Off-White has unveiled a space-themed collection for spring/summer 2020.
The Milan-based fashion house held a presentation at the Centre Pompidou on Thursday night as part of Paris Fashion Week, however, founder Virgil Abloh was not in attendance, having announced earlier this month that he was taking three months off to focus on his health.
Drawing in celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Olivia Culpo, Tyga, and Halsey, the show, titled Meteor Shower, kicked off with a recording of the voice of Dr. Mae Jemison, who became the first black woman to travel in space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
“The fundamental concept is to illustrate a woman’s power,” explained Abloh in the show notes. “To show that her spirit is indestructible by natural forces. She can withstand a ‘meteor shower’ both metaphorically and physically speaking.”
To open, Adut Akech walked the runway in a white shirtdress with heavy steel earrings. A number of outfits which merged Abloh’s interest in streetwear and sculptural silhouettes followed, with a white dress with parachute-esque skirt proving to be a highlight, as was a parka coat matched with sporty separates.
The designer had fun with the theme too, cutting round holes in tops and trouser legs, with the quirky motifs meant to resemble “craters formed by falling rock,” and also refer to the ‘cheesehead’ hat worn by fans at sports games in Wisconsin, where Abloh attended university.
He also cut holes into an updated version of Off-White’s Jitney handbag, with the design making it nearly impossible to store anything inside.
To end the spectacle, a line-up of models walked the runway in white ensembles topped with utilitarian accessories, while sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid modelled hot pink dresses at the conclusion.

Rapper Tyga is owning up to undergoing treatment for hair loss by promoting his doctor online after he was dragged into a Twitter dispute between Nicki Minaj and her ex.
The Rack City hitmaker, 28, found himself mentioned in Nicki’s online rant on Tuesday (14Aug18), when she slammed her former boyfriend Safaree Samuels for allegedly making up claims that she once stabbed him with a knife, and accused him of stealing money from her.
She also revealed she had paid $10,000 (£7,900) for Safaree to undergo failed treatment to restore his receding hairline, and claimed he used the same specialist as Tyga – the ex-fiance of her good friend Blac Chyna.
“I should’ve never paid for that gyatDamn (sic) hairline!!!!” she fumed. “It fell back out cuz God don’t like ugly…!!!! Tyga s**t ain’t fall back out!!!! Y’all went to the same doctor!!! Yours fell out cuz GOD DONT LIKE UGLY (sic)!!!!!!”
Safaree responded by insisting that although they both underwent treatment on the same day, it wasn’t from the same doctor, and instead of trying to dismiss the claims, Tyga decided to embrace the cosmetic enhancement, and gave his medic, Dr. Craig Ziering, a shout out on Twitter.
“The (plug),” he captioned an advertisement for Ziering. “Tellem Tyga sent u (sic)”.
Dr. Ziering has since been inundated with inquiries from potential clients, telling The Blast his phone “has been ringing off the hook” ever since the unexpected Twitter promotion.
However, he stopped short of confirming he had treated Tyga, because he prides himself on “keeping all clients confidential, especially in Hollywood”.

French Montana is branching into fashion after teaming up with online retailer boohooMAN.
The label, an offshoot of the successful U.K.-based fashion brand Boohoo, has previously tapped the likes of Tyga and rap duo Rae Sremmurd, and is continuing its tradition of collaborating with music stars by hiring French to design a new collection.
“I am excited to be working with boohooMAN,” the hip-hop star said in a statement. “They have made me feel like part of the family. I look forward to launching this collection for the world to see.”
Moroccan-born French, who moved to America with his family aged 13, co-designed the 65-piece Spring/Summer collection, made up of bold tropical and leopard prints, colour variances and summer cuts, with the brand’s design team.
He was inspired by his Moroccan heritage, with the line also influenced by Mediterranean trends. Prices range from $14 (£10) to $85 (£60), and the pieces will be available globally from 12 April.
“We’re excited to announce our largest global partnership to date with international hip-hop artist French Montana,” said Samir Kamani, CEO of boohooMAN.com. “French directly appeals to our target audience and we’re excited to have him join the boohooMAN family.”
Grammy nominee French also fronts the advertising campaign, and has been posting images on his social media pages.
The 33-year-old released his debut album, Excuse My French, in 2013, and started dating Khloe Kardashian a year later, after she split from husband Lamar Odom. The pair have remained on friendly terms since their split in late 2014, though French has yet to comment on rumours that pregnant Khloe’s current boyfriend, and baby daddy, Tristan Thompson has cheated on the reality TV star. Basketball player Tristan has been accused of being unfaithful following the emergence of two videos which appear to show him kissing other women.

The Greatest Showman actress has chosen her favourite items from the British-based website’s spring collection for The Zendaya Edit, which will launch on 21 March (18).
“I know my fans, and I know what’s important to them,” Zendaya told WWD of the partnership. “They are chic, fashion-forward and love clothes, but like most people, wanna be able to ball on a budget. So I felt this was a perfect fit, to help them choose some easy pieces that aren’t just ‘trendy’ but also attainable.”
Items include cropped tops, slogan T-shirts and figure-hugging dresses, as well as denim options and more athleisure-based pieces. Prices will range from $11 (£8) for a white crop top to $76 (£55) for a cardigan.
Zendaya also stars in the campaign images for the collection, with the photos taken by Zoey Grossman at a private location in Los Angeles. One image from the shoot, which was styled by Zendaya’s frequent collaborator Law Roach, sees the actress and singer sporting a striped jacket and matching shorts, paired with a white T-shirt. as she perches on a kitchen breakfast bar, with her curly hair and rose-tinted sunglasses perfectly finishing the look.
Boohoo also plans to celebrate the launch of the collection with a ’90s-themed party in Los Angeles in the coming weeks.
Of the new collaboration – Boohoo’s fifth designer team up – the e-tailer’s senior communications manager Katie Curran said: “Zendaya is everything the Boohoo girl is, and we can’t wait to have her on board with us for Spring.
“Zendaya is an amazing role model for our customers and her successful career and her impeccable style are just two of the reasons why this is the perfect partnership for Boohoo. Zendaya was a pleasure to work with. We are sad to see the process draw to a close, but we can’t wait to release the collection on site now and celebrate the launch.”
Boohoo has previously worked with Charli XCX, Tyga, Vanessa Hudgens’ little sister Stella Hudgens and Jordyn Woods on designer collaborations.
