Priyanka Chopra has signed up to play real-life bioterrorist Ma Anand Sheela in a new movie for Amazon Studios.

According to editors at Deadline, the 37-year-old actress will take on the lead role in the project, titled Sheela, with Barry Levinson to direct.

The film is to document the story of how the unassuming woman managed to carry out the largest biological terrorist attack ever conducted in the U.S.

Sheela was arrested and jailed after she was convicted of conspiring to poison local restaurants in Wasco County, Oregon with salmonella in 1984 in an effort to fix a local election.

She also served as the personal secretary to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the guru and leader of the Rajneesh movement, and was also allegedly involved in immigration fraud, arson, espionage, and wiretapping.

Sheela’s story was thrust back into the spotlight in 2018 thanks to the Netflix documentary series Wild Wild Country, which focused on the conflict between the movement and locals and officials in Oregon.

David Permut is set to produce alongside Chopra, Levinson, and Jason Sosnoff, while the script will be written by Nick Yarborough, who is currently working on the upcoming Training Day prequel.

It’s a busy year ahead for Chopra, who is not only starring in Robert Rodriguez’s Netflix film We Can Be Heroes, but is also set to appear in the upcoming The Matrix reboot.

It was reported in January that the Baywatch star will be joining original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, as well as newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Neil Patrick Harris, for the fourth instalment in the sci-fi franchise, directed by Lana Wachowski.

Celebrities including Ava DuVernay, Sandra Oh, and Priyanka Chopra took to social media on Sunday night to celebrate Parasite becoming the first foreign language film to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Bong Joon Ho’s South Korean thriller was the underdog going into the ceremony and wasn’t expected to win much more than the Best International Feature Film category, but ended up sweeping the event with four wins, also including Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and the night’s coveted Best Picture prize, which had been widely expected to go to 1917.

Social media users and celebrities alike were thrilled with the surprising and historic wins, with director DuVernay tweeting, “MASSIVE! HISTORIC! LANDMARK! PARASITE! The world is big and it is beautiful and films from everywhere deserve to be on that stage winning @TheAcademy’s highest honour. This is wonderful and right. #Oscars.”

Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu wrote, “Parasite Parasite Parasite Parasite!!!! Oh my gawwwdddd Parasite did it (sic)!!!! Director Bong did it!! The whole insanely talented cast did it!! South Korea did it. History made. Heading out to celebrate all night!!!” while Killing Eve star Oh posted, “Congratulations @ParasiteMovie So so proud to be Korean.”

Indian actress Chopra added, “Wow! It’s so emotional to see an international film like Parasite, in Korean with English subtitles, not only receive such a warm embrace from audiences around the world, but also this kind of recognition from one of the most prestigious film academy’s (sic) in the world… Congratulations to the entire film for shattering the glass ceiling and making history as the first non-English film to win Best Picture.”

South Korean President Moon Jae-in also offered up his congratulations on social media, thanking Joon Ho for giving “pride and courage” to the country’s people.

Earlier in the night, as the filmmaker accepted the Best Director prize, he told the audience, “After winning Best International Feature, I thought I was done for the day and was ready to relax. Thank you so much… I never thought I would win.”

He let other members of the Parasite team speak following the Best Picture win but told reporters backstage that the film’s Oscars haul was “really f**king crazy”.

Priyanka Chopra is reportedly in final talks to join The Matrix 4.

The fourth movie was announced back in August, with co-creator Lana Wachowski at the helm and original stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith reprising their roles of Neo, Trinity, and Niobe, respectively.

According to editors at Variety, Chopra will join Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick as the newest additions to the Matrix franchise.

The 37-year-old actress, who is no stranger to action movies thanks to her role in Baywatch alongside Dwayne Johnson, has yet to comment on the reports.

Castmembers have been taking part in lengthy fight training sessions since early December ahead of production on the Warner Bros. film, which is set to begin soon in northern California.

Meanwhile, Reeves has been training with his co-stars on The Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 simultaneously, Variety reports.

The sci-fi franchise began back in 1999 with The Matrix and followed the story of Neo, Trinity and Morpheus, played by Laurence Fishburne, who try to break free of a virtual reality system that is guarded by Hugo Weaving’s sinister artificial intelligence programme, Agent Smith.

The 59-year-old Australian actor recently announced he wouldn’t be reprising his role for the fourth instalment due to scheduling conflicts, as he’s due to appear on the London stage alongside Lesley Manville in The Visit.

“I was in touch with Lana Wachowski, but in the end, she decided that the dates weren’t going to work. So, we’d sorted the dates and then she sort of changed her mind. They’re pushing on ahead without me,” Weaving explained to Time Out.

The Matrix 4 is scheduled to hit cinemas in May 2021.

Donatella Versace was thrilled to dress a number of stars for the 2020 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Following the ceremony held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Italian designer, who oversees the Versace fashion house, took to Instagram to share images of the celebrities her team had outfitted for the annual music bash.

Alongside a snap of Lil Nas X in a hot pink suit and matching cowboy hat, she wrote, “Breathtaking @lilnasx … such a look!! Love it!!” while beside a picture of Lizzo rocking an Old Hollywood-inspired strapless white gown, the fashion star praised: “Such a #RedCarpet dream… Perfection! Lizzo!”

Elsewhere, members of the Versace atelier made the black ballgown sported by Camila Cabello for her red carpet entrance, as well as the lilac dress she wore to perform First Man during the show, and the sexy canary yellow number she slipped into later on.

Other designers to make outfits for multiple artists included Christian Siriano, who dreamed up glamorous looks for the likes of Shania Twain, Best New Artist nominee YOLA, Lizzo, and Demi Lovato.

“Demi, it was an honour to create for you tonight and WOW that was unbelievable! Love you!” he captioned a picture of the singer sporting a white ballgown while performing her new song Anyone.

Other standout looks on the night included the white beaded Ralph & Russo dress donned by Priyanka Chopra, the monogrammed Gucci number sported by multiple Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish, and the Cinderella-esque Giambattista Valli dress rocked by Ariana Grande as she made her red carpet entrance.

Jennifer Lopez pulled out all of the stops for the 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

The superstar, who was nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture category for her role in Hustlers, turned up to The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California rocking a custom-made white silk Valentino gown with dramatic gold and green bow detailing on the bodice.

Jennifer topped off her look with Harry Winston jewellery, a Judith Leiber bag, and had her brunette locks swept back into a plaited bun – with the hairstyle reminiscent of the look she wore in a key scene in her 2002 film Maid in Manhattan.

The actress, who lost out to Laura Dern for her performance in Marriage Story, was styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, and accompanied by her sportsman fiance Alex Rodriguez on the red carpet. Alex sported a tuxedo for the night, and in a post on Instagram, joked that he looked like the 50-year-old entertainer’s security guard.

“Head of @jlo security, reporting for red carpet duty! @goldenglobes,” he wrote.

Apart from Jennifer’s eye-catching ballgown, a major trend for the night was the colour pink.

Priyanka Chopra, who served as a presenter, opted for a stunning pastel pink off-the-shoulder Cristina Ottaviano dress with delicate drapery. She completed the ensemble with Christian Louboutin shoes and Bulgari bling.

Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish stood out in a pink Galia Lahav dress, Isla Fisher made a statement in a fuchsia Monique Lhuillier gown, and Adam Driver’s wife Joanne Tucker sported a hot pink silk outfit with high neck and oversized sleeves.

Emily Ratajkowski has splurged on a diamond nameplate necklace featuring the name of her pet dog Colombo.

The model/actress showed off the new accessory in an Instagram selfie, as she wore the diamond-encrusted LAJOUX nameplate necklace with her furry friend’s name in cursive font while lounging in bed.

The customisable design can cost around $1,000 (£761), and has become a favourite among celebrities. Both Priyanka Chopra and Bella Hadid have both sported the design with their own names around their necks, while Khloe Kardashian also has a necklace with daughter True Thompson’s name in diamonds.

The jewellery isn’t Emily’s first dedication to her beloved dog. In August, the 28-year-old’s husband Sebastian Bear-McClard gifted her a portrait pendant with a picture of the couple with their dog surrounded by diamonds.

The present was accompanied by an “S” pendant for his name and an “R” for her famous last name.

Emily is regularly spotted walking Colombo in New York City. And during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May, she admitted the pup often receives more attention than she does.

“He’s a total mutt, but you can see from his paws he’s going to be a very big boy. So, I think one day I might have to bring him back, you know when he’s a full grown man,” she said. “My whole perception of New York is different because people are coming up to me and they’re like, ‘Hi, can I get a picture?’ and I’m like ‘Yeah, sure’ and then they’re like ‘…of your dog.'”

Priyanka Chopra has teamed up with executives at Crocs and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to donate 50,000 pairs of shoes to underprivileged children.

Last month, it was announced that The Sky Is Pink actress is to front the U.S. footwear brand’s upcoming Come As You Are imagery, which is due to be released in 2020.

But in addition to her gig with Crocs, she has also now unveiled a joint collaboration with leaders at UNICEF, in which 25,000 pairs of Classic Clogs have already been donated to children in Belize, while another 25,000 pairs will be given over the next year.

“As a global ambassador for UNICEF, I’m dedicated to connecting organisations that together can have a large and positive impact on children around the world,” the 37-year-old shared. “Working with Crocs to distribute more than 50,000 pairs of their Classic Clogs will have a tremendous impact on school-age children in Belize, reducing barriers to education, and easing social and peer-related stressors that come with not having basic everyday resources that many take for granted.”

Barriers to education in Belize include poverty, disability, late entry, and inadequate preparation for primary school, among other factors.

Accordingly, bosses at Crocs hope the initiative will make a difference to young ones living in the region.

“At Crocs, we believe being comfortable in your own shoes is a first step to accessing quality education,” added Heidi Cooley, vice president of global marketing, at Crocs. “With this donation, we hope to deliver shoes to more than half of the student population attending primary and secondary school classes in Belize, while reducing the financial burden for their families.”

Priyanka has worked with UNICEF since 2006.

Nick Jonas wanted to create fragrance inspired by his ‘crazy year’

Nick Jonas’s latest fragrance launch was inspired by the “craziest year” of his life.

Over the last 12 months, the 27-year-old has married Priyanka Chopra and reunited with his brothers Joe and Kevin for the Jonas Brothers’ musical comeback.

His wedding to the Quantico star consisted of two official weddings and a week of celebrations, which Nick later confessed had been wild and extravagant, and he and his brothers also released their first single in six years, Sucker, which was subsequently followed by an album, Happiness Begins, and a U.S. tour.

Accordingly, Nick wanted to capture the chaos of his whirlwind year in JVxNJ Silver Edition, his third fragrance collaboration with designer John Varvatos.

“We’re in probably the craziest year of our lives, both together in the work we’re doing and separately,” he told Allure magazine. “Men these days are balancing a lot and always on the go. We wanted to have this feel like a little bit of a disconnect, a little fearless, but it also should give you energy. We tried to bottle that up in this thing.”

The singer is blown away by the feedback he’s received from fans of the fragrance, and loves that it gives them confidence.

“I aim to build something that becomes part of the fabric of people’s lives, just like how a favourite song can make you feel really confident and give you energy,” the star gushed.

Featuring notes of Italian lemon, green leaves, chromatic sage and amber, Varvatos stressed that while the scent is more masculine, it “transcends across gender”.

“We just think of scents that we love and want to wear. I think the world is much more open to that today,” he shared.

JVxNJ Silver Eau de Toilette, priced at $74 ($57), is available now.

Nick Jonas has confessed he sometimes steals face masks from his wife Priyanka Chopra.

The singer/actor wed the Quantico beauty in an opulent ceremony last December, and in a new interview with People, revealed that when he runs out of his skincare products, he doesn’t hesitate to use Priyanka’s.

“For sure. I don’t know who makes them, but (I take her) sheet masks. Then I’ll occasionally run out of facial moisturiser or something and I’ll use hers. I think she likes it. She likes to share. Or maybe she doesn’t. We’ll see,” Nick laughed.

The Jumanji: The Next Level star recently launched JVxNJ Silver Edition, his third fragrance collaboration with designer John Varvatos. And he said his famous older brothers – Joe and Kevin – were left out of the creative process as they don’t have any ideas when it comes to selecting aftershaves.

“My brothers have terrible opinions! They like the first one John and I made (JVxNJ) but I haven’t shown them this one yet,” the 27-year-old shared, adding that wife Priyanka loves the new fragrance, which features note of bergamot, sage, patchouli, and sandalwood.

“She likes that I am mixing it up,” he commented of the new, muskier scent. “I’m glad that she does because I’ll be wearing it quite a lot! When I am planning what I am wearing, since my closet has a lot of variety, a big piece of the puzzle is choosing what fragrance I want to wear too.”

JVXNJ Silver Edition is priced from $74 (£58).
