Rose Byrne looks set to be joining Steve Carell in Jon Stewart’s new political satire, Irresistible.

Variety reported in October (18) that former The Daily Show host Stewart was eyeing up Carell for his new project, his first since 2014’s Rosewater. And now Collider reports Byrne is also joining the cast of Irresistible.

Sources tell the website that the film follows a slick Democratic strategist (Carell) who helps a retired veteran run for Mayor in a small, right-wing town in Wisconsin, which is a swing state. Byrne is close to finalising a deal to play Carell’s cut-throat Republican counterpart who campaigns on behalf of the local mayor.

Production is slated to kick off this spring, with Focus Features the likely contender to make it. Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment will be producing, along with Stewart, who is also writing the script.

It marks Stewart’s second foray into filmmaking. He handed over The Daily Show reigns to Trevor Noah in 2015, weeks before Rosewater premiered at the Telluride Film Festival but has been laying low on the Hollywood front ever since.

Talking about how Rosewater, a film about real-life Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari who was detained by Iranian forces and brutally interrogated, came about, Stewart previously revealed it was an “organic” process, rather than him purposefully seeking out a writing and directing career.

“Maziar would come through New York, and we would have breakfast and talk about writing his memoir,” he recalled. “We talked about how to make it into a film, but more as producers, and as we sent it around to various writers who were already more gainfully employed than how we could employ them… We just got frustrated that it was a year and a half and there was very little movement. That’s really what drove the initial impulse to write it. Directing grew out of becoming slightly territorial at that point.”

Spike Lee hid away in a corner backstage at the 2019 Oscars to scribble down an acceptance speech in case he emerged victorious for his work on BlacKkKlansman.

Comedian Trevor Noah, who was one of the guest presenters at Sunday’s (24Feb19) ceremony, took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo he had captured of the filmmaker sitting on a stool with a pen in his hand and a notepad on his lap.

In the accompanying caption, The Daily Show host explained why he had decided to document the scenario, which took place towards the beginning of the prizegiving, at which BlacKkKlansman was nominated six times.

“While walking around backstage, I noticed a small figure hunched in a corner writing something,” Trevor began. “I got closer and realized it was Spike Lee writing an acceptance speech for his Oscar nominations. I asked him if I could take this picture to remember the moment and he said yes and ‘I hope I get to use this’…”

“Well you got to use the speech @officialspikelee and it was a long time coming!” the TV star continued. “Ladies and gentlemen Oscar Award Winner- Spike Lee #Legend #Oscar #blackklansman”.

Lee was personally shortlisted for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, and he ended up striking gold for the latter, which marked the 61 year old’s first competitive Academy Award.

Indeed, viewers will remember how Lee pulled out his notes onstage as he picked up the honour, alongside co-writers Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, and Kevin Willmott, and read from his pre-prepared piece.

Lee had previously received an honorary Oscar at the 2015 Governors Awards.

Rapper A$AP Rocky turned a massive gash on his face into fashion inspiration by concealing the injury with a babushka.

The New York City native adopted the Russian headscarf on the red carpet for the The LACMA 2018 Art and Film Gala in November (18) and style critics went wild for the look, but the naturally chic hip hop star insists the accessory was born out of necessity.

“It was inspired by a situation I had where my face got cut, and I started walking around with a babushka to cover it,” he tells GQ magazine. “It was about last September (when I first started wearing them). It started with a yellow one when I was on Trevor Noah’s show (The Daily Show). I actually did a Vogue (magazine) shoot the day after I got my face slashed.”

“Honestly, it was inspired by (Little Rascals character) Alfalfa – you ever see the (TV show) Little Rascals, when he pretended to have a toothache? I kind of wanted to make it look like that. Basically on some s**t so in case Trevor Noah asked me, I was just gonna be like, ‘I have a toothache.'”

The handsome star’s face was scraped up when he took a nasty tumble in a scooter accident.

“I was riding a Razor scooter, I did a pop up wheelie and just ate s**t and I just had a f**king big gash on my face,” the Goldie hitmaker shared, revealing the injury was so bad he went under the knife to fix it.

“(I) had to get plastic surgery and here we are,” Rocky adds.

Karlie Kloss and her new husband Joshua Kushner are enjoying a honeymoon in South Africa.

The supermodel and the businessman got engaged in July (18), and wed in an intimate ceremony in Upstate New York in October.

While Karlie, 26, and Joshua, who is the younger brother of Jared Kushner – U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law – jetted off for a 48-hour “minimoon” following their nuptials, the couple has now travelled to South Africa for a romantic getaway.

In one picture posted on Instagram on Wednesday (26Dec18), Karlie is depicted standing in a swimming pool, while an elephant walks past in the background. Another snaps shows a lion yawning, while the star also uploaded a happy selfie of herself and her beau in what appears to be a safari park. Karlie didn’t add a caption, but simply added the honey and moon emojis to her post.

Meanwhile, in her Instagram Stories, the blonde beauty shared a short video showing her visiting some animals, including a family of elephants.

Elsewhere, Joshua, 33, has uploaded a snap of Karlie in a blue dress and straw hat during a walk.

“South Africa,” he wrote alongside the photo, adding giraffe, lion and rhinoceros emojis.

The post caught the attention of the pair’s celebrity fans, with model Gisele Bundchen commenting, “How fun! Enjoy!” and comedian Trevor Noah, a Johannesburg native, joking: “Please can you water my plants while you’re there?”

Even though new Project Runway host Karlie and Joshua are notoriously private, she did open up about her relationship shortly after announcing her engagement.

“The proposal was romantic and sweet. We spent the weekend in Upstate New York, just the two of us,” she shared in an interview for Vogue.com. “We’ve really grown together personally and professionally. Josh knows that I’m just a nerdy, curious human being. I think that’s why he loves me. We have each other’s back.”

Lupita Nyong’o has signed on to play comedian Trevor Noah’s mother in a big screen adaptation of his autobiography, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.

Trevor, the host of popular comedy programme The Daily Show, was born in Johannesburg in 1984 to a black mother, Patricia, and white father, Robert. His parents’ relationship was illegal under the country’s apartheid laws at the time and his 2016 book chronicled his difficult upbringing.

The tome also tells of Patricia’s tumultuous life, including a childhood spent in a hut with 14 occupants, and her recovery from being shot in the head by Trevor’s stepfather in 2009, while she was returning from church with her family.

As well as acting in the movie, Lupita will also join Trevor as a producer on the project.

“When I read @TrevorNoah’s ‘Born A Crime,’ I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation!” the actress captioned a photo of her posing alongside Trevor on her social media pages on Wednesday (21Feb18).

Trevor re-posted Lupita’s announcement and shared that he was “beyond excited” to be working alongside the Oscar winner.

“My mom is a powerful woman who could easily be one of the beautiful soldiers in Wakanda,” he wrote alongside his post, referring to the fictional East African nation setting of Lupita’s new superhero movie Black Panther. “So it’s beyond a perfect fit that she would be portrayed on the big screen by the radiant and regal Lupita Nyong’ o. I’m beyond excited.”

Trevor’s memoir spent 26 weeks on the bestseller list and also won the James Thurber Prize for American Humor as well as two NAACP Image Awards.

In addition to appearing in Trevor’s movie, Lupita is rumoured to have roles in the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot as well as Star Wars: Episode IX.

Tom Ford dressed his models in underwear and woolen socks to bring his fall 2018 men’s show to an end.

The designer debuted his latest collection during New York Fashion Week: Men’s on Tuesday night (06Feb18) and opted to take a less is more approach when it came to his grand finale on the runway.

His selection of models were clothed in statement underwear showcasing a range of materials and patterns, such as metallics and animal prints, which were paired with simple wool socks in black and various shades of nude.

Though the 56-year-old fashion mogul decided to ditch shoes as his show concluded, Ford started the show with an assembly of suede hybrid sneaker-loafers, finished with tassels and thick rubber soles, while other garments to grace the catwalk included metallic blazers, puffer jackets and plenty of eyewear.

Guests, including The Daily Show host Trevor Noah and Snoop Dogg’s model son Cordell Broadus, watched the style spectacle from the front row.

Before the show kicked off, Ford spoke to reporters about the lack of diversity when it comes to the body types of today’s fashion models, and defended his decision to consistently use thin fashion stars.

“There is a practical reason that most models are the same size, and that’s called a sample collection,” he told WWD. “You make a sample collection (according to) a standardised selection of measurements for models.

“I can’t, eight hours before the show when I’m in a fitting and I decide to use a certain girl, custom make an outfit for her. (My clothes) are all made in the same size.”
