Lili Reinhart has been giving her skin a break from cosmetics during lockdown.

The 23-year-old actress usually has to wear make-up for long hours every day while she plays Betty Cooper in TV series Riverdale, so she has been using the enforced time off as an opportunity to give her skin a much-needed break.

“It’s interesting going from one extreme to another, like wearing make-up for 16 hours a day to wearing none at all,” she told U.S. Marie Claire. “I definitely have not been wearing make-up on a daily basis and because of that, I’ve been having to remind myself to keep up with my skincare routine during quarantine. I cleanse twice a day, moisturise, and all of those good things, but I have to remember to mask and exfoliate.”

In normal conditions, the Hustlers star loves to wear make-up that allows her natural skin to show through as well as clean products which don’t break the bank.

“I don’t like to spend $30 on a mascara. I look for a good deal when I can,” she explained. “Clean beauty wasn’t something I was super aware of until a few years ago. And I know that a lot of people are possibly naive to what’s actually in make-up. Now, everyone’s paying attention to what they put on their face so they appreciate accessible brands like CoverGirl that are cruelty-free, clean, and vegan. Make-up is not just this superficial thing, it’s very tied in with our self-esteem. Beauty is so important and because of that we need to make sure we are using quality products.”

Lili was named a brand ambassador for CoverGirl in October last year.

Lili Reinhart is learning to accept her cystic acne rather than feel ashamed of it.

The Riverdale actress revealed she suffers from the severe skin condition in 2018 when she posted a make-up-free selfie on her Instagram Stories which showed her wearing spot cream, and she went on to share that she’s had cystic acne since was 12 years old and her battle with it has knocked her confidence and self-esteem over the years.

The 23-year-old has since overhauled her attitude towards her skin’s appearance and will no longer try to hide her face during a breakout.

“Sometimes, skin struggles and breakouts are inevitable. So, instead of trying to control your skin it’s more important to focus on your outlook,” she told U.S. Marie Claire. “I used to let a breakout debilitate me. I wouldn’t leave the house because I was so ashamed and would wear a baseball cap to cover my face if I did have to go somewhere. I would even avoid mirrors.

“It used to be really awful because my attitude about my skin was awful. What helped me is accepting my acne, rather than hiding it…or trying to do a bunch of laser treatments or really expensive microneedling treatments.”

The Hustlers star has eventually come to realise that nobody cares about her acne except herself and this has helped her when she’s feeling self-conscious.

“It’s a hard pill to swallow, but nope, no one gives a c**p about the pimple on your forehead. To let it stop you from going out and feeling happy is only hurting yourself,” she shared. “It’s easier said than done and something that I still deal with, but reminding myself that acne is normal and natural and not negatively affecting everyone the way that we think about it in our own heads has helped.”

Cystic acne is the most serious type of acne which tends to occur in people with oily skin. It develops when cysts form deep underneath the skin.

Lili Reinhart has to be “more disciplined” with her skincare regime during lockdown.

The Riverdale actress discussed her beauty routine while self-isolating at home amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and she confessed that she has to do better when it comes to her skin.

“I have to remind myself to exfoliate and do masks. Because I’m not wearing a lot of makeup right now, my skin is doing pretty well,” Lili told Elle U.S. magazine. “Then, I step outside and look in the mirror up close and I’m like, ‘Oh God, I need to exfoliate.'”

The 23-year-old is enjoying time off from filming the hit TV show Riverdale, and said the Hollywood shut down has prompted her to stop focusing on her face now she’s not in the make-up chair on set.

“When I’m not forced to be doing my make-up every day, staring at my face in a mirror, and doing touch-ups on set, I don’t prioritise my skin as much,” Lili explained. “I’m definitely still a fanatic about cleansing and washing my face when I wake up and when I go to bed, but I’ve had to remind myself to go the extra mile and do a nice face mask.

“I have to be a little bit more disciplined, but I’m not complaining,” the Hustlers star added.

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed her style inspirations are Elle Fanning and Margot Robbie, as she prefers a natural look.

“I love how she keeps everything so natural and you can always see her skin. Everything is so youthful and that’s what I try to do in my own makeup,” she said of the Maleficent actress. “I also think Margot Robbie has a really cool and beautiful look.”

Vanessa Morgan will only wear clothes made by black designers on the red carpet from now on.

Earlier this week, the Riverdale actress took to Twitter to announce that she will be making changes to the way she dresses in the future, and also called on aspiring fashion creatives to get in touch with her.

“From now on any red carpet or event, I will be wearing and supporting Black designers. Any aspiring Black designers hit me up. I got you. I see you,” the 28-year-old posted.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better role model. This is amazing Vanessa,” one fan replied, while another wrote: “I’m always excited to see your pictures from events but now I’ll be extra excited because I’ll know you’re supporting so many talented black designers.”

Vanessa’s post comes after she opened up about the lack of representation and equality in Hollywood, and confessed she was tired of being cast as “sidekick” character and given barely any screen time, but was used in advertising to champion “diversity”.

“To my black fans, I have now made it my purpose to fight for us,” Vanessa wrote on Twitter. “To the six-year-old me who had no role model that looked like me on TV. This is for you. We aren’t your token black non-dimensional characters. This is being black in Hollywood. I will fight for YOU.

“And I will no longer take roles that don’t properly represent us. PERIOD,” she fired.

Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa later responded to the star’s allegations in a post on Instagram, and promised to do better.

“We hear Vanessa. We love Vanessa. She’s right. We’re sorry and we make the same promise to you that we did to her. We will do better to honour her and the character she plays. As well as all of our actors and characters of colour,” he commented.

Riverdale star Camila Mendes was thrilled to be able to take on a more mature role in Dangerous Lies.

In the Netflix thriller, the actress stars as Katie, who is drawn into a web of deception and murder when the elderly man she cares for dies and unexpectedly leaves his estate to her.

The part marks a big departure for Camila, who is known for playing rich high school student Veronica Lodge in Riverdale, and she was thrilled to have the opportunity to portray a different character.

“It was really nice to know that I could be seen that way, to play a more mature role. Obviously, I love playing high school, too. It’s not like I’m opposed to either. It felt nice to graduate to an older character,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Camila also liked getting to play a character who is struggling financially as she has been playing the wealthy Veronica since 2017.

“I really enjoyed that change of pace of playing a character that wasn’t born with money,” the 25-year-old continued. “I think it’s nice because not only does it make the character more relatable to the audience, but I also think it’s sometimes a more interesting story to have a character who is really working toward something. Not to say that Veronica isn’t. She definitely is very ambitious. But I always personally gravitate toward characters that are kind of figuring it out.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Camila revealed the film’s shootout sequence was her most memorable day on set because it was so time-consuming and emotionally difficult.

“It took an entire day to film. We had to shoot from every angle,” she explained. “I had to stay in that state of hysteria for an uncomfortably long time.”

Dangerous Lies is now streaming on Netflix.

Lili Reinhart watched countless YouTube tutorials in order to master special effects make-up.

The Riverdale actress stunned fans in 2014 when she posted several different gory make-up techniques that showcased her unusual talent on social media, and in a new interview, revealed that it took her a long time to perfect.

“I moved across the country when I was 16 and ended up finishing my high school online, so… after I was done with my schoolwork and just trying to fill my time, I started watching YouTube tutorials,” Lili told Elite Daily.

The 23-year-old started out watching videos online from experts including Michelle Phan and NikkieTutorials, and eventually ended up in the world of special effects make-up, which sparked her fascination immediately.

“I’d save my money to buy some special effects make-up off of Amazon,” she admitted.

Lili has since debuted her talents with her impressive costume make-up at Halloween, and has transformed herself into a skeleton, a zombie with rotting facial wounds, and even managed to make her friend’s finger look like it had been severed.

And the Hustlers star offered her fans a live demonstration of her skills on YouTube when she gave her Riverdale co-star Madelaine Petsch a realistically bloody shark bite.

But she insisted that her beauty journey started by simply experimenting at her local drugstore, like other friends her age.

“I remember my first make-up bag full of my first drugstore make-up,” Lili shared. “I used one of those dirty, white sponges that everyone always had in their make-up bag and would use to re-apply their foundation over and over again.”

KJ Apa hired a stylist after his Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse urged him to “sort out” his fashion.

The New Zealand-born actor, who has earned himself a legion of fans by playing Archie Andrews in the teen drama, is known for being in great physical shape, something which he regularly shows off in topless scenes and photos.

But in an interview with Men’s Health magazine, KJ admitted that while he cares about his body, he doesn’t put much thought into his clothing.

“I’m a very instinctual shopper, and very impulsive,” he said. “I’ll go out, I’ll see something, I don’t even try it on. I just buy it.”

However, KJ, who likes to experiment with bright colours, bold patterns, oversized, comfortable shapes, was forced to reassess his choices two years ago when he was confronted by Cole, 27, who told him, “Bro, you need a stylist.”

“I was showing up to red carpets in jeans and button-down T-shirts. And I realised, ‘Yeah, I’ve got to get this sorted out,'” the 22-year-old reflected.

KJ enlisted the help of stylist Warren Alfie Baker, who has worked with the likes of Miles Teller and Lucas Hedges, and he now feels more confident in dressing formally.

“Confidence is everything. Otherwise, everyone can see you look uncomfortable, and it’s not a good look,” he insisted.

Elsewhere in the interview, KJ revealed he was still trying to find a balance between working out constantly and giving himself a break.

“It’s important to give yourself balance, which is still something I’m trying to learn. Like, to work out hard for three weeks, take a week to chill. Otherwise, you burn yourself out, and I’ve experienced that,” The Last Summer star shared. “But, I mean, look at Dwayne Johnson. He gets it done.”

Lili Reinhart is disappointed by one of her tattoos because it’s “crooked”.

The Riverdale star has been inked four times, including an arrow and a rose on her forearms and a cross on her finger, but it’s her fourth tattoo that she’s most upset with.

Before she was famous, Reinhart headed to a popular Los Angeles-based artist to get an Earth symbol on her ribcage but it ended up looking like a pizza slice.

“It’s an earth sign – an upside-down triangle with a little line in it,” Reinhart explained. “People think it’s pizza. It’s crooked. I went to a really popular L.A. tattoo artist.

“Then when I was famous, he reached out to me and was like, ‘I would love to tattoo you.’ I was like, ‘B***h, you already did and you made it crooked.’ Well, I didn’t say the crooked part.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the 23-year-old opened up about her battle with cystic acne, which started when she was in elementary school.

“When I was in seventh grade, I started getting cystic acne on my forehead. I still get breakouts, but it’s much more under control now,” she shared, before adding that her biggest beauty extravagance is getting non-invasive laser treatments and facials from Renee Rouleau to help fight breakouts.

The Hustlers star also revealed that she gives her family skincare products as gifts, and is a big fan of the make-up styles on the hit HBO show Euphoria.

“I want glittery stars on my face. Euphoria did an amazing job at segueing crazy makeup into everyday looks, which is so wonderful,” Reinhart gushed.

Lili Reinhart is “intimidated” when she compares her body to that of her Riverdale castmates.

The actress, who stars alongside Camila Mendes, KJ Apa, and her real-life boyfriend Cole Sprouse in the TV show, made the confession as she responded to a fan who asked why everyone on the teen drama has “perfectly chiselled bodies”, with the viewer continuing: “Don’t you think TV shows like this aimed at teenagers are contributing to unrealistic body expectations body image issues?”

Lili replied by stating that she doesn’t have a perfect body and sometimes feels insecure when she has to act in her underwear.

“Actually, not everyone on this show is perfectly chiselled. And even I feel intimidated by the physique of my surrounding castmates sometimes when I have to do bra/underwear scenes,” she tweeted. “I’ve felt very insecure due to the expectation that people have for women on TV, what they should look like.

“But I have come to terms with my body and that I’m not the kind of person you would see walking on a runway during fashion week. I have bigger boobs, I have cellulite on my thighs/butt, and my stomach sticks out rather than curves in.”

The Hustlers star went on to admit that she struggles with her imperfections every day and is insecure about the weight she has gained in the last two months due to her battle with depression.

However, she was determined to “be strong and show confidence in myself, looking as I do” when she had to film a recent underwear scene because feels obligated to set an example for others.

“I want other young women to see my body on TV and feel comfort in the fact that I’m not a size 0. And I’m not a perfect hourglass shape,” the 23-year-old wrote. “This industry struggles with accurate representation of female and male bodies.”

Shannon Purser is starring in the campaign for Christian Siriano’s new fragrance.

The actress, perhaps best known for her roles in TV shows Stranger Things and Riverdale, has been tapped by the fashion designer to front the imagery for his feminine perfume, Midnight Silhouette.

Snapped by Shane LaVancher in Paris, Shannon poses in a dramatic black ballgown for the photoshoot, and accordingly, she had a blast working on the project.

“Maybe one of the most surreal things that’s ever happened to me. Christian has been an inspiration to me for a while now,” she wrote alongside one of the campaign photos on her Instagram page. “He made the first dress I ever wore on a red carpet and it meant the world, especially considering how rare it is to find a designer willing to dress you when you’re plus size. It’s amazing to work with talented people, but even better to work with *good* talented people who are actively making positive changes in the world. All this to say, thank you so much for this opportunity @csiriano.”

Midnight Silhouette has top notes of bitter orange and pomelo, heart notes of freesia and immortelle, and a base of musk, praline, and vetiver.

And Shannon insisted she is a big fan of the Midnight Silhouette scent.

“I actually wear this fragrance all the time and it smells lovely, so give it a try if you’re looking for a new signature scent,” the 22-year-old added.

Christian posted a string of images from the photoshoot on his Instagram page too, writing in the caption: “Celebrating this beauty and her silhouette for our new fragrance!”

And a number of his celebrity followers were quick to praise the imagery, with Christina Hendricks commenting, “Takes my breath away,” and Lili Reinhart praising, “The Lord has blessed us on this day.”
