Oscar de la Renta has tapped into its Latin American roots for spring/summer 2020.

The luxury fashion house, which is helmed by co-creative directors Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, unveiled their latest collection at the Cunard Building as part of New York Fashion Week on Tuesday night, with celebrities including Lucy Hale, Karolina Kurkova, and Priyanka Chopra all perched on the front row.

In the show notes, the designers explained that they were inspired by late brand founder de la Renta’s Dominican heritage, as well as Garcia’s childhood, as he grew up in the same nation, as well as in northern Spain.

With a backdrop featuring colourful arched walls, potted palm trees, and baskets filled with fruit, the presentation opened with a model walking the white runway in a draped pink and peach dress matched with a pale pink blazer, with the ensemble topped off with strappy white stilettos.

A series of dresses made of floaty fabrics in yellow and floral print followed, with Garcia and Kim also introducing knitted tops and pleated skirts, kaftan-style dresses, striped asymmetrical gowns with frayed edging, as well as strapless gowns with woven patterning.

Featuring a palette of sunset hues, including lemon yellows, orange, and blush pink, the line was interspersed with touches of sky blue, olive green, and coral.

The show wrapped up with a parade of models showing off glamorous evening gowns made of taffeta or tiered tulle, with Candice Swanepoel rocking a strapless nude number with a corset-like bodice, and Irina Shayk closing the spectacle in a gorgeous black gown with halterneck and high-low skirt.

New York Fashion Week continues on Wednesday with shows from Michael Kors and Dennis Basso.

Christian Louboutin thanked his “partner in crime” Diane von Furstenberg for her unwavering support as he accepted a top fashion honour from the Couture Council on Wednesday.

The 56-year-old Frenchman was given the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion, which recognises his contributions to the fashion industry, in a ceremony at the Lincoln Center in New York.

In his emotional speech, Louboutin reflected on his career and thanked his longtime friend for her efforts in kickstarting his now-iconic footwear brand.

“She’s my godmother, she’s my sister, she’s my travel companion, she’s my oracle, she’s my partner in every crime,” he shared. “She has always been a radiant of support, emotionally and professionally.”

He recalled how he had even sold his first pair of shoes in America from Furstenberg’s office as he started out in fashion, and wanted to share the prestigious award with his friend of more than thirty years.

“I owe her so much, but more than that, I love her so much,” Louboutin gushed. “To me, this award is also a celebration of love and friendship, so I would like to share this award with her, my oldest friend, Diane von Furstenberg.”

The designer was introduced to the stage by his friend, actress Priyanka Chopra, who wore a pair of white Louboutin slingback shoes in honour of the Frenchman.

“These iconic shoes that women around the world have worn make… each one of us real women, everyday woman when we wear these shoes, when we own our first pair, we achieve such a sense of achievement, a sense of pride,” Chopra said. “It gives you the little extra oomph that you need.”

During his speech, Louboutin recalled how he first met the Quantico actress at a film festival in Morocco before she met her now-husband Nick Jonas, and the duo later met up in India, “where they got to share lots of great nights and dirty stories”.

Priyanka Chopra has urged Hollywood stars to embrace their flaws.

The Baywatch actress made an appearance at the Beautycon event in Los Angeles over the weekend, and in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, spoke about the pressures of being a woman working in the entertainment industry.

Reflecting on the current standards of beauty, Priyanka called for more “balance”.

“I think the standard of beauty is something that has been created by us… and I think calling that out in the first place and saying that, ‘Yeah, there are days where you can look perfect with the perfect hair and make-up and perfect wardrobe, but there will be days where you don’t,’ that’s fine too,” she mused. “Especially with women. We fluctuate all the time. We have good hair days. Good skin days and the other way around. And it’s OK to own that.”

Priyanka went on to explain that she views opening up the conversation around beauty to be a positive step, though insisted she’d like to see diverse standards become normalised in the near future.

“The fact that we’re having conversations about it is a step forward than where it always has been. (But) beauty as diversity should not be a conversation. It should be normal,” the 37-year-old commented, before encouraging fans to be their authentic selves. “No matter what you look like, there is a beauty there and it’s the loss of someone else if they can’t see it.”

Priyanka Chopra only began to accept the changes in her body shape when she entered her early thirties.

The Bollywood icon and former Miss World may be one of the most beautiful women in the world, however, in a new interview for the August 2019 issue of U.S. Elle magazine, Priyanka confessed she has only recently begun to be at ease with the way she looks.

“It started happening to me in my early thirties; I got weirdly comfortable. I was like, ‘This is me – take it or leave it.’ I really wish I could’ve told my younger self, ‘Don’t be worried about your flaws,'” she commented.

And while Priyanka wants to look her best at every opportunity, but that doesn’t mean she thinks she can magically make herself look 15 years younger.

“I won’t deny, I care about the vanity. I’m in the business and I want to look the best that I can, but that’s the key term: the best that I can. I’m not 21; I’m not going to try and look it! My body is changing, my body looks different,” the 36-year-old smiled.

Since winning Miss World in 2000, Priyanka has gone on to become one of Bollywood’s highest-paid figures and was the first Indian actress in TV history to lead a U.S. prime time network show – ABC’s thriller Quantico. She is also teaming with friend and fellow actress Mindy Kaling on an as-yet-untitled wedding comedy project.

But in spite of her hectic schedule, workaholic Priyanka is now working on how to balance her life.

“My head was completely in the game… For almost 15 years of my life, that was it,” she said.

It was after meeting husband Nick Jonas, and being welcomed into the Jonas family by her sisters-in-law – Danielle Jonas, who is married to Kevin, and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, who recently wed Joe – that prompted the brunette beauty to alter her work/life balance.

“I’ve never had a sister, so it’s really nice to have Danielle and Sophie… Sophie is super talented, super funny and we have the most fun when we go out together. She’s incredible,” the Isn’t It Romantic star gushed.

Marchesa co-founder Keren Craig is leaving the luxury fashion house.

The designer, who co-founded the company with Georgina Chapman in 2004, announced her resignation via a statement released by her representative on Tuesday.

“While I have made the difficult decision to part ways with Marchesa, I have tremendous pride in the company, the team, and the many successes achieved,” Craig said. “Marchesa will always be the realisation of a dream. Over the last 16 years, it has been the most incredible and fulfilling professional journey. I am excited to now begin exploring additional creative opportunities and to push my potential as a designer in new directions.”

It’s been a rough 18 months for the New York-based fashion house, after Chapman’s estranged husband Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual assault, abuse and rape by a number of women in a series of exposes in U.S. newspapers, allegations he has denied.

The 43-year-old, who shares daughter India and son Dashiell with the disgraced movie producer, was forced to cancel the Marchesa fall 2018 runway show in the wake of the scandal, and the label has not appeared on the fashion calendar since.

Some Hollywood stars began boycotting the brand, but Scarlett Johansson braved the critics in May last year as she stepped out in a Marchesa gown at the Met Gala.

Priyanka Chopra was then spotted wearing a sleeveless gown by the fashion house at her bridal shower before her wedding to Nick Jonas in December, and U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour even threw her support behind the company, urging people to have compassion for Chapman.

“I believe that one should not hold a person responsible for the actions of his or her partner,” the 69-year-old insisted in an interview last year.

Priyanka Chopra ‘has a problem’ with Indian fashion

Priyanka Chopra has a problem with “shiny, sequinned, over-the-top” Indian saris.

The former Miss World, who was born in India, loves wearing the traditional South Asian draped gown, but prefers it to be chic, rather than garish.

“Saris are my favourite,” the 36-year-old actress told InStyle magazine. “My problem is when it comes to Indian fashion, there are always these shiny, sequinned, over-the-top Christmas-tree outfits. Those are not the saris I wear.”

Priyanka takes style advice from her mother, who was a doctor, and wore her exquisite saris while working shifts at the hospital.

“I grew up with my mother wearing saris to the hospital, as a doctor. She’d wear these beautiful ones made of French chiffon, with a bindi over here,” she said, pointing to her forehead. “And the nape of her neck would smell like Dior’s Poison. That, to me, was a modern woman. And that’s what I want to show the world. Indian designers make such incredible clothes that are inspired from beautiful embroidery and patterns.”

The Quantico star wore the traditional gown when she got married to Nick Jonas in December in Jodhpur.

According to the actress, her mother-in-law Denise Jonas loved her sari so much that she also wore one to the couple’s much smaller wedding reception in North Carolina.

Elsewhere in the interview, Priyanka, who recently declared ambitions to run for political office in her home country of India, shared her ultimate life goals.

“I want to change the world a little bit. My big endgame is creating a formidable career and legacy for myself, but at the same time I want to have moved something,” she added. “I want my existence to have meant something. I want my kids to turn around and be like, ‘Yeah, that was my mom.'”

Helen Mirren has traded in her silver hair for a new pink hue.

The British Dame unveiled the fun colour at The Best Years of a Life premiere at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend.

The pink tinge matched her floor-sweeping, rose gold Elie Saab dress and Chopard jewellery perfectly. The gown, shown at the label’s couture spring/ summer 19 show, features sequin detailing and a cinched-in waist, as well as draping to reveal one shoulder.

The dye job was only temporary though, as Helen was back to her silver roots for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Philanthropic party in the French city on Sunday night.

Other stars to shine on the red carpet at the screening of the French language film included Andie MacDowell, Priyanka Chopra, Iskra Lawrence, Monica Bellucci, Toni Garrn and Martha Hunt.

Andie, who starred alongside Helen in 2001 TV movie On the Edge, went for a structured one-shoulder white top and teamed the garment with a pair of wide-legged grey trousers. The pair happily posed together for waiting snappers, with both blowing kisses to the camera.

Priyanka upped the glam factor in a tiered white Georges Hobeika gown, which was reminiscent of a wedding dress. Her husband Nick Jonas joined her at the premiere, donning an all-white suit.

Plus-size model and L’Oreal ambassador Iskra wore a custom-made red sequinned number by Valdrin Sahiti, Monica was dressed by Dior in a plunging black dress with a statement alligator necklace, Toni went for a structured purple and a burgundy and violet asymmetric silk Ralph & Russo design, while Martha glowed in a gold mini dress.

Priyanka Chopra has added alone time with husband Nick Jonas into her self-care routine.

The actress enjoys unwinding with the singer, who she wed in December (18), at the end of a busy day and relies on their moments away from the spotlight to help her relax.

“My favourite, favourite thing is to come back home and just him and I sit, watch TV, have a glass of wine and talk about our day and just brief each other on what we’re doing,” she tells Us Weekly. “We have such independent careers, which (are) moving at such a fast pace, we don’t have time to catch up.

“I used to do it alone and now I do it with him. It’s just amazing.”

And Chopra reveals her hubby has made a few changes to his lifestyle now he’s married to one of the world’s most beautiful women – he is much more focused on caring for his skin and has even started using on of her most popular face creams.

“He keeps this one product – the HydraFactor – in his toiletry bag,” she shares. “He loves it, it has his SPF (sunscreen) in it and it’s always right on top of his bag.”

The star has been promoting her beauty regimen as part of a new partnership with skincare brand Obagi. The venture is also a way for the 36 year old to highlight the issue of inclusivity in the beauty industry.

“Inclusivity is something we’re all talking about but not doing enough about,” she adds. “And I like to be able to walk the talk. Because of the conversation there’s a pressure on companies, movies, studios to have diversity as part of the optics. But where it needs to change is to have diversity in thought.”

Priyanka Chopra is promoting diversity by teaming with the beauty brand Obagi for a new campaign.

The Baywatch actress and activist has joined forces with the global skincare line in an effort to celebrate inclusivity in the skincare industry. The star, who married Nick Jonas earlier last year (19), has signed on as the face of SKINCLUSION to encourage all to “see the beauty in all our differences”.

For the 36 year old, the collaboration is another way for her to promote a positive message.

“I want to use this as a platform to be able to (further) advocate for the importance of – and celebration of – diversity,” she tells People magazine.

Chopra also drew on her own love of self care while preparing for the new venture and points out out how much her own skin has improved since she became an ambassador for the company.

“What first stuck out to me was that Obagi is a brand that my dermatologist would recommend, so there was an immediate faith in that,” she explains to Elle. “When they approached me, I had just moved to Los Angeles and my skin was experiencing crazy breakouts. They analyzed my skin and recommended products that worked for me, and it cleared up my skin.

“I wanted to be associated with the brand because I could turn around and say the products will work with full faith and confidence.”

Chopra also made sure to research the product and its ingredients before committing to the brand.

“I said that I wanted to test the products before becoming their spokesperson,” she says. “I’m honestly really skeptical about the products I use because my face is my money maker. Only when I could say, ‘This really made my skin great,’ is when we came to an agreement of me becoming their ambassador (sic).”
