Officials at the Screen Actors Guild Awards will consider movies not released in theatres as part of the 2021 ceremony.

In April, bosses at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which organises the Oscars, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which oversees the Golden Globes, announced they would be making temporary changes to their eligibility criteria due to the unprecedented closure of cinemas caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

And on Thursday, organisers of the SAG Awards reportedly sent an email to film studio executives announcing that they would be following suit and allowing films which were supposed to have a theatrical release to be submitted for awards consideration.

“We are still revising our film release criteria but will be following the Academy’s rule change to allow titles with a planned theatrical release to be eligible if streamed or released on VOD first,” the email reads, according to Variety. “Full language will be announced in June along with the rest of our rules.”

Previously, to be eligible for consideration for Oscars glory, films had to be shown in a commercial cinema in Los Angeles County for a theatrical run of at least seven consecutive days. But this year, Academy representatives confirmed that movies which had been set for a theatrical run yet had to be released on streaming or video-on-demand services instead may still qualify for categories, including Best Picture, at the 93rd Academy Awards. The Hollywood event is set to take place on 28 February 2021.

A date for the 2021 SAG Awards has not yet been announced.

Sarah Hyland has clapped back at a social media troll who claimed she had a spray tan for the 2020 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The Modern Family actress looked stunning in a floral Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini gown, which featured a high-low skirt, at the celebrity-studded ceremony on Sunday night.

Sarah paired the outfit with silver heels and had her brunette hair slicked back into a chic low ponytail, and while posing for photographers on the red carpet, showed off the deep tan that she had topped up during a holiday to Mexico earlier this month.

The 29-year-old shared a series of snaps of her at the event on Instagram and joked that she had a blanket on hand if she got cold.

“If my legs got cold, I had an extra built-in blanket. Thanks to the village that put all of this together I felt like a goddess last night,” she wrote.

However, one irate follower threw shade at the star, and blasted her for allegedly faking her tan.

“The spray tan is way too much,” they posted.

The comment promoted Sarah to quickly reply: “I’ll tell the actual sun to go easy on me next time I see it…”

However, her fiance, former The Bachelorette alum Wells Adams, had no complaints about her show-stopping look, and simply commented, “Dear lord”, alongside a drooling emoji.

“Just. Every. Thing,” Sarah’s longtime friend and fellow actress Vanessa Hudgens wrote, while Brandi Cyrus added: “Soooo gorgeous!!!!!!!”

Jennifer Aniston has revealed how she kept her stunning white silk vintage dress wrinkle-free on her way to the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The 50-year-old actress hit the red carpet at the star-studded ceremony on Sunday in a show-stopping John Galliano for Christian Dior gown, and has since confessed to her followers on Instagram that getting there without creasing the delicate silk was a challenge.

Jennifer shared a photo of herself laying down in the back of a car as she headed out to the SAG Awards, grinning to the camera and flashing a peace sign.

“No wrinkles… harder than it looks!” she joked, before posting another photo of her vintage dress draped over a bathtub, near her black stiletto sandals and her SAG Award, which she won for her role on The Morning Show, after the show.

“Somewhere between these two photos, my peers gave me a gift I will cherish and a night I will never forget,” she touchingly wrote.

Her famous friends were quick to heap praise on the star in the comments, with Gwyneth Paltrow writing: “So deserved.”

“So proud of you! And you’re gorgeous,” her longtime best friend and former Friends co-star Courteney Cox wrote, while Mindy Kaling asked: “How can you be so pretty sitting like this?”

Jennifer beat fellow nominees Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter, Jodie Comer, and Elisabeth Moss on Sunday to win Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role as Alex Levy in the Apple TV+ show.

“Oh my gosh, this is so unbelievable,” she said as she accepted the award, which marked her first win at the SAG Awards since 1996.

Leonardo DiCaprio was “incredibly starstruck” by the late Luke Perry while working with him on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The Riverdale actor tragically passed away at the age of 52 in March last year following a massive stroke, and his final acting performance was as real-life TV star Wayne Maunder in Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-nominated drama, which follows DiCaprio as failed actor Rick Dalton.

In one scene, Maunder appears alongside Dalton as the duo film the pilot of real-life TV series Lancer, and DiCaprio confessed he was starstruck working with the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star.

“He was so incredibly kind,” he told Variety on the red carpet at the 2020 Screen Guild Awards (SAG) Awards. “I was incredibly starstruck when he walked into the room. He was so iconic (when I was) in school and junior high, he was the modern-day James Dean to all of us.”

DiCaprio was in awe when he first spotted Perry on set and had to compose himself.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting to work with this guy who all of my friends thought was the coolest dude in the world’,” he laughed. “But, beyond that, he was such a wonderfully kind and soulful man, and it’s a tragic loss.”

The 45-year-old was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture category at the SAGs on Sunday, but was beaten by Joaquin Phoenix for Joker.

During his speech, Phoenix joked that he had lost out on roles to DiCaprio when they were both child actors, but the Titanic star confessed to Variety that he once imitated one of Phoenix’s performances to help him secure a role on a TV show when he was younger.

“I remember one job that I did get, where I imitated Mr. Joaquin Phoenix from Parenthood the movie, and I did the TV show,” DiCaprio laughed.

Charlize Theron had a diamond bracelet woven into her hair for the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.

The actress, who was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category for Bombshell, but lost out to Judy’s Renee Zellweger, looked stunning in a black and silver Givenchy outfit when she stepped out onto the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

But while Charlize’s ensemble garnered lots of attention, it was the Tiffany & Co. diamond tennis bracelet placed on her centre parting that really had fans talking.

“I didn’t have time to do my roots. So, my lovely friend Adir (Abergel, hairstylist) said, ‘Why don’t we throw a Tiffany necklace or bracelet in there,'” she told People at the event.

The bracelet, costing around $15,000 (£11,500), contained approximately three carats worth of diamonds. Charlize also sported large diamond earrings, bracelets, and rings from the luxury brand.

And in a video posted on his Instagram page, celebrity hairstylist Adir shared a close-up of his handiwork, with it appearing that he had braided the 44-year-old’s hair down the middle, before sewing the bracelet in with thread to secure it.

“Thank you, everyone, for the overwhelming love and messages about this futuristic look. Here’s a closer look at how I attached that beautiful @tiffanyandco tennis bracelet. Shiny hair and diamonds can make anyone happy,” he commented.

Other celebrities to opt for lots of sparkle at the 2020 SAG Awards included Jennifer Lopez, who teamed her elegant Georges Hobeika gown with a beautiful diamond necklace from Harry Winston, Reese Witherspoon, who rocked a one-shoulder crystal-studded Celine dress, and Dakota Fanning, who positively sparkled in a heavily sequined seafoam green Valentino creation.

Michelle Williams and America Ferrera proudly showed off their baby bumps at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday night.

The actress hit the red carpet with her new fiance Thomas Kail, just weeks after news of her pregnancy broke, and stunned in a black off-the-shoulder Louis Vuitton dress.

Michelle’s blossoming baby bump was just visible underneath her flowing column dress, with the 39-year-old choosing to top off her look with a slick of ruby red lipstick and Forevermark jewellery.

And the star was also one of the winners at the ceremony, scooping the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries gong for her role as Gwen Verdon in drama series Fosse/Verdon.

While accepting her prize, Michelle paid tribute to Hamilton director Thomas, and also thanked her 14-year-old daughter Matilda, whom she shared with the late Heath Ledger.

“Tommy, like everything else in our life, I share this with you, and Matilda, it’s one thing to be completely honest as an actor. It’s another thing to be completely honest as a human being,” she gushed. “And that’s just who you are and how you live, and you teach me just by being you. I love you, and I’m coming home.”

Also hitting the red carpet with a blossoming baby bump was Superstore actress America, who announced in December that she was expecting her second child with husband Ryan Piers Williams.

The 35-year-old wowed in a chic sleeveless black crepe gown by Paule Ka, and shared a series of snaps on Instagram showcasing her pregnancy look.

“Mommy & Daddy go out (in matching tuxedos)!!” she wrote.

Joaquin Phoenix gave a heartfelt shout out to Heath Ledger during his touching speech at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday.

The 45-year-old won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role prize on Sunday for his haunting portrayal of failed comedian Arthur Fleck, who becomes the infamous Gotham City villain in Joker.

When he took to the stage to deliver his speech, Phoenix made sure he acknowledged the late Australian actor, who played the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight back in 2008 and tragically died of an accidental overdose just months before its release. He posthumously won a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Academy Award for his riveting performance as the comic book villain.

Phoenix, who has already won two of the same awards and is frontrunner for Best Actor at the Oscars in February, paid tribute to the late actor by saying, “Really, I’m standing here on the shoulders of my favourite actor, Heath Ledger.”

As well as his touching reference to Ledger, Phoenix used his time onstage to honour each of his fellow nominees in his category.

He opened his speech with a story about Leonardo DiCaprio, who was nominated for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and joked that he lost out on roles as a young actor to the Titanic star.

“There would always be two other guys that I was up against and we’d always lose to this one kid… every casting director would always whisper, ‘It’s Leonardo,'” he said. “You’ve been an inspiration for over 25 years to me and so many people.”

He then turned to Christian Bale, and jokingly begged him to perform badly in at least one movie, saying, “It’s infuriating. I wish you would. Just suck once.”

The star then focused on Adam Driver, who was up for his role in Marriage Story, and told him “you should be here (winning the award)”.

“I’ve been watching you the last few years and you’ve been turning in these beautiful, nuanced, incredible, profound performances. I’m just so moved by you,” Phoenix gushed.

Finally, he heaped praise on Rocketman star Taron Egerton, and told the Welshman from the stage, “You’re so beautiful in this movie and I’m so happy for you, and I can’t wait to see what else you do.”

Jared Harris has denied he’s playing villain Doctor Octopus in upcoming Spider-Man spin-off Morbius.

The first trailer for the comic book thriller recently dropped to the delight of Marvel fans and showed Jared Leto as scientist Dr. Michael Morbius, who accidentally turns himself into a vampire after trying to cure himself of a rare blood disease.

Harris’ mysterious character has been described as a mentor to the young scientist, and the trailer shows him saying he’s known Michael Morbius since he was a boy.

Flashback footage also shows Harris’ character protecting a young Michael, leading fans to speculate that the 58-year-old will be playing Dr. Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus.

However, during an interview with Variety at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday, the Chernobyl star flat out denied he would be playing the villain.

“No,” Harris stated. “I love the imagination that the fans have, it’s exciting for me to think about the imagination that the fans have. But yeah no, it’s not.”

He also expressed his excitement at seeing the film when it’s released this summer, and teased: “That part is always a surprise, and that’s always impressive.”

Alfred Molina previously played the engineer-turned-villain, who has giant mechanical arms attached to his body that he controls with his mind, opposite Tobey Maguire as the web-slinging superhero in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 in 2004.

Morbius, which also stars Matt Smith, Michael Keaton and Tyrese Gibson, is released in July.

Lupita Nyong’o channels Emma Thompson when she’s on the red carpet.

English actress Emma famously photobombed the Kenyan-Mexican star at the 2014 SAG Awards, the year Lupita went home with the Best Supporting Actress gong for 12 Years a Slave.

While Lupita posed regally for photographers in a teal Gucci gown, Emma jumped in behind her making funny faces. Talking to PorterEdit about her fellow actress, Lupita admits she now takes a leaf out of Emma’s book when it comes to glitzy events.

“Emma Thompson, she’s the realest woman. Observing her on the red carpet and how free and irreverent she was,” Lupita recalled of their 2014 encounter. “She was like, ‘Don’t sweat it. We get to wear pretty dresses and prance around this red carpet, so enjoy it.’ That made it less pressure. I’m like, ‘Okay, I need to channel my Emma Thompson. This is a big moment in my life, but also it’s just a moment.’”

Lupita also bagged the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and BAFTA that year.

Since then, Lupita has become a red carpet regular thanks to roles in box office smashes like Black Panther, The Jungle Book and the Star Wars franchise.

Working with stylist Micaela Erlanger for her premiere and awards looks, Lupita has become known for her fearless fashion choices, and she’s now also experimenting with bold beauty looks too.

At the premiere of her new film with Jordan Peele, Us, at the South by Southwest Film Festival, she showed off eye make-up inspired by a look seen on Annie Lennox in the ‘80s, and a hairstyle based on one Snoop Dogg wore in the ‘90s.

It was a battle of the plunging necklines at the SAG Awards on Sunday night (27Jan19), but Lady Gaga ultimately won with her stunning Dior Haute Couture white gown.

The 32-year-old singer and actress looked incredible in the eye-catching piece as she posed on the silver carpet ahead of the star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles.

And it seems Gaga’s ensemble may have been a last-minute choice, considering the outfit only debuted on the catwalk at the Christian Dior show during Paris Couture Fashion Week last week.

The A Star is Born beauty teamed the dress, which featured a daringly low neckline and a sexy thigh-high split, with a swipe of dark lipstick and matching nails. She completed her outfit by adding a gold and diamond choker, gold earrings and several bracelets, while wearing her platinum blonde hair swept back in a chic updo. White Jimmy Choo heels finished off her stunning look, which saw her top the best-dressed lists despite missing out on the Best Actress gong at the ceremony to Glenn Close for The Wife.

Gaga wasn’t the only star to showcase her cleavage in a sexy plunging outfit for the awards. Margot Robbie looked incredible in her white and gold Chanel number, which highlighted her slender figure in all the right places, Catherine Zeta-Jones opted for a gorgeous navy blue Zuhair Murad gown, with a daringly low neckline and cinched-in waist, while Robin Wright left little to the imagination in her slinky black Oscar de la Renta dress.

Other outstanding looks on the silver carpet included Lupita Nyong’o’s black and silver Vera Wang ensemble, and Sophia Bush’s polka dot Monique Lhuillier dress, which came complete with a matching cape. Amy Adams was as elegant as ever in her black strapless Celine dress, which featured ruffle detailing on the waist to highlight her hourglass figure, while Emily Blunt courted attention in a bubblegum pink Michael Kors custom gown. Emma Stone went against the grain as she shunned a red carpet gown in favour of a gold top and tailored black high-waisted trousers, a look she’s perfected in the past, as Black-ish star Yara Shahidi also hit headlines thanks to her sequinned Fendi Couture jumpsuit, which featured a net overlay.
