The dress Constance Wu wore to the Crazy Rich Asians premiere took approximately 765 hours to make.

Designed by Ralph and Russo, the actress wore a shimmery silver Bardot gown to the Los Angeles event on Tuesday (07Aug18), which was decorated with striking white tassels that fell over her arms and hips.

Following the bash, Constance, who plays Rachel Chu in the upcoming romantic comedy, took to Twitter to share just how much effort went into her outfit.

“For the @CrazyRichMovie premiere I got to wear a beautiful @ralphandrusso couture gown, 490 Hours of Embroidery, 90 Carats of Diamonds and I arrived in a @rollsroycecars Ghost. Not bad for a little ol’ theatre kid from RVA (Richmond, Virginia)!! #CrazyRichAsians,” she wrote.

According to Harper’s Bazaar U.K., the dress required another 275 hours to complete once the 200,000 crystals and 90 carats of diamonds were embroidered.

The outfit was selected by stylist Micaela Erlanger, who explained that this specific gown was chosen for very particular reasons.

“In history, tassels have almost always been a symbol of power and prestige, not to mention they make for a glamorous detail,” she told Vogue U.S. “This movie is so important for so many reasons, and I felt that Constance should look both powerful and glamorous.”

The 36-year-old’s co-stars looked equally glamorous on the night, with Ocean’s 8 star Awkwafina sporting a ladylike satin pink Reem Acra gown featuring long sleeves and a full skirt, while Constance Lau opted to wear a dress made by Singaporean brand Time Taken to Make a Dress. The intricate outfit featured fringing, embroidery and cut-out detailing as the colour gradually changed from angelic white to a deep red in an ombre-style skirt.

And like Constance, British actress Gemma Chan went for full-on sparkle in a dazzling gold and silver sequin number designed by Oscar de la Renta.

Emily DiDonato has insisted she makes a lot of effort in order to prepare for Sports Illustrated shoots.

The American model was formerly the face of Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gioia fragrance, and the rising talent has also starred in campaigns for top brands including Miu Miu, Oscar de la Renta and Longchamp, while making a name for herself on the runway as well.

But in spite of her relationship with Sports Illustrated, for which she has posed for several times since her 2013 debut in the magazine’s Swimsuit Issue, she is adamant that the honour takes a lot of hard work.

“To be totally transparent, I’m not in perfect swimsuit shape all the time,” she admitted in an interview with Fashion Week Daily. “The truth is, it takes effort, thought, and planning to be ready for something like Sports Illustrated. Staying like that all year round would be ideal, but it doesn’t happen! I’m human; I go up and down. But if I have a big shoot coming up, I’m really regimented.”

The 27-year-old makes time for a morning workout and tends to prepare and bring her own healthy meals to set. Emily is also a qualified nutritionist which means she knows the best food to fuel her body.

“I lean toward a Paleo diet: I’m not super strict, but typically, I have chicken or fish, and some sweet potato and grains,” she explained. “For carbs, I stick to things like sweet potatoes and squash. I don’t really do grains, rice, or bread. I also drink wine here and there.”

Emily also spoke about her new husband Kyle Peterson, whom she married on June 23 (18) in Beaver Creek, Colorado after four years of dating.

“We got married in Beaver Creek, because my husband and I met on a flight to Colorado, and we ski there every year,” she smiled.

Anna Wintour and Vera Wang’s friendship is about more than fashion

Anna Wintour is a close confidant of Vera Wang, with the pair often discussing a lot more than just fashion.

In 2013, the two style stars teamed up to establish the New York-Presbyterian Youth Anxiety Center, in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Tamara Mellon, Ralph Lauren and the late Oscar de la Renta were among the founding committee members, and on Monday night (18Jun18), numerous names from the fashion world attended a benefit to raise awareness about youth anxiety.

“I’ve confided in Anna for years – not about fashion, necessarily, but about being mothers,” Wang said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s no handbook for raising children, and more than ever, kids are thrown into this competitive world, a desire for marks, a desire to get into a good college. It’s challenging when kids get lost.”

While U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Wintour expressed a similar sentiment.

“Vera and I both have children the same age, and once they become teenagers and go off to college, it can be such a difficult age – they look grown up and are meant to act grown up, but they’re not,” she added. “We heard a lot of stories about kids going off to college and not being able to cope because they lost their support structure, as well as how much stigma remains around mental health. We wanted to make it a much more open discussion and help this particular age group.”

Michael Kors, a longtime supporter of the Youth Anxiety Center, his husband Lance LePere, designer Zac Posen and Wintour’s daughter Bee Shaffer were also in attendance at the event, held at New York’s Cafe Clover.

And Tony-nominated actor Joshua Henry provided the entertainment.

“All of us have to find a way to deal with a life that is too hectic, too plugged in, a world that’s upside-down and dispensing constant information,” Kors said. “For my husband and I, we escape to the theatre, a place where the phone has to be turned off, and we can be transported to another world.”

Emily DiDonato is the new face of luxury skincare brand Biotherm.

The American model was previously the face of Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gioia fragrance, and the rising talent has also starred in campaigns for top brands including Miu Miu, Oscar de la Renta and Longchamp, while making a name for herself on the runway as well.

Emily will now feature in advertisements for the L’Oreal-owned organisation, based on Biotherm’s focus on its patented Life Plankton ingredient.

“I’ve always loved the naturality of Biotherm products,” the 27-year old said in a statement, adding that the new products have proved especially useful in the lead up to her nuptials to fiance Kyle Peterson. “Right now, as I’m putting my skin through the added stress of organising my summer wedding, Biotherm couldn’t have called at a better time.”

Emily’s first campaign will go live in June (18), which will be preceded by an Instagram campaign outlining her five favourite products.

She will join fashion stars Candice Swanepoel and Christy Turlington-Burns, who both currently represent Biotherm, while Emily previously appeared in a Maybelline commercial alongside the latter.

“Smart, she’s not only an influential opinion-shaper in the field of skincare, but also in healthy living,” said Biotherm general manager David Fridlevski. “With her engagement with her community, she’s an absolutely natural choice for Biotherm.”

The Sports Illustrated star certainly takes her health seriously and is even a certified yoga instructor, according to her profile on IMG Models.

“I go to the gym five times a week and love spinning and Pilates. I also watch out what I eat: I only eat healthy stuff like fruits, vegetables and fish,” she previously told German magazine In.

Olivia Munn has a secret trick for beating winter bugs – regular shots of apple cider vinegar.

The X-Men: Apocalypse star missed the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month (Jan18) because she was battling a nasty flu, but she was back on top form to host the Critics’ Choice Awards days later, and she was among the presenters at Sunday’s (21Jan18) Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

On the red carpet she told E! News she has a new health regime, which also helps her stay slim.

“I started doing (apple cider vinegar) in the morning and the night because they say it’s supposed to help you slim down,” she shared.

The widely-touted supplement also reportedly helps fight infections, improve the condition of hair, skin and nails, aid digestion and boost energy levels.

“I eat Rocky Road (ice cream) late at night and I think if I take an apple cider vinegar shot, it (balances me out). It doesn’t,” she laughed.

“I tell myself, ‘It’s fine. I’m an actress. I’m not a model,’” she added. “I’m supposed to look more relatable.”

The 37-year-old won top marks head-to-toe on Sunday, and confessed to Vogue that she had bought her stunning sequined silver and black dress online.

“I was looking through the (designer) collections and found a few dresses, one of them being this beautiful Oscar de la Renta, (and) it just so happened to be available on (fashion website) Farfetch,” she revealed.

And she loves the fact that fans who want to emulate her slinky look can easily do so.

“I think it is pretty amazing and modern that people who watch me on the air and see pictures can buy this gorgeous dress the very same day,” she added.
