Kumail Nanjiani took Bollywood dance lessons to prepare for his role in Marvel’s superhero movie Eternals.

The 42-year-old stars alongside Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden and Kit Harington in the upcoming comic book adaptation, which focuses on the Eternals, a group of immortal aliens who have been living on Earth for more than 7,000 years.

In a recent interview on Deadline’s New Hollywood podcast, Kumail revealed that he took Bollywood dance lessons to prepare for a huge scene in the upcoming movie which involves his character, Kingo, strutting his stuff.

“A lot of it takes place in the present day,” he explained. “My character, for instance, is like ‘OK we’re supposed to keep a low profile, no one should know.’ So I become a Bollywood movie star, that’s my secret identity.”

“We’re supposed to keep quiet and I’ve become the biggest Bollywood movie star,” Kumail laughed, before adding that he had to undergo tough training for the Bollywood number alongside more than 50 South Asian dancers.

“I was like, we went from, like, none of us, to so many in one scene!” he joked. “I took months of Bollywood dance classes to prepare for that. It’s really a workout… and you know, there’s like 52 dancers, and 51 of them are professional dancers, and then there’s me!”

The Pakistani-American star hit the headlines last year when he revealed the new ripped physique he achieved through training for the upcoming superhero movie.

Eternals is set to be released in November.

Salma Hayek has clapped back at a troll who criticised her for having “too much Botox”.

The Frida actress shared a snap of herself by the beach on her Instagram page on Tuesday, with the image showing her looking radiant as her hair blew in the wind.

However, one of her followers seemed to take issue with her appearance and wrote in the comments: “Too much Botox :(. Not needed Salma!”

Salma was quick to respond, firing back with the tongue-in-cheek response: “I don’t have Botox. But thank you for the advice because I was thinking maybe it’s time.”

The star previously revealed she thought it might be fun to experiment with Botox and lip injections for her movie Like a Boss, in which she plays wealthy cosmetic mogul Claire Luna, but quickly decided that was a bad idea.

“First, I wanted to do Botox and inject my lips, which I’ve never done,” she said in an interview with InStyle magazine in December, explaining that because of a back-to-back shooting schedule, she wasn’t allowed to get Botox injections, so opted for fillers instead.

Heading to her friend, dermatologist Dr. Maurice Dray, Salma confessed she was unaware of how much the procedure would hurt.

“My friend Dr. Dray said, ‘I don’t know if you’re going to be happy because it’s going to hurt super bad.’ I said, ‘Well, let’s give it a try.’ He put the first needle in my mouth, and I immediately said, ‘No! Forget it! I’m done!'” the 53-year-old laughed.

After backing out of the fillers, Salma wore prosthetics to play her larger-than-life character, with her adding, “So instead it became, ‘How do I make it look like I have lip injections?’ And we got these huge teeth.”

Haaz Sleiman has recalled how everyone cried on the set of new superhero film Eternals after he filmed a gay kiss scene.

The upcoming blockbuster, which focuses on a race of immortal beings created by the Celestials, will not only feature the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first same-sex kiss, but two of the characters will be in an openly queer relationship.

Sleiman plays a supporting cast member in the movie, who is married to Brian Tyree Henry’s immortal hero Phastos, and the couple have a child together.

He discussed the groundbreaking move by Marvel producers in an interview with NewNowNext and noted he wants audiences to understand his character’s “beautiful and loving” relationship with the first-ever gay superhero.

“It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss. Everyone cried on set. For me, it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be,” the 43-year-old explained. “Brian Tyree Henry is such a tremendous actor and brought so much beauty into this part, and at one point I saw a child in his eyes, and I think it’s important for the world to be reminded that we, in the queer community, were all children at one point.

“We forget that because we’re always depicted as sexual or rebellious; we forget to connect on that human part.”

Eternals, which takes place after the devastating events of last year’s Avengers: Endgame, will see the immortal beings uniting to defend Earth from the Deviants.

The comic book flick, also starring Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani and Kit Harington, is scheduled to hit cinemas in November.

Tiffany Haddish invited Rose Byrne for drinks so they could establish a friendship like their characters in Like a Boss.

In the new comedy, Haddish and Byrne play Mia and Mel, who have been best friends for two decades and are co-founders of a beauty brand.

When the Girls Trip star got the Like a Boss script and learned she might be playing the Australian actress’s best friend, she decided to reach out and invite her for drinks so she could see if they had the chemistry required to convincingly play longtime pals.

“We hung out for four hours,” the comedienne told InStyle magazine. “We’re sitting, we’re drinking, we’re eating, we’re laughing. Having so much fun. We just instantly connected. I was like, ‘Girl, I think we should walk down the street and see a psychic to see if we were sisters or cousins in a past life.’”

But the Bridesmaids actress admitted she was nervous to meet Haddish because she feared they might not get on as well as they needed to.

“I was so nervous,” she shared. “The most important part of the movie is that we’re besties and have that connection. And we’re so different — but we figured out that we have so many things in common. We’re exactly 5 feet 6 and a half, have really small ears, were born in 1979…”

Mel and Mia’s friendship is tested when Claire Luna, played by Salma Hayek, invests in their small company, and the Mexican actress couldn’t help but gush about her co-stars.

“The three of us were very different from each other, and that makes for a richer experience,” she said. “I just fell in love with them.”

Salma Hayek has thanked Renee Zellweger for saving her from an epic wardrobe malfunction hours before the 2003 Academy Awards.

The 53-year-old recalled the embarrassing incident while presenting the Judy star with the Best Actress award at the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York on Wednesday.

Back in 2003, both women were up for the Academy Award for Best Actress – Zellweger for her role as Roxie Hart in Chicago, and Hayek for her portrayal of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in the biopic Frida. While the pair eventually lost out to Nicole Kidman for her stellar turn as Virginia Woolf in The Hours, the women were supportive of one another behind-the-scenes in the run-up to the prestigious ceremony.

“Even the night before when my big butt exploded the seams of my Oscar dress and I had no dress for the Oscars, she ended up giving me one of her dresses that, thank God, was wide here (pointing to her behind) and stretchy here (gesturing to her breasts). That’s what I wore for that night,” Hayek said of the Carolina Herrera gown she eventually sported to the event, according to People.

The gown featured a black embellished lace bodice and a white A-line skirt, while Zellweger wore a scarlet red embellished gown by the same designer.

“I really wish that they would have a tie so that we could both win but we both lost,” Hayek later said of them missing out on an Oscar to Kidman.

Salma Hayek was tempted to get lip fillers to play a larger-than-life beauty entrepreneur in her new movie, Like a Boss.

The actress wanted to go all out with her portrayal of Claire Luna, who offers to buy a beauty company run by Mia and Mel, as played by Rose Byrne and Tiffany Haddish in the film.

Wanting to impress director Miguel Arteta with her commitment to the role, Salma has now revealed she went to the extremes with her character preparation.

“First, I wanted to do Botox and inject my lips, which I’ve never done,” she said in an interview with InStyle magazine, explaining that because of a back-to-back shooting schedule, she wasn’t allowed to get Botox injections, so opted for fillers instead.

Heading to her friend, dermatologist Dr. Maurice Dray, Salma confessed she was unaware of how much the procedure would hurt.

After backing out of the fillers, Salma wore prosthetics instead.

“So instead it became, ‘How do I make it look like I have lip injections?’ And we got these huge teeth,” she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, the mother-of-one revealed that she is fully embracing getting older and has her mother and grandmother to thank for her no-nonsense approach to ageing.

“My mother always demonstrated the importance of ageing gracefully. I never saw her or my grandmother being afraid of getting old. And so, I don’t have that fear,” Salma shared.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige: ‘Martin Scorsese criticism won’t alter way we make movies’

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has insisted Martin Scorsese’s criticism of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) won’t affect the studio’s output.

The Irishman director sparked a huge backlash from Marvel fans and stars such as Robert Downey, Jr. and Mark Ruffalo when he called the movies “not cinema” in a recent interview with Britain’s Empire magazine.

Scorsese addressed the controversy in an essay for The New York Times last week, claiming he did not want to attack the artistry of those involved but emphasised that such blockbusters are not to his taste.

Marvel Studios president Feige opened up about the controversy in an interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast on Sunday and insisted the veteran filmmaker is “entitled to his opinion” but described his remarks as “unfortunate”.

“I think it’s unfortunate. I think myself and everyone who works on these movies loves cinema, loves movies, loves going to the movies, loves to watch a communal experience in a movie theatre full of people,” he said. “Everybody has a different definition of cinema. Everybody has a different definition of art. Everybody has a different definition of risk. Some people don’t think it’s cinema. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Everyone is entitled to repeat that opinion. Everyone is entitled to write op-eds about that opinion… I look forward to what will happen next. But in the meantime, we’re going to keep making movies.”

Addressing Scorsese’s comment that “nothing is at risk” in Marvel films, Feige noted that the studio killed off half their cast in Avengers: Infinity War – although they were largely brought back in the follow-up, Endgame.

He also stated that The Eternals, the upcoming movie starring Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, was a big risk.

“It is a very big movie. It is a very expensive movie… That’s a risk if I’ve ever heard one,” the producer commented.

Naomi Campbell closed Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2020 Paris Fashion Week show on Tuesday night.

The iconic supermodel wowed the crowd, which included models Kate Moss, Eva Herzigova, Cindy Crawford, and Amber Valletta as well as celebrities like Salma Hayek, Rami Malek, Andie MacDowell, and Ezra Miller, as she closed creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s latest presentation.

She strutted down the long runway in front of the Eiffel Tower wearing a black sequinned blazer jacket and matching trousers – a nod to the French fashion house’s famous Le Smoking suit – and black pointed ankle strap pumps with gold tips.

The 49-year-old shared footage of herself walking in the shimmering suit and wrote on Instagram, “Closing @ysl Spring Summer 2020 tonight was an honour! Thank you @anthonyvaccarello & @pg_dmcasting.”

Naomi had hinted at her appearance earlier in the day by sharing throwback footage of herself walking the YSL runway for the Couture Spring 2002 show and another snap of herself on the runway with Yves Saint Laurent himself.

“Mr. Yves Saint Laurent, you believed in me and stood by my side when I needed it most! Grateful for you and for all the memories we’ve made together over the years. Kind-hearted, creative genius and fashion visionary! We miss you dearly,” she wrote in the caption.

The show marked Naomi’s first appearance for a fashion house for spring/summer 2020. Earlier this month, she walked the runway for her annual charity event, Fashion for Relief, during London Fashion Week.

For his spring/summer 2020 collection, Vaccarello channelled rocker chic, festival style, and bohemian looks, with the collection featuring gold paisley embroidered dresses, chiffon blouses, and peasant-style smocks.

The models, which included Kaia Gerber and Stella Tennant, also donned micro shorts, cut-off jeans, waistcoats, cowboy boots, and tuxedo ensembles.

Gemma Chan and Barry Keoghan are reportedly in talks to join Marvel’s The Eternals.

According to Variety, the Crazy Rich Asians star will join the star-studded cast which includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani.

This isn’t the first Marvel movie for British actress Chan, who played Minn-Erva in this year’s Captain Marvel, alongside Brie Larson and Jude Law. It is not known if the 36-year-old will reprise the role or play a different character in The Eternals.

Keoghan, who shot to fame in Christopher Nolan’s war epic Dunkirk, is also set to feature in the superhero movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 26-year-old Irishman was recently seen in HBO’s critically-acclaimed series Chernobyl and Yorgos Lanthimos’ thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and has just wrapped filming on fantasy movie Green Knight.

At San Diego Comic-Con last month, it was announced that Oscar winner Jolie would play Thena, Madden will be playing Ikaris and Hayek will play Ajak, the mother of the Eternals.

Chloe Zhao is directing the project, based on the 1976 comic book created by Jack Kirby, while Matthew and Ryan Firpo have penned the script, and Marvel boss Kevin Feige is producing.

It is thought the film will follow the adventures of the super-powered and near-immortal beings as they battle against their monstrous enemies the Deviants, that were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials. Zhao previously said that the film will explore what it means to be human.

The Eternals is set to be released in November 2020.

Angelina Jolie’s children are thrilled that she’s going to be playing a “strong” superhero in Marvel’s The Eternals.

The actress and activist was unveiled as part of the cast of the superhero film during San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, alongside Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, and Kumail Nanjiani.

And the Oscar-winning star said her six children – Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – are excited to see their mum kicking butt in the highly-anticipated blockbuster.

“What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun,” Jolie told People.

Since landing the fierce role of Thena in the comic book adaptation, the 44-year-old has training with “everything from swords to ballet”, and she promised Marvel fans that she wouldn’t let them down.

“She’s a warrior. I’m going to have to work very hard to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Thena they deserve,” Jolie added.

The Maleficent star is also looking forward to teaming up with the film’s director, Chloe Zhao, as she thinks the Chinese-American filmmaker will make a “special” Marvel movie.

“With all the love and respect for the others and what makes them work, we hope to add something new,” Jolie gushed.

Hayek previously shared her excitement at being cast in The Eternals, and revealed her character Ajak had been changed from male to female.

“I’m so excited to join the Marvel family as Ajak, the mother of all Eternals. It used to be the father of all Eternals, but girls… this is OUR time!!!!” she shared on Instagram.

The Eternals will be released in November 2020.
