Lady Gaga hopes her “against the grain” looks encourage fans to embrace their uniqueness rather than aim for physical perfection.

The Bad Romance singer is known for wearing wacky, experimental outfits that grab headlines. Accordingly, Gaga has now opened up about how she is optimistic that her chameleon approach to style encourages her followers to find out what works for them rather than aspiring to fit into conventional beauty standards.

“Even though I might wear skimpy outfits sometimes and I’m sitting here with no pants on with my big shoes, my definition of beauty has always been very against the grain,” she said during an interview for Australia’s The Sunday Project. “I just dressed like how I felt like dressing today, how I wanted to do my hair, how I wanted my make-up to look.

“But I would never want to send a message to anyone, especially a young person, that you have to be perfect in any type of physical way in order to be a beautiful person.”

The 34-year-old went on to insist that her looks weren’t responsible for her successful career.

“I didn’t get here because I’m pretty. I’m not a supermodel. I make music and it’s my brain and my heart that got me here and a lot of hard work,” Gaga stated.

The Poker Face hitmaker then appeared to reference her boyfriend Michael Polansky, who she described as a “straight male who thinks highly of me”, and recalled how he praised her for always being authentically herself.

“It really meant a lot to me because I felt like I was really seen as a person, and it was really nice that I felt like I wasn’t being objectified by a man,” she added.

Gaga, who is currently promoting her new album Chromatica, went Instagram official with the business entrepreneur earlier this year.

Lady Gaga has dyed her hair bubblegum pink.

The Poker Face singer is quite the style chameleon and has experimented with a variety of hair styles and colours of the course of her career.

Over the weekend, she revealed to fans that she was rocking a pink look by sharing a snap on Instagram to mark the success of the soundtrack to 2018 movie A Star Is Born, in which she starred alongside Bradley Cooper.

“A year ago, A Star was Born, and here we are 6 times pink platinum,” she wrote in the caption of the image, which showed her matching her pink hair with a pink and black houndstooth-print sleeveless dress and matching gloves. She also wore chunky black biker boots and sparkly jewellery as she stood in front of a bookcase filled with Grammy Awards.

She later shared a second picture to explain what make-up products from her Haus Laboratories beauty line she was wearing.

“@sarahtannomakeup used @hauslabs Glam Attack in ‘Rose B**ch’ & ‘Aphrodite’ all over the lid and ‘Chained Ballerina’ for an easy smoky eye. Defined the lash line with Eye-LIE-Ner in ‘Punk’! (Lips) are RIP Lip Liner in ‘Ride’ and Le Riot Lip Gloss in ‘Entranced’.”

The singer/actress is a natural brunette but is traditionally seen with platinum blonde hair. However, she often experiments with colour and has previously been seen rocking shades such as lilac, blue, and silver.

She’s also worked with pink before, having adding pink highlights to her blonde hair for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and rose gold highlights at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

Lady Gaga’s Haus of Gaga store will officially open at the Park MGM in Las Vegas on 30 May.

The Poker Face singer, who is gearing up to return to Sin City for her ongoing Enigma residency, took to Twitter on Thursday to announce the news, posting the black and white Haus of Gaga logo, with a pink neon sign that read ‘Las Vegas’.

It is not yet clear what will be sold at the Haus of Gaga boutique, but sources tell the Las Vegas Review-Journal it will be stocked with Gaga-branded products.

And the A Star Is Born actress is also hoping to staff the shop with fans, known as Little Monsters. According to the MGM Resorts International career website, the retail store is hiring part-time and full-time sales associates.

“Become one of the stars behind the show and become part of the world’s most powerful entertainment brands,” the employment listing reads. “Our company has one exciting mission: To entertain the human race.”

Gaga, 33, first set up Haus of Gaga in 2008, with the concept originally modelled on Andy Warhol’s Factory and consisting of her creative team. Current members of her crew include her fashion director Brandon Maxwell, hairstylist Frederic Aspiras and make-up artist Sarah Tanno.

Previously, Aspiras opened up to Entertainment Tonight about his work with the Haus of Gaga, and explained that he always wants the superstar to feel “special, beautiful and confident”.

“I’m so grateful to have had shared this journey thus far (with Gaga),” he commented. “But today, we celebrate the achievement of someone who believes in her art and empowers me to work beyond the lines. I find that to be the most rewarding part of the relationship that I have with Gaga.”

Gaga’s next Las Vegas show will take place on 30 May, with the current run of Enigma continuing until 8 November.

Lady Gaga was full of emotion as she took on a performance scene for new movie musical A Star Is Born because she had just been with her dead friend.

The Poker Face star had to halt filming when she heard her pal, Sonja Durham, was losing her cancer battle – and she dashed from the set to be with her and her husband.

“We were supposed to shoot in, like, 30 minutes, and I left the set because her husband called me and I could hear her in the background and I just got in the car and drove,” the singer tells Entertainment Weekly. “I missed her by 15 minutes and she died.

“I literally laid with her, with her husband, and their dog, and his son…”

Hours later, Gaga was back on set to complete the performance scene.

“When I came back, (director and co-star) Bradley (Cooper) was so gentle with me and we got through it,” she adds. “I performed the song. He was like, ‘You don’t have to do it again. It’s OK’. All I ever wanted to do was sing. I’ll never forget that day. It was really a special scene, and I’ll always remember that moment.”

Gaga publicly honoured Durham on her birthday in October (17) by dressing up and dancing in an Instagram video.

“After rollin around on the couch feeling sad with the help of some of my #grigiogirls and a very special someone I managed to dress up and feel better in a beautiful pink sequined dress generously gifted to me from@oscardelarenta,” the pop star wrote.

“Sonja would want us to celebrate her Birthday. So we are. Dressed in Pink and handing out pink chocolate kisses for #breastcancerawareness.”

She also posted a photo of a black pearl necklace around her neck and added: “I wear some of @sonjad7777 Sonja’s ashes around my neck in a black pearl given to me by her husband & widower… My extended family @angiepontani, mother of my godchild Sissy and wife of @briannewmanny my buddy I’ve played jazz with in NY (New York) for over ten years told us she had a dream. That we could talk to Sonja through her pearls… And I will Sonja. I Will. Happy Birthday. I love you.”

Gaga also shared a video of herself and Durham together as she played the 2016 track Grigio Girls, which was inspired by her late friend.
