Debra Messing is much happier now she’s stopped focusing on her looks.

The 51-year-old actress candidly discussed her feelings on beauty and ageing in an op-ed for InStyle magazine in which the Will & Grace star shared that she’s finally stopped trying to change herself to fit in.

“At this point, I’m interested only in being the best version of myself. I’m not trying to change in order to fit some idea of what beautiful is,” Debra wrote, adding that she “never felt sexy enough” when she was in her 30s.

However, two decades later, she’s fully accepting herself and is trying to ignore the high beauty standards that are forced upon women.

“One of the greatest gifts of ageing is recognising the uniqueness of your own beauty. Any time spent thinking you’re less than someone else physically is just wasted time,” she explained. “We do, however, talk about it endlessly in our culture: how to live a healthy life, how to look 30 if you’re 40, which lotions or lasers work. It’s so much about the external, and as a woman, it’s exhausting.”

Elsewhere in the op-ed, the Smash star admitted she has found the confidence to be assertive and to think about what she wants in her life.

“I’m at a place where I understand it’s important to have a balanced life, and I’m willing to say no to things that I was too scared to say no to in my 30s. I’m a fully formed woman who knows who she is and what matters to her. And what really matters to me is that I’m young at heart,” she stated.

Katharine McPhee recently gave her husband David Foster’s hair a trim during an Instagram Live session.

The couple has been staging daily mini-concerts on social media while in self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic, and on Wednesday, the Smash star revealed she had stepped up and become a barber to give the veteran musician a much-needed tidy-up.

After introducing viewers to the live stream, McPhee recapped what they had been up to since their last online gig.

“The update is I cut your hair,” she said as she turned to Foster, and then pulled out a pair of scissors to trim his locks a little further.

“She did an amazing job – look at this!” Foster gushed, as McPhee explained, “It’s just a minor adjustment.”

“She did a great, great job,” the 70-year old-continued. “My hair was getting so long. I was starting to look like Einstein!”

McPhee and Foster aren’t the only celebrities giving each other at-home haircuts. Gwen Stefani recently helped style her boyfriend Blake Shelton’s new mullet by shaving stripes into the side of his head, while Ryan Reynolds revealed his wife Blake Lively was going to cut his hair shortly.

However, he joked that he wasn’t too thrilled about the idea since her first attempt wasn’t a success.

“She’s done this once before. It took two and a half hours. And then at the end, it looked like she had done the whole thing using only a lighter or like those gloves that are made of sandpaper,” the 43-year-old deadpanned. “It would have been a little faster and more efficient if she’d just wore it down, if she’d just rubbed my head until the hair just disappeared.”

Pink also realised the downsides of DIY hairstyling after she gave herself an uneven buzz cut.

Zac Posen has teased the full unveiling of Katharine McPhee’s “pure magic” wedding dress.

The actress/singer wed music producer David Foster at the Church of Saint Yeghiche in South Kensington, London on Friday, and the 35-year-old walked down the aisle in a custom dress by the New York-based designer.

After exchanging vows, McPhee posted a snap to her Instagram Stories of herself riding in the car with her mother on her way to the ceremony and gave fans a sneak peek at the creation.

The white gown featured layers of tulle that gathered together at the front to create a sweetheart neckline, with the bride wearing a matching white veil and her hair scraped back into a chic updo.

“Yesterday was absolute pure magic. A big congratulations to the stunning bride @katharinemcphee and debonair groom @davidfoster,” Posen began his post on Instagram, alongside a picture of him helping the Smash star out of her wedding car with netting to disguise her face.

“A few takeaways from yesterday: firstly magic takes lots of planning and trust, thank you to the talented stylist @jordiefos (Jordan Foster) and the #zacposen #atelier!! Secondly, nothing like the #London paparazzi, wow are they are quick and crafty (we literally had the bride outside and covered for less than 3 seconds),” the 38-year-old continued, before teasing: “And third and lastly, for the full real photos etc of #KatharineMcPhee and her gowns you will all have to be patient, good things are worth waiting for.”

McPhee was spotted leaving her wedding reception with groom David, 69, later on Friday while wearing a short blue strapless gown, which is believed to have also been designed by Posen.

Singer/actress Katharine McPhee has recruited her fiance David Foster’s stylist daughter to help her pick out the perfect wedding dress.

The former Smash star gave fans a sneak peek at one of the gowns she tried on during a dress fitting session on Tuesday (15Jan19), and revealed she had taken her future stepdaughter-in-law, Jordan Foster, with her for a little professional advice.

In the photo posted on Instagram, the bride-to-be models a white strappy, backless, floor-length design, complete with a long veil.

“Wedding dress fittings today with @jordiefos! It was such a happy day,” she gushed in the caption.

She went on to assure followers it wasn’t her final pick, adding, “(It’s not the dress, but just wanted to share)”.

Katharine also shared the same image on Twitter, writing, “(don’t let david see this),” but it appears her fiance had already caught sight of the dress, as he ‘liked’ the snap on Instagram.

The veteran songwriter wasn’t the only member of the Foster family to give the gown the thumbs up – one of his other daughters, writer Erin Foster, also expressed her approval in the comments section.

“So cuuuuute (sic),” she wrote.

Katharine, 34, later admitted she had been rather emotional trying on gowns for her big day, after one follower confessed to shedding a tear at the sweet shot.

“I cried today too!” she replied.

Katherine and David, who became engaged in July (18), have yet to reveal their wedding date, but it won’t be their first trip down the aisle. The bride-to-be was previously married to Nick Cokas from 2008 to 2016, while David, 69, has four ex-wives. His most recent union, to former model Yolanda Hadid, the mother of runway beauties Gigi and Bella Hadid, officially ended in 2017 after six years as husband and wife.
