Gotti and Holmes & Watson are among the top contenders to be named worst movie of 2018 at the upcoming Golden Raspberry Awards.

The spoof film prizes, also known as the Razzies and Razzie Awards, were announced in a YouTube video by organisers on Sunday night (20Jan19), with John Travolta’s crime-drama Gotti and Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s buddy comedy Holmes & Watson each receiving six nominations.

In addition, Melissa McCarthy’s black comedy The Happytime Murders garnered six nods, as did Dinesh D’Souza’s political documentary Death of a Nation, while Winchester, Robin Hood, Fifty Shades Freed and Death Wish all received multiple nominations.

Travolta is up for the Worst Actor for his performance as mob boss John Gotti, with the category rounded out by Bruce Willis in Death Wish, Ferrell in Holmes & Watson, Johnny Depp in animated feature Sherlock Gnomes, and perhaps most controversially, U.S. President Donald Trump is nominated over archival footage of himself in documentaries Death of a Nation and Fahrenheit 11/9.

Travolta and his real-life wife Kelly Preston also scored a nod for Worst Screen Combo.

Meanwhile, McCarthy is up for worst actress in two films, The Happytime Murders and Life of the Party, while Peppermint’s Jennifer Garner, London Fields’ Amber Heard, Winchester’s Helen Mirren, and The Clapper’s Amanda Seyfried join her in the category.
