Gemma Chan and Barry Keoghan are reportedly in talks to join Marvel’s The Eternals.

According to Variety, the Crazy Rich Asians star will join the star-studded cast which includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani.

This isn’t the first Marvel movie for British actress Chan, who played Minn-Erva in this year’s Captain Marvel, alongside Brie Larson and Jude Law. It is not known if the 36-year-old will reprise the role or play a different character in The Eternals.

Keoghan, who shot to fame in Christopher Nolan’s war epic Dunkirk, is also set to feature in the superhero movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 26-year-old Irishman was recently seen in HBO’s critically-acclaimed series Chernobyl and Yorgos Lanthimos’ thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and has just wrapped filming on fantasy movie Green Knight.

At San Diego Comic-Con last month, it was announced that Oscar winner Jolie would play Thena, Madden will be playing Ikaris and Hayek will play Ajak, the mother of the Eternals.

Chloe Zhao is directing the project, based on the 1976 comic book created by Jack Kirby, while Matthew and Ryan Firpo have penned the script, and Marvel boss Kevin Feige is producing.

It is thought the film will follow the adventures of the super-powered and near-immortal beings as they battle against their monstrous enemies the Deviants, that were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials. Zhao previously said that the film will explore what it means to be human.

The Eternals is set to be released in November 2020.

Angelina Jolie’s children are thrilled that she’s going to be playing a “strong” superhero in Marvel’s The Eternals.

The actress and activist was unveiled as part of the cast of the superhero film during San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, alongside Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, and Kumail Nanjiani.

And the Oscar-winning star said her six children – Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – are excited to see their mum kicking butt in the highly-anticipated blockbuster.

“What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun,” Jolie told People.

Since landing the fierce role of Thena in the comic book adaptation, the 44-year-old has training with “everything from swords to ballet”, and she promised Marvel fans that she wouldn’t let them down.

“She’s a warrior. I’m going to have to work very hard to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Thena they deserve,” Jolie added.

The Maleficent star is also looking forward to teaming up with the film’s director, Chloe Zhao, as she thinks the Chinese-American filmmaker will make a “special” Marvel movie.

“With all the love and respect for the others and what makes them work, we hope to add something new,” Jolie gushed.

Hayek previously shared her excitement at being cast in The Eternals, and revealed her character Ajak had been changed from male to female.

“I’m so excited to join the Marvel family as Ajak, the mother of all Eternals. It used to be the father of all Eternals, but girls… this is OUR time!!!!” she shared on Instagram.

The Eternals will be released in November 2020.

Adut Akech only found out Meghan, Duchess of Sussex had chosen her for British Vogue’s Forces for Change issue when she recently received a surprise call from the royal.

The model, who was born in South Sudan and raised in Adelaide, Australia, appears on the September 2019 issue of British Vogue alongside 14 other trailblazing women including Adwoa Aboah, Christy Turlington, and Jane Fonda.

The issue, entitled Forces for Change, was guest-edited by the actress-turned-royal, who began working with editor-in-chief Edward Enninful in January, but Akech had no idea she was involved in the cover until she received a phone call from the Duchess herself last week.

“Feeling so extremely honoured and proud to be on the September 2019 Issue cover of @britishvogue #forcesofchange along side the most inspirational women I know,” the 19-year-old wrote on Instagram. “A few nights ago I got one of the best surprise, a phone call from The Duchess of Sussex herself to tell me she was the guest-editor of this issue. She told me that she finds me and my story so inspiring and those words I will never forget for the rest of my life. The thought of being chosen by HRH The Duchess of Sussex @sussexroyal and @edward_enninful as one the fifteenth amazing women looked as the #Forcesofchange completely blows my mind!

“Thank you @edward_enninful… and your entire team at British Vogue for recognising me. What this moment means to me I can’t explain in words.”

The cover stars, also including actresses Yara Shadidi, Salma Hayek and Laverne Cox, were photographed by Peter Lindbergh in studios in London and New York, with the exception of Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

According to Lindbergh, the Duchess instructed him over the phone to show the women as their natural selves.

“My instructions from the Duchess were clear: ‘I want to see freckles!'” he said. “Well, that was like running through open doors for me. I love freckles.”

Salma Hayek and Owen Wilson have signed on to headline upcoming sci-fi drama Bliss.

To be directed by Another Earth’s Mike Cahill, the Amazon Studios project has been described as a “mind-bending love story,” and will follow recently divorced Greg, as played by Wilson, as he meets the enchanting Isabel, as portrayed by Hayek, a woman who lives on the streets and is convinced that the polluted, broken world around them is not real.

Isabel believes they are living in an ugly, harsh world simulation inside of the beautiful, peaceful “real” world of bliss, and while Greg is doubtful at first, he eventually discovers there may be some truth to the wild conspiracy theory.

“Working with this brilliant cast is a dream come true,” said Cahill in a statement. “And we couldn’t be more thrilled to be making this with Amazon Studios. As the industry continues to evolve, Amazon proves to be taking the most exciting risks on films with ambitious artistic goals that also aim to reach wide audiences. I feel so grateful to have our film Bliss included among their next round of groundbreaking works.”

Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern is producing, with the company’s Lucas Smith serving as executive producer. Marsha Swinton will also executive produce, while Kasra Farahani will oversee production design, with Annie Bloom creating costumes.

In light of the announcement, Ted Hope, co-head of movies at Amazon Studios, commented that he was excited to see the final result.

“Mike Cahill is a brilliant storyteller gifted by a unique ability to craft the truly high-concept idea in a deeply soulful way that resonates with audiences. As a real fan of all his work, I am delighted that we can provide this opportunity for him to take his vision further than ever before,” he gushed. “We know our global customers will be excited to see what Mike and his team – Salma Hayek, Owen Wilson, and this fabulous cast and crew – can do with such complex, yet real characters in such an imaginative and thrilling world.”

Hayek will next be seen onscreen alongside Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne in comedy Limited Partners, set to be released early next year, while Wilson most recently starred in the adaptation of Raquel J. Palacio’s novel Wonder, with Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay.

Rose Byrne has overhauled her beauty kit and now only uses “clean” cosmetics.

The Australian actress, who is known for her flawless complexion and glossy brunette locks, shares sons Rocco, three, and Rafa, 19 months, with her actor partner Bobby Cannavale.

While Rose is “total beauty junkie,” she has recently cleaned out her bathroom cabinet and now sticks to using natural or sustainable products.

“I’m totally into clean products. I’m a big fan of True Botanicals and their Nutrient Mist, and I love Goop and Juice Beauty,” she told U.S. InStyle magazine. “But what’s particularly interesting when you’re breastfeeding or pregnant is what you’re allowed and not allowed to eat. It’s like, ‘Wow, why don’t I just do that all the time?'”

When off-duty, Rose keeps her make-up to a minimum, simply opting to groom her eyebrows and apply some colour to her lips. But she always wears sunscreen no matter where she goes.

“In Australia, we have one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. I remember talking about it in PE and health class. So growing up you’d slap on some sunscreen and slap on a hat. It’s so ingrained in me,” the 39-year-old stated.

Elsewhere in the chat, Rose spoke about her upcoming movie Limited Partners, in which she and Tiffany Haddish play friends who start a beauty company together. Salma Hayek also has a role in the flick, and the star looked to her castmate for all sorts of advice.

“Salma Hayek, who’s also in the movie, was particularly helpful because she’s had beauty lines. We’ve been friends, and I talked to her a lot about what’s involved and what it takes. It’s such a competitive landscape,” she added.

Kering is reaffirming its commitment to gender equality by expanding its Women in Motion programme at the Cannes Film Festival.

The fashion conglomerate, headed up by CEO Francois-Henri Pinault, rolled out the initiative in 2015 at the annual film celebration, with the aim to highlight the role of women in front and behind the camera.

Since then, the #MeToo movement has kicked off, as well as frank discussions about the pay disparity between men and women in Hollywood.

Pinault, who recently donated $113.1 million (£86.3 million) towards the rebuilding of Notre Dame Cathedral, has now committed to another five years of partnership with Cannes and revealed he is expanding the programme to include arts and culture.

“Since the #MeToo movement, and thanks to all the work done by active groups such as Time’s Up and 50/50 by 2020, the mindset is gradually changing, and steps are being taken,” Pinault said, reports Variety. “But as I’ve said in the past, we must never let our attention fade. First, because equality is still to be achieved — and there is quite some way to go. And second, because where progress is made, there is also inevitably push back — and we simply can’t afford going backwards.”

As part of Women in Motion, an annual award is given out at the festival gala dinner. This year’s recipient is Chinese-born Singaporean actress Gong Li. She follows in the footsteps of Jane Fonda, Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, Isabelle Huppert, and Patty Jenkins.

“I’m proud of the awareness it brought to the topic, even at a time when very few thought it was something that should be acted upon,” Pinault, married to Salma Hayek, continued. “And I’m impressed by all the people who raised their voices and took a stand.”

Cannes kicked off on Tuesday and runs until 25 May.

French fashion billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault has donated $113.1 million (£86.3 million) towards the rebuilding of Notre Dame Cathedral.

The Parisian landmark, which is over 850 years old, was left devastated after it was engulfed by flames on Monday evening (15Apr19), around 7pm local time.

In a statement given to the French newspaper Le Figaro, Pinault, who is the chairman and chief executive officer of Kering, said he hoped that the donation would help to “completely rebuild Notre Dame”.

“This tragedy strikes all the French and beyond all those who are attached to spiritual values. Faced with such a tragedy, everyone wants to revive this jewel of our heritage as quickly as possible,” the statement read. “My father (Francois Pinault) and I have decided to release from the funds of Artemis a sum of €100 million to participate in the effort that will be necessary for the complete reconstruction of Notre Dame.”

Kering owns a number of luxury fashion brands, such as Gucci, Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen, and Pinault, who is married to actress Salma Hayek, is also president chairman of Artemis, the holding company that controls the assets of the Pinault family.

Following Pinault’s pledge, fellow fashion mogul Bernard Arnault, France’s richest man, and his LVMH luxury goods group have donated a further $226 million (£173 million) to help rebuild the iconic landmark, which they called “a symbol of France, of its heritage and of French unity”.

In the aftermath of the blaze, French authorities have announced that Notre Dame has been “saved and preserved”.

“We can say that the structure is saved, notably the northern belfry,” said Deputy Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, according to Le Figaro.

Experts are now investigating how the blaze began, with initial reports suggesting it was linked to renovation work.

The cost of rebuilding the cathedral is expected to run into the billions of euros.

Cate Blanchett set the bar high for glamour on the BAFTAs red carpet as she unveiled her new brunette do to complement her jeweled black gown.

The Australian actress wowed in the custom Christopher Kane gown, which featured a huge gemstone necklace and a thigh-high split, to the prestigious awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday night (10Feb19). Later in the evening, she presented the Fellowship Award to Thelma Schoonmaker.

And the star wasn’t the only one leading the way in jewel tones on the chilly red carpet.

Amy Adams, who was up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Vice, stunned in a burgundy Prada gown with a jewel embellishment, and her hair scraped back into a sleek low ponytail.

One of the evening’s presenters, Lily Collins, wore a deep blue Givenchy creation for the occasion, which featured an intricately designed tulle skirt and a structured jacket.

The Crown star Claire Foy, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in First Man, looked regal in a fringed green Oscar De La Renta strapless gown. While she braved the cold weather in London, Claire joked to presenter Dermot O’Leary on the red carpet that she was “so hungry” before the awards ceremony.

Monochrome was another huge trend on the BAFTAs red carpet, with Best Actress winner Olivia Colman leading the charge in her black and white Emilia Wickstead custom creation.

Rachel Weisz, Olivia’s co-star in The Favourite who scooped the Best Supporting Actress gong, was ethereal in a white Gucci tulle gown and Cartier diamond earrings, while the Duchess of Cambridge wore a one-shouldered Alexander McQueen creation with Jimmy Choo heels.

Salma Hayek, who was visibly emotional as she presented the Best Film award to friend Alfonso Cuaron, was chic in a black velvet floor-length dress by Gucci, complete with a jewel lizard brooch on her shoulder.

Best Actress nominees Glenn Close and Melissa McCarthy also got the black dress memo, while Viola Davis complemented her black and white Armani Prive dress with a huge bow.

Salma Hayek has proudly showed off her grey hairs in a relaxed selfie snap.

The Mexican actress, known for her flowing brunette locks and flawless complexion, always turns heads, whether she is posing on the red carpet or running errands while off-duty.

However, Salma has now taken to Instagram to upload a candid photo showing her gazing into the lens of a camera with no make-up on and several silver hairs framing her face.

“#proud of my white hair. Orgullosa de mis canas. #hair,” the 52-year-old wrote alongside the picture on Sunday (03Feb19).

A number of Salma’s celebrity pals were quick to comment on the lovely photo, with Jessica Simpson writing, “Gorgeous lady,” and musician Lenny Kravitz noting, “You are stunning.”

Some of the Beatriz at Dinner star’s eight million Instagram followers praised her for displaying her natural hair too, with one fan stating, “Looking fab, the grey hairs are a sign of a life lived to the full,” while another described her white hairs as “wisdom highlights”.

A third commented, “Proud of you for being an amazing representative of a strong Latina.”

Previously, Salma opened up about her hair and beauty regime in an interview with The New York Times and claimed that she tries to use only natural formulas or products from her Nuance cosmetics brand.

“At night I take off my make-up with coconut oil,” she shared. “Then I use rose water to take off the residuals. You can use a hot towel with the rose water – you put a wet towel in the microwave – to do a little steam. I’ll use the chamomile cleanser from Nuance. Then I splash with cold water.”
