Stephen King has clarified comments he made about the lack of diversity at the 2020 Academy Awards.

Earlier this month, the horror author, who can vote in three Oscars categories, waded in on the controversy over the lack of women and people of colour nominated this year, and faced backlash from the likes of Ava DuVernay for tweeting that he would never consider diversity in regards to art and only focused on quality.

Now, the author has seemingly backtracked on his comments, and in an op-ed for The Washington Post published on Monday, he insisted he didn’t intend to spark outrage.

“I stepped over one of those lines recently by saying something on Twitter that I mistakenly thought was noncontroversial: ‘I would never consider diversity in matters of art. Only quality. It seems to me that to do otherwise would be wrong’. The subject was the Academy Awards,” King began. “I also said, in essence, that those judging creative excellence should be blind to questions of race, gender or sexual orientation.”

He denied he meant movies focusing on diversity and inequality “cannot be works of creative genius,” and noted that DuVernay’s 2019 Netflix miniseries, When They See Us, was a “splendid case in point.”

“Judgments of creative excellence should be blind. But that would be the case in a perfect world, one where the game isn’t rigged in favor of the white folks,” he wrote. “Creative excellence comes from every walk, color, creed, gender and sexual orientation, and it’s made richer and bolder and more exciting by diversity, but it’s defined by being excellent. Judging anyone’s work by any other standard is insulting and — worse — it undermines those hard-won moments when excellence from a diverse source is rewarded (against, it seems, all the odds) by leaving such recognition vulnerable to being dismissed as politically correct.”

King also questioned whether voters had seen all the eligible films and wrote that he hoped the demographic of the Oscars voting pool would eventually catch up with today’s diverse society.

Pink has no plans to go under the knife as she gets older because she wants her children to know when she’s angry.

The singer-songwriter, real name Alecia Beth Moore, took to Twitter on Sunday to post a string of messages about the ageing process.

But while Pink sometimes feels “weird” about her changing appearance, she insisted that she has no desire to undergo cosmetic surgery in order to appear younger.

“Letter to self; Dear Me, you’re getting older. I see lines. Especially when you smile. Your nose is getting bigger. You look (and feel) weird as you get used to this new reality. But your nose looks like your kids’ and your face wrinkles where you laugh. And yeah you idiot… (you) smoked,” the 40-year-old wrote. “Every once in a while, you consider altering your face, and then you watch a show where you want to see what the person is feeling… and their face doesn’t move. I’m cannot get behind it. I just can’t.”

Pink went on to note that she wants her children, daughter Willow, eight, and three-year-old son Jameson, whom she shares with husband Carey Hart, to “know what I look like when I’m angry”.

To conclude, the What About Us hitmaker added that she is much more interested in her perfecting her acrobatic skills for her stage shows than worrying about what she looks like.

“I’m fortunate because I’ve never really depended on my looks. I’ve decided that my talent and my individuality is far more important than my face. So, get on board ’cause I am about to AGE THE OL FASHIONED WAY (in a tutu ruling s**t at 30 mph 100 ft in the air over 40) yasssssssss (sic),” she noted.

Jean Paul Gaultier will stage the last runway show of his career during the upcoming Paris Couture Week.

The legendary French designer announced his retirement plans in a statement posted to social media over the weekend.

“This show celebrating 50 years of my career will also be my last,” the 67-year-old wrote, referring to his haute couture presentation set to be held on Wednesday night. “But rest assured, haute couture will continue with a new concept.”

In an accompanying clip, Gaultier is seen pretending to speak to a journalist on the phone, giving them the “scoop” on his decision.

“I’m going to give you a scoop. This will be my last haute couture show. My last Gaultier Paris show. You have to come, you can’t miss that,” he joked. “But, but, but I assure you: Gaultier Paris will continue, haute couture will continue. I have a new concept; I’ll tell you about it later, I’ll tell you all the little secrets. But it is going to continue.”

Gaultier unveiled his first-ever collection back in 1976 and has since gone on to dress the likes of Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna with his avant-garde designs. He is also known for creating Madonna’s iconic conical bra back in the ’90s.

While Gaultier will still be involved in his high-end fashion and perfume businesses, he will take a step back from designing garments. The designer stopped making ready-to-wear clothes in 2015 in order to concentrate on haute couture.

Ariana Grande has pleaded with fans to give her a break after receiving criticism for always wearing “the same two outfits” in paparazzi photos.

In recent years, the 7 Rings hitmaker has become known for sporting ensembles comprised of baggy, oversized shirts and thigh-high boots when photographed out and about, with fans on social media recently claiming Ariana has “been wearing the same boots/ long shirt Combo for years”.

After picking up on the scrutiny, she took to her Twitter page to shut down the discussion, writing: “thank god i’m a singer then…”

“gimmeee a break (sic). i don’t like having my photo taken, i escape the paparazzi almost every time,” the 26-year-old continued. “i never post photos that aren’t on stage but s**t i promise i have cute a*s clothes.”

Ariana went on to insist that, while she knows her fans just want “the best” for her, she’s doing all she can to avoid scrutiny in her day-to-day life.

“i’m never even seen like ever i promise i look cute over here in my own world i haven’t even been able to put on a pair of f**kin boots lately because of the traumatic image i have in my head of these uh …. tik tok ‘performers’ (sic),” she added, referring to the short-form social media video platform.

Despite the star’s penchant for more relaxed looks, she previously told U.S. Vogue magazine she uses her stage costumes and trademark high ponytail to convey an “exaggerated version” of herself.

Zendaya had her breasts moulded for the stunning Tom Ford creation she wore to the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards.

The 23-year-old donned the $15,000 (£11,500) hot pink metallic breastplate from the designer’s spring 2020 collection for the ceremony on Sunday, and finished off the show-stopping look with a fuchsia skirt and her hair styled into waist-length braids.

The look caught the attention of her fans on social media, with one curious follower on Twitter quizzing the Euphoria star on how the bespoke piece was created.

“Did they mould that to your t**tles… asking for a friend,” the cheeky post read, with Zendaya quickly replying, “Yes. Lol.”

Her stylist, Law Roach, later pointed out the breastplate was a homage to the vintage pieces by Issey Miyake and Yves Saint Laurent, and shared a picture of his client rocking the red carpet.

“Warrior Woman… wearing @tomford,” Law captioned the snap, prompting his celebrity friends to heap praise on Zendaya’s look.

“Jesus Christ,” Ariana Grande commented. “Incredible Law.”

Tracee Ellis Ross simply left a series of fire emojis, while singer Jessie J, model Alton Mason, and RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage also showed their love for the unique outfit.

The Tom Ford piece was recently worn by Gwyneth Paltrow for the cover of the latest issue of U.S. Harper’s Bazaar magazine, and the Oscar winner took to social media to gush over her Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star too.

“Thank God I can say I have something in common with Zendaya,” she commented on a picture of the actress wearing the breastplate.

Kathy Griffin gave a sweet nod to her first date with new husband Randy Bick on their wedding day.

The 59-year-old tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend during a surprise New Year’s Eve ceremony, just minutes after she had announced their engagement on social media.

Kathy donned a white, short-sleeved Diane Von Furstenberg gown for the nuptials – which were officiated by Lily Tomlin – and she later revealed that the dress was actually the same one she wore on the couple’s first date back in 2011.

“This was our first formal date in September 2011! We are in the back of a limo provided by the one only @GloriaEstefan because her team arranged for me to surprise her as a backup ‘dancer’ when she performed at the Alma awards!” she wrote on Twitter, alongside a nine-year-old photo of her wearing the dress sitting alongside Randy in the limo.

She then explained that she had asked her new husband to pick out his favourite of her long dresses for their wedding, and he chose the elegant number.

“He picked out this dress and showed me this photo. Romance is hotttt again (sic),” Kathy added.

Meanwhile, the couple has also decided to shun wearing traditional wedding rings to symbolise their commitment to one another, simply because they dislike wearing them.

“Neither one of us like wearing rings ever. So we will never wear rings. Deal with it,” she told People.

Kathy and Randy began dating in 2011 after meeting at a food and wine festival, and briefly broke up in November 2018, before reconciling a few months later.

Jameela Jamil drew strength from the way Kelly Clarkson fought back against body-shaming critics to tackle her own weight-obsessed Twitter trolls.

The Good Place star served as a radio presenter in the U.K. prior to landing a role on the hit TV show, but working off-camera didn’t stop haters from attacking her appearance.

And Jameela said she looked to the Since U Been Gone hitmaker, who has struggled with her changing figure over the years, for inspiration about how to handle the rough period with grace.

“I remember you going through that (fat-shaming), and then very shortly afterwards, I gained a lot of weight back home in England,” she shared with Kelly on her self-titled U.S. talk show.

“I was a radio DJ, by the way, you couldn’t even see me; people just wanted to know I was thin over the airwaves!” Jameela exclaimed. “So I got nationally fat-shamed for six months in my own country, and it was your response to yours (tough time) that gave me the strength to get through mine.”

Back in 2017, Kelly was targeted by a troll on Twitter who told her: “You’re fat,” prompting her to reply, “And still f***king awesome.”

Jameela has since set up the body-positivity movement called I Weigh and has become a champion for body neutrality and equality for women on social media.

“It’s about getting away from thinking about your body, and instead thinking about the things in your life that you should be grateful for. Like, I weigh the sum of all my parts. You can’t measure my worth on a weighing scale. You can’t measure your own like that. It’s insane that we still do this to women in this day and age,” Jameela explained.

Betsey Johnson has confirmed her memoir will be released in April 2020.

The designer, who opened her first boutique in 1969, is known for her feminine and whimsical garments, as well as for doing cartwheels at her fashion shows.

Johnson announced that she was nearly ready to unveil her book back in October, and taking to Twitter recently, she shared that the memoir will hit shelves on 7 April.

“Can’t wait for you to read my memoir! It’s coming soon and I hope you all love it!” she wrote, adding a link to a website for pre-sales.

Simply titled BETSEY, Johnson’s memoir will delve into her childhood in Connecticut, her memories of the fashion scene in the ’60s, the ups and downs of her business, and the time she was forced to file for bankruptcy.

“Throughout her decades-long career, she’s taken pride in producing fun but rule-breaking clothing at an accessible price point. What they might not know is that she built an empire from scratch, and brought stretch clothing to the masses in the ’80s and ’90s,” a spokesperson for publishers Penguin Random House commented of the book.

The memoir, co-written with the 77-year-old’s longtime friend Mark Vitulano, will also share the fashion star’s thoughts on body image, love, divorce, men, and motherhood, as well as her health scares, including a battle with breast cancer and major heart surgery in April.

BETSEY will be illustrated with many of Johnson’s landmark clothes, fashion sketches, and personal photos.

Hayden Panettiere stunned fans with a dramatic new look as she returned to Twitter on Wednesday after a 10-month hiatus.

The 30-year-old actress, who hadn’t posted anything on Twitter since February, made her comeback to share a selfie of her makeover, showing fans that she had swapped her long blonde locks for a silver pixie cut with shaved sides.

“Channelling my inner #Kirby #Scream4 Thanks to my boys ⁦ @anthonyleonard,” Hayden wrote in the post, referencing her Scream 4 character Kirby Reed and tagging her hairdresser.

Following Hayden’s post, hairstylist Leonard Zagami, who was behind her new ‘do, told E! News that the former Heroes star was “looking for a radical change” so they “just went for it”.

“It’s a modern version of a classic pixie style with a little more of an edge,” he explained. “The colour is silver, but not grey. She had previously been going with a super sexy blonde… The cut was a collaborative idea. She has wanted to go short for a while, but she has always had a commitment with her work and wasn’t able to. Right now, she is free and said, let’s do it!”

The new look comes after a troubling year for Hayden. Her real estate agent boyfriend Brian Hickerson was arrested in May after an argument between the two at Hayden’s home allegedly turned physical.

However, Hayden later insisted that her spats with Brian never turned violent.

The former Nashville star was previously engaged to boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko, the father of her five-year-old daughter, Kaya.
