Salma Hayek recently coloured her own hair at home in order to cover up her grey roots.

Earlier this week, the actress posted a candid before and after shot on Instagram, showing her fans and followers her silver-tinged locks which she had styled into a messy bun.

And the stunning “after” picture showcased Salma’s new at-home ‘do, with her sleek brunette hair given an overhaul with caramel-coloured highlights as well as a chic blowout.

While she didn’t share any details of how she coloured her hair, fans speculated that she had adhered to lockdown restrictions and performed a DIY dye job at home on her roots.

“In anticipation for reshoots, I finally had to do my roots. #roots,” the 53-year-old captioned the shot, as her fans and celebrity friends clamoured to compliment the Frida star in the comments.

“You’re so freakin beautiful!!!” Marion Cotillard wrote, prompting Salma to reply: “Look who’s talking. One of the most beautiful and talented women in the (world).”

She previously shared a make-up free selfie, and managed to hide her grey roots with the leaves from a perfectly placed tree in her garden.

Salma finished shooting three movies before Hollywood went into lockdown due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, including Marvel’s star-studded superhero blockbuster The Eternals, and sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. Both features are due to hit cinemas next year.

Salma Hayek used her friends as “clients” when mastering her make-up skills as a teenager.

The actress appears barefaced in a photoshoot for People magazine’s 2020 Beautiful Issue, with the publication also featuring Rita Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sarah Paulson.

Opening up about her lifelong love of cosmetics, Salma explained that even in her early teenage years, she used to sneak behind her parents’ backs and experiment with products.

“I started wearing make-up at 14 but tried to pretend that I wasn’t wearing it because I was not allowed,” the Frida star recalled. “I would clean the brush of the mascara and very lightly pass it over my lashes, I would put some sheer lipsticks on and then dab it off and rub it on my cheeks. Always making sure there was no glitter in it.

“I actually started putting make-up on others when I was 13. I had a lot of ‘clients’… I have to say, I was quite good.”

However, Salma admitted that, over the years, she’s laid off the products a little – and it’s helped her to love herself for who she really is.

“When I look at pictures of me in my 30 or in my 40s, I see myself more beautiful than I saw myself at the time,” the 53-year-old mused. “I used to criticise myself so much. Now when I look in the mirror and there are things that I don’t see, I think about how much I’m going to like me in 10 years.”

Now, Salma enjoys the “sense of just being present without needing to impress anyone”.

Rita Wilson has posed barefaced for People magazine’s 2020 The Beautiful Issue.

Alongside all-natural images of herself with glowing, cosmetics-free skin, the actress/singer spoke to the publication about how she has embraced a simpler beauty regime since recovering from the coronavirus.

Back in March, Wilson suffered from a severe case of Covid-19 while travelling in Australia with her husband Tom Hanks, with the couple forced to quarantine for two weeks before returning home to Los Angeles.

“I love going to bed at night and not having to do a whole routine of taking off eye make-up with a remover and scrub,” she mused. “It’s a little bit easier just getting into bed… I wash my face and I put on whatever moisturiser is near me.”

The Mamma Mia! producer went on to note that she didn’t wear much make-up growing up as her mother didn’t tend to.

“I got really used to her face without make-up. And I think that there’s something beautiful about that,” the 63-year-old reflected. “Really if nobody wore make-up then we’d all be in the same world.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Wilson said the coronavirus crisis had opened her eyes to new perspectives: “The things that we have associated before with beauty, which are sometimes the superficial things, those will always be there. But I think there’s something about seeing the beauty in the everyday occurrences that you may not have paid attention to before.”

Salma Hayek, Sarah Paulson, and Gwyneth Paltrow also appear make-up-free in People magazine’s The Beautiful Issue.

Alexa Chung has treated her social media followers to a star-studded throwback picture from the 2011 Met Gala.

The fashion designer and Next in Fashion host shared the star-studded snap from the prestigious event, letting her followers see the candid snap she took of Yoko Ono, Rihanna, Salma Hayek, Lauren Hutton, and Stella McCartney in the bathroom at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“Ancient maybe even Blackberry photo of a Met Gala bathroom scene,” the 36-year-old captioned the post. “Yoko, Rihanna, Stella, Salma, Lauren. Solid line up.”

In the photo, the Umbrella hitmaker can be seen watching designer McCartney adjusting her black one-sleeved gown, which had a see-through lace side panel, as philanthropist and activist Ono talks while wearing custom Karl Lagerfeld.

Meanwhile, iconic supermodel Hutton can be seen rocking a Giorgio Armani ensemble and taking a drag of her cigarette, while Hayek looks directly into the camera wearing a nude Alexander McQueen gown.

Chung herself wore a short, sheer silver Christopher Kane yoke dress teamed with a matching clutch and black platform heels.

“Put this in the history books,” one Instagram commented on the snap, while another joked, “Somebody hang this in a museum.”

The model hasn’t been the only one to take pictures in the bathroom at the prestigious fashion event. At the time, ethical fashion campaigner Livia Firth also shared similar snaps from the toilets of the Met Gala, which featured Rihanna, Ono, McCartney, Hayek, Hutton, and British fashion journalist Hilary Alexander.

The 2020 Met Gala, which was due to take place in May, has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Salma Hayek decided to star in Marvel’s Eternals after learning Chloe Zhao was attached to direct.

The Frida actress will portray spiritual leader Ajak in the superhero upcoming flick, which follows on from the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Explaining why she decided to sign on for a Marvel Studios project in a recent interview for Total Film magazine, Hayek noted that filmmaker Zhao was a big part of the reason.

“The one thing that excited me the most (about Eternals) was the director,” she told the publication. “(Zhao) is amazing. Did you see her first movie? The Rider? I was blown away.”

Hayek is not alone in her respect for the up-and-coming Chinese director, with contemporary western The Rider winning acclaim at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and landing a mention on former U.S. President Barack Obama’s list of favourite films for 2018.

In addition to getting to work with Zhao and play a superhero in Eternals, the star is also excited to be working alongside an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, Angelina Jolie, and Kit Harington.

Describing the group as a bunch of “misfits”, Hayek proceeded to joke: “All of them are people you would never have imagined. Except for Angelina (Jolie). Angelina – she was born to be a superhero!”

Eternals is set to be released in February 2021.

Kumail Nanjiani took Bollywood dance lessons to prepare for his role in Marvel’s superhero movie Eternals.

The 42-year-old stars alongside Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden and Kit Harington in the upcoming comic book adaptation, which focuses on the Eternals, a group of immortal aliens who have been living on Earth for more than 7,000 years.

In a recent interview on Deadline’s New Hollywood podcast, Kumail revealed that he took Bollywood dance lessons to prepare for a huge scene in the upcoming movie which involves his character, Kingo, strutting his stuff.

“A lot of it takes place in the present day,” he explained. “My character, for instance, is like ‘OK we’re supposed to keep a low profile, no one should know.’ So I become a Bollywood movie star, that’s my secret identity.”

“We’re supposed to keep quiet and I’ve become the biggest Bollywood movie star,” Kumail laughed, before adding that he had to undergo tough training for the Bollywood number alongside more than 50 South Asian dancers.

“I was like, we went from, like, none of us, to so many in one scene!” he joked. “I took months of Bollywood dance classes to prepare for that. It’s really a workout… and you know, there’s like 52 dancers, and 51 of them are professional dancers, and then there’s me!”

The Pakistani-American star hit the headlines last year when he revealed the new ripped physique he achieved through training for the upcoming superhero movie.

Eternals is set to be released in November.

Salma Hayek has clapped back at a troll who criticised her for having “too much Botox”.

The Frida actress shared a snap of herself by the beach on her Instagram page on Tuesday, with the image showing her looking radiant as her hair blew in the wind.

However, one of her followers seemed to take issue with her appearance and wrote in the comments: “Too much Botox :(. Not needed Salma!”

Salma was quick to respond, firing back with the tongue-in-cheek response: “I don’t have Botox. But thank you for the advice because I was thinking maybe it’s time.”

The star previously revealed she thought it might be fun to experiment with Botox and lip injections for her movie Like a Boss, in which she plays wealthy cosmetic mogul Claire Luna, but quickly decided that was a bad idea.

“First, I wanted to do Botox and inject my lips, which I’ve never done,” she said in an interview with InStyle magazine in December, explaining that because of a back-to-back shooting schedule, she wasn’t allowed to get Botox injections, so opted for fillers instead.

Heading to her friend, dermatologist Dr. Maurice Dray, Salma confessed she was unaware of how much the procedure would hurt.

“My friend Dr. Dray said, ‘I don’t know if you’re going to be happy because it’s going to hurt super bad.’ I said, ‘Well, let’s give it a try.’ He put the first needle in my mouth, and I immediately said, ‘No! Forget it! I’m done!'” the 53-year-old laughed.

After backing out of the fillers, Salma wore prosthetics to play her larger-than-life character, with her adding, “So instead it became, ‘How do I make it look like I have lip injections?’ And we got these huge teeth.”

Haaz Sleiman has recalled how everyone cried on the set of new superhero film Eternals after he filmed a gay kiss scene.

The upcoming blockbuster, which focuses on a race of immortal beings created by the Celestials, will not only feature the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first same-sex kiss, but two of the characters will be in an openly queer relationship.

Sleiman plays a supporting cast member in the movie, who is married to Brian Tyree Henry’s immortal hero Phastos, and the couple have a child together.

He discussed the groundbreaking move by Marvel producers in an interview with NewNowNext and noted he wants audiences to understand his character’s “beautiful and loving” relationship with the first-ever gay superhero.

“It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss. Everyone cried on set. For me, it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be,” the 43-year-old explained. “Brian Tyree Henry is such a tremendous actor and brought so much beauty into this part, and at one point I saw a child in his eyes, and I think it’s important for the world to be reminded that we, in the queer community, were all children at one point.

“We forget that because we’re always depicted as sexual or rebellious; we forget to connect on that human part.”

Eternals, which takes place after the devastating events of last year’s Avengers: Endgame, will see the immortal beings uniting to defend Earth from the Deviants.

The comic book flick, also starring Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani and Kit Harington, is scheduled to hit cinemas in November.

Tiffany Haddish invited Rose Byrne for drinks so they could establish a friendship like their characters in Like a Boss.

In the new comedy, Haddish and Byrne play Mia and Mel, who have been best friends for two decades and are co-founders of a beauty brand.

When the Girls Trip star got the Like a Boss script and learned she might be playing the Australian actress’s best friend, she decided to reach out and invite her for drinks so she could see if they had the chemistry required to convincingly play longtime pals.

“We hung out for four hours,” the comedienne told InStyle magazine. “We’re sitting, we’re drinking, we’re eating, we’re laughing. Having so much fun. We just instantly connected. I was like, ‘Girl, I think we should walk down the street and see a psychic to see if we were sisters or cousins in a past life.’”

But the Bridesmaids actress admitted she was nervous to meet Haddish because she feared they might not get on as well as they needed to.

“I was so nervous,” she shared. “The most important part of the movie is that we’re besties and have that connection. And we’re so different — but we figured out that we have so many things in common. We’re exactly 5 feet 6 and a half, have really small ears, were born in 1979…”

Mel and Mia’s friendship is tested when Claire Luna, played by Salma Hayek, invests in their small company, and the Mexican actress couldn’t help but gush about her co-stars.

“The three of us were very different from each other, and that makes for a richer experience,” she said. “I just fell in love with them.”
