Debra Messing refuses to pay full price when shopping for clothes.

The actress, perhaps best known for playing Grace Adler on NBC sitcom Will & Grace, always looks super chic on the red carpet in designer ensembles.

However, Debra has now shared that she never spends a lot on outfits for herself and always heads to the sale rack first when browsing in boutiques.

“Honestly, I rarely spend a lot on clothes because I refuse to pay full price,” she told U.S. InStyle. “I just won’t walk into a store and buy something full-priced anymore. That’s just a rule of mine, especially now that there are so many apps where designer brands are marked down quickly.”

Though Debra is opposed to spending large amounts on her wardrobe, she is more open to investing in accessories.

For instance, she will splash the cash when it comes to shoes and jewellery pieces that she knows she will wear for many years.

“I will splurge on shoes and jewellery. I save up for pieces of jewellery, actually, and I recently bought an emerald ring. It was a gift to myself, an early birthday present. It’s something that I’ve wanted forever, and I thought, ‘What am I waiting for? Am I waiting for a man to buy it for me?’ I realised how silly that was, so I bought it for myself,” the 49-year-old shared.

Thrifty Debra has acted as one of the faces of T.J. Maxx’s The Maxx You Project, which is aimed at bringing women together to empower one other about their unique fashion choices. And she explained that partnering with the U.S. discount retailer felt like a natural step as she has been shopping at their stores for years.

“I grew up shopping at T.J. Maxx in Rhode Island with my mother every other week,” she recalled. “We would go treasure hunting, and I was competitive about it. I always felt so excited when I found something that I loved.”

Actress Debra Messing is teaming up with bosses at U.S. discount retailer TJ Maxx to help women find their “individual” style.

The Will & Grace star is joining the The Maxx You Project, aimed at bringing women together to empower one other about their unique fashion choices.

Debra explains she jumped at the chance to work with executives at the company because she has been shopping at the stores since she was young.

“My mother took me to TJ Maxx every other week to scour the racks my entire childhood,” she says.

“When I heard they were doing The Maxx You project it just felt like the perfect marriage because it’s all about supporting and encouraging women’s individuality and this year, what’s most exciting to me, is that it’s now about embracing community in order to lift women up,” she adds.

As part of the campaign, which kicks off Tuesday (19Jun18), The Maxx You Project’s organisers are hosting workshops and a Facebook group to help women connect with each other and offer up encouraging solutions when it comes to finding their individuality.

“You’re bringing all of these women together to empower each other to co-create strategies so that you can progress more quickly for attaining your dreams,” the actress says. “It’s a multi-pronged initiative, which I think is really smart.”

“I really believe in the power of women and what women can do, when they get together and women can lift each other up in a way that nothing else can,” she continues.

Christian Siriano is partnering with TJ Maxx on a purse-friendly clothing, accessories and homeware collection.

The former Project Runway champion, who launched his mega-successful label on the back of the show in 2008, is one of the best-loved designers working in fashion, thanks to his size inclusive creations.

And now fashion fans with tighter budgets than Siriano’s celebrity clientele can get their hands on his work thanks to his new partnership.

“I love to have a balance. I think it’s very important. I think you can start one place at this fantasy dream world and you can take it in all directions,” the 32-year-old told philly.com. “We just started partnering with TJ Maxx, we are going to be doing clothes, home goods, accessories, rugs, pillows, dresses, tops. I’ve been doing Payless (discount footwear company) for almost 10 years now. Can you believe it? I put my shoes on the runway. I love pairing a $10,000 dress with a $20 shoe. That’s what fashion is. That’s what style is.”

Numerous stars showed off Siriano’s designs at the recent Tony Awards, including Laurie Metcalf, who scooped the Tony for Broadway production Three Tall Women, and stage star Laura Osnes.

Siriano himself was also recently honoured, making the 2018 Time 100 List.

“I mean, it’s crazy to be up there with amazing people like Oprah,” he exclaimed. “I feel really proud, like I’m helping change the industry and what their thoughts are on what’s beautiful in fashion. I hope other people follow. It feels good.”

Toni Braxton enjoys hunting through fashion boutiques for bargain buys.

The singer-songwriter first rose to fame when she released her self-titled debut studio album in 1993 and unveiled her eighth record, titled Sex & Cigarettes, on Friday (23Mar18).

While Toni has been stepping out in some glamorous garments as she attends events to promote her new music, she actually loves to scour out pieces in department stores.

“I have a TJ Maxx card,” she told Us Weekly, referring to the American chain store which offers up discounts on designer clothing and accessories. “I love browsing their runway collection and the designer handbags.”

At present, Toni is favouring a black leather tote with gold clasp that has enough room to carry all of her everyday necessities.

And she is never without her black Cartier purse, iPad, iPhone, Beats by Dre headphones, a lint roller, a pair of Ralph Lauren glasses, as well as a generous supply of wet wipes.

“When I travel, I have Wet Ones and Purell (hand sanitiser) because I’m a bit of a germaphobe. Everyone who knows me knows that I always have those on me,” the 50-year-old shared.

When it comes to her beauty kit, Toni also ensures she has several top products at her fingertips. The Breathe Again hitmaker is a big fan of MAC’s Studio Fix Powder Foundation and Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo, a classic red colour, as well as Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, but counts plasters as her number one essential purse essential.

“When a nail comes off, I cover it with a Band-Aid so people don’t notice. They just think I have a little cut. Sometimes I’ll have, like, three or four on, and people ask, ‘What happened!'” she smiled.
