress, the item is made of 100 per cent silk jersey and features a collar, V-neck, and a band along the neckline that travels down to the hem.

The dress is priced at $498 (£393), while DVF is also offering a Terria Silk Jersey Wrap Jumpsuit in the same fabric, costing $648 (£512).

Additionally, fans can also purchase a matching scrunchie for $38 (£30).

“Pull your hair up. This scrunchie is great for long days at the office or the days when your hair just simply can’t be tamed,” the DVF website description reads.

Belgium-born fashion designer Furstenberg redefined womenswear with the launch of her iconic wrap dress in 1974, with the figure-hugging style continuing to be a best-seller ever since.

While the scene depicted in On the Basis of Sex would have actually taken place around two years earlier, costume designer Isis Mussenden recently told Fashionista.com that she was determined to include the piece in the movie.

“You know what a strong dress it was,” she explained of the wrap dress. “You know how strong Diane von Furstenberg is – as a person, as a philanthropist, as an activist. It felt so right that I just went, ‘Nope, I’m using it!’ Even if the time was off.”

Felicity Jones paid tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a special lipstick while celebrating her portrayal of the U.S. Supreme Court Justice onscreen.

The actress stars as the iconic U.S. activist in new biopic On the Basis of Sex, and while attending the red carpet premiere of the film in New York on Sunday (16Dec18), she wore the stunning lip colour designed to honour Ginsberg and help raise money for a cause she is passionate about.

Proceeds from the Cle de Peau Beaute-branded Lipstick Cashmere in Legend will go towards the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), an organisation that works to preserve the rights of citizens by enforcing the constitution. It will directly benefit the Women’s Rights Project, which Ginsburg started in 1972. Donations will be made until 1 March (19).

The crimson shade comes with a long-wearing cashmere formula with a soft radiant finish and argan oil for added hydration. The blue-red tone is similar to the colour Jones wears in the movie.

An ambassador for Cle de Peau Beaute, Jones incorporated the lipstick into her overall look for the weekend premiere with the help of makeup artist Romy Soleimani.

Soleimani tells Us Weekly she complimented the bold lip choice with the brand’s Radiant Fluid Foundation and Cream Blush in rose and coral, and to accent the brunette beauty’s eyes, she used Perfect Lash Mascara and shades from the Eye Color Quad.

Earlier this month (Dec18), Jones noted how important her physical transformation was in perfecting her portrayal of Bader Ginsburg.

“Hair and makeup was a huge part of the transformation process and helped me to get into the headspace of the character,” she said. “I found that the physical changes in hairstyles throughout Justice Ginsburg’s early years were an integral piece in bringing her to life and inhabiting her spirit.”

On the Basis of Sex hits U.S. theatres on Christmas Day (25Dec18).

Armie Hammer got into character cooking on set of On the Basis of Sex

Actor Armie Hammer brushed up on his skills in the kitchen to perfect his movie portrayal as the husband of U.S. Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The Social Network star was cast as Martin D. Ginsburg, opposite Felicity Jones as the pioneering justice, in new biopic On the Basis of Sex, and one thing Armie made sure to master was the late tax law expert’s culinary skills, as he could frequently be found in the kitchen, whipping up his family’s meals.

Armie had a great point of reference to help in his preparation – Martin’s handwritten recipe book – so he recreated one dish for his co-stars.

“His recipes were written very much in his voice, so they were funny, they were witty, they were exact, and they were very detail-oriented,” Hammer told Variety.

“The care that he took with his cooking also replicated the care that he took with his legal practice – and, in terms of his family, how good of a parent and a husband he wanted to be.”

However, Armie insists that while he picked up a few new cooking skills, he is far from a true chef in the kitchen.

“I would like to think so (that he is as good a cook as Martin),” he shared, “but I can tell you conclusively, no, I am not!”

Despite his remarks, the actor did win the praise of Bader Ginsburg herself, who spoke to the audience following the film’s premiere in her native New York on Sunday (16Dec18).

“Did you notice the scene in which he is in the kitchen chopping vegetables?” the justice asked the crowd. “That was very, very reminiscent of Marty.”

Bader Ginsburg was also a big fan of Felicity’s performance – because the Brit was able to nail her Brooklyn accent.

“The most remarkable thing is to hear Felicity Jones, who speaks the Queen’s English, sound very much like she was born and bred in Brooklyn,” she smiled.

Jones recently revealed that getting her twang just right was Bader Ginsburg’s only concern about the movie: “It was really helpful just listening to all these recordings of her in court and going through those, and (I) became obsessed with Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s vowel sounds and listening to that great Brooklyn sound that she has,” Felicity said on U.S. talk show The View. “It’s wonderful to play.”

On the Basis of Sex, directed by Mimi Leder, also stars Justin Theroux, Sam Waterston, and Kathy Bates, and opens in U.S. theatres next week (25Dec18).

Felicity Jones spent many hours studying Ruth Bader Ginsburg for new biopic On the Basis of Sex.

The British actress portrays the U.S. Supreme Court Justice in the upcoming film, which follows her struggles to break into the legal field and the sexism she faced upon launching her career.

Directed by Mimi Leder, the movie required Jones to invest a lot of time analysing Ginsburg’s features, gestures and personality, and the star is pleased with the final result.

“It’s a huge responsibility playing a living person. You have to take it enormously seriously,” she told S Magazine. “I delved into as much footage of her as I could watch – understanding her physicality, the way she moved, the way she looks. I worked very closely with the make-up and hair departments to do as much as possible to make myself look like Ruth.”

In order to transform into Ginsburg, Jones had to wear grey contact lenses and even had her teeth capped to alter the way she speaks.

Yet, it was capturing the judge’s sense of humour that proved to be the most challenging aspect.

“Her humour and her commitment to her beliefs. I feel like she’s someone who never wavered from that, and has been quite singular in many ways. And I think in times where we don’t have that many public figures we can look up to, Ruth is very unique in that way,” the 35-year-old commented.

On the Basis of Sex, which also stars Armie Hammer, Justin Theroux and Kathy Bates, is due to hit cinemas in the U.S. on 25 December (18).

And Jones can’t imagine a better time for the project to be released, especially regarding the turbulent time in American politics at the moment and U.S. President Donald Trump’s divisive decision to appoint Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“It was incredible when we were shooting the film; it was chiming with everything that was happening in the #MeToo movement,” she added.

Lily James and Armie Hammer are to star in a new adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca.

The Hollywood stars will take on lead roles in the project, which has been greenlit by executives at Netflix and Working Title, producers announced on Wednesday (14Nov18).

British director Ben Wheatley, known for his work on Kill List and High-Rise, will helm the movie, while X-Men and Kingsman franchise writer Jane Goldman is penning the script.

Based on the novel, first released in 1938, the story will tell of a newly-married young woman who, on arriving at her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, finds herself battling the shadow of his dead first wife, the mysterious Rebecca, whose legacy continues to haunt the house. Working Title’s Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, and Nira Park will produce the film. Further casting details or a potential release date have not yet been announced.

Among the other projects currently being made by executives at Working Title include Josie Rourke’s Mary Queen of Scots, starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie, Joe Cornish’s The Kid Who Would Be King, featuring Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson, as well as Tom Hooper’s film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats, starring Ian McKellen, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, and Taylor Swift.

Baby Driver actress Lily has most recently been seen onscreen in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Darkest Hour. The 29-year-old will next appear in an untitled film being made by Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis.

Meanwhile, Call Me By Your Name star Armie, 32, has been on the road promoting Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You and Anthony Maras’ Hotel Mumbai. He will next be seen on the silver screen as Marty Ginsburg, the husband of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in biographical drama On the Basis of Sex.

Rebecca was previously adapted for the big screen by Alfred Hitchcock in 1940, with the black and white film starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine.

Felicity Jones will be honoured with the Variety Award at the 2018 British Independent Film Awards.

The English actress is gearing up for the release of biographical drama On the Basis of Sex, where she plays U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and before it hits screens in late December (18), Felicity will receive the Variety Award at a ceremony in London on 2 December.

“It’s an incredible honour to receive this Award and, in doing so, to join such an illustrious and inspiring group of filmmakers and actors,” the 35-year-old said in a statement. “To support the British film industry on the global stage is a huge privilege and something I feel very proud and lucky to be a part of.”

Since her star-making role in 2014’s The Theory of Everything, for which she was nominated for an Oscar, Felicity has landed parts in blockbusters like Inferno and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Praising the 2018 recipient of the Variety Award, Steven Gaydos, Variety’s vice president and executive editor, stated: “When actress Felicity Jones first appeared on your radar, you probably knew she was destined for greatness but you probably didn’t know she would impact so forcefully on all sizes of screens in all kinds of projects.

“She has infused the Star Wars juggernaut with feminine soul as well as womanly grit and she brought gravity and tenderness to the Oscar-winning Theory of Everything. Now she plays a brave woman whose life and achievements loom larger every day.”

Previous winners include Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Winslet and Gary Oldman.

Actress Felicity Jones found her signature hair and makeup style just as her life in the spotlight began.

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story beauty’s career took off after roles in Like Crazy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and The Theory of Everything and Felicity notes she found her perfect look while on the cusp of fame.

Jones met hairstylist Cervando Maldonado and makeup artist Katey Denno when they teamed up to prepare her for the Golden Globe Awards in 2012.

“My love of the eyeliner flick (a look achieved by using eyeliner on the outer corners of the eyes) and bangs was born,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Her status as one of Hollywood’s most stylish star’s earned her a contract with Shiseido-owned beauty brand Cle de Peau last January (18), and Denno notes the 35 year old and the company are a perfect fit.

“The brand’s liquid black eyeliner is Felicity’s go-to. It gives the perfect flick,” Denno tells the publication.

Meanwhile, Maldonado, who has also worked with Naomi Watts and Kirsten Dunst, offered Jones insights on the best way to style her hair.

“I do my own little backcombing in my everyday life,” Jones shares, noting he also encouraged the Brit to use single fake eyelashes.

“They are much easier than putting on a whole lash strip,” she adds.

Yet, as the U.K. native gears up to promote her biopic On the Basis of Sex, in which she portrays U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, she is looking to adopt a simpler look.

“We’re moving away from crazy intense lashes and contouring,” Denno says. “The looks (this season) are going to be more au naturel.”
