Dua Lipa has been forced to get a fringe because her frequent bleaching has damaged her hair.
The Physical hitmaker debuted her new look in a series of photos and videos on her Instagram Stories and revealed that her cropped blonde fringe wasn’t her choice.
“PSA (public service announcement): This is not a haircut, it’s bleached breakages but I’m running with it,” the 24-year-old explained, noting that she had bleached her hair so much, it started to break off.
Dua was later spotted out and about in New York City, hiding her bangs from paparazzi, and posted snaps from the incident on Instagram, showing her putting her quilted Chanel bag in front of her face as she crossed the street.
“Please don’t talk to me while mercury is in retrograde,” she jokingly captioned the snaps.
The New Rules singer, who has rocked her two-tone blonde and black hairstyle since October last year, also teased her new album as she debuted her new look. “A new era! Thank you for your patience. See you soon #DL2,” Dua wrote at the time.
Her hairstylist Nicola Clarke was the mastermind behind the unique hair colour, and told W magazine last year that it is “a trend that can be made as extreme or subtle as you want and still have impact.”
The Grammy-winning singer is currently gearing up for the release of her new album Future Nostalgia, which drops 3 April, and the star will kick off her European tour on 26 April in Madrid, Spain.

Actress Jane Seymour is revisiting the outrageous workout trends that were popular in the 1980s.
The star was eager to embrace the bold colours and wild hair of the decade for her role in new TV comedy series Let’s Get Physical. Working on the show, which centres around the crazy rivalry between two fitness gurus, reminded her of the looks she sported back then.
“I used to do aerobics back in the day,” she tells People magazine. “I frizzed out my hair, had the headband, the leotard that came right up to your waist, the belts.”
The 66-year-old drew on specific elements of her past style choices for the character and shocked co-stars by showing them photos of herself from the 80s.
“I showed them photography I did back in the day with a big mane of frizzy hair,” she shares. “They literally freaked out. It couldn’t be more authentic if it tried.”
The show’s title is inspired by Olivia Newton-John’s 1981 hit Physical, a song that helped Seymour create a more personal connection to the role.
“Olivia Newton-John happens to be one of my closest friends,” she shares, noting the Grease singer has enjoyed watching the comedy.
“She loves it,” Seymour gushes. “She thinks it’s hilarious.”
The project has led Seymour to look back at how her own exercise routine has evolved over the years.
“I was one of the first to do Pilates back in the day,” she reveals. “My Pilates class would be Joan Collins, Natalie Wood and all the Charlie’s Angels.”
The brunette beauty is also hoping to coordinate some of her other favourite exercise outlets into Let’s Get Physical.
“I’m an ex-dancer,” Seymour explains. “So hopefully they’ll let me do more in the future.”
