Tyrese Gibson is to star alongside Kurt Russell in Netflix’s festive sequel, The Christmas Chronicles 2.

The Fast and the Furious actor joins a cast which includes Kurt as Santa Claus, his real-life partner Goldie Hawn as Mrs. Claus, Darby Camp and Judah Lewis as the children Santa befriends, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley as their widowed mother Claire.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyrese will portray Claire’s new boyfriend. The actor shared the casting news on Instagram alongside the caption: “God has officially blown my mind!”

In addition, Darlene Love, who is known for appearing in the Lethal Weapon movies and for singing festive classic Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), has also joined the cast in an unknown role.

In the first film, which was a surprise hit for the streaming service in 2018, the children, Kate and Teddy, get more than they bargained for when they plan to capture Santa on camera on Christmas Eve. In the sequel, Kate, who is now a cynical teenager, is unexpectedly reunited with Santa when a mysterious and magical being named Belsnickel threatens to destroy Christmas forever.

Chris Columbus, who produced the original film, is directing the sequel from a script he co-wrote with Matt Lieberman. He is also producing with Mark Radcliffe and Michael Barnathan.

Goldie, who had a cameo in the first one, announced the sequel in an Instagram post earlier in December. Filming is now underway with the aim of being ready for next Christmas.

Tyrese was recently seen in police thriller Black and Blue and is gearing up for a big 2020, in which he will reprise his role as Roman in Fast & Furious 9 and appear in Sony’s Marvel movie Morbius, which stars Jared Leto.

Cardi B has joined the cast of Fast & Furious 9.

Vin Diesel, who produces and stars as Dominic Toretto in the franchise, revealed on Tuesday that the Bodak Yellow star would be appearing in the long-running action franchise by posting a video on Instagram which showed him and Cardi on the U.K. set of the film.

“Day 86 here on the set of Fast 9. I know I’m exhausted, we all gave every single thing we could for this movie, put it all on the table, put it all out there,” he told viewers, before Cardi added, “I’m tired – but I can’t wait. I ain’t gonna front, this is gonna be the best one.”

“We’re so blessed. The last day of filming in the U.K. All love always,” Vin continued. They both started laughing when the 27-year-old joked that she needed to take a nap and the video concluded with them repeating the film’s release date “May 2020”.

Fast & Furious star Jordana Brewster appeared to approve of the casting, as she wrote in the caption, “Yaaaaaasssssssssssssssss (sic),” with the raising hands emoji, and Meadow Walker, the daughter of late Fast actor Paul Walker, also gave her seal of approval.

It’s not known what role Cardi will be playing in the movie, which marks her second time acting in a film following Hustlers earlier this year.

In October, the rap star had teased that she had another acting job in the pipeline on The Ellen DeGeneres Show by saying, “Yup. I am going to film for a movie this month.”

Cardi B’s casting comes just a day after Vin revealed Latin popstar Ozuna had bagged a role in the film. They will join Fast & Furious regulars Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Nathalie Emmanuel as well as returning stars Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron and fellow franchise newcomers John Cena and Michael Rooker.

Latin music star Ozuna has landed a role in Fast & Furious 9.

Vin Diesel, who produces and stars as Dominic Toretto in the franchise, announced the Latin trap and reggaeton singer, full name Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, had joined the long-running franchise by sharing a snap of himself with Ozuna and director Justin Lin on Instagram on Monday.

“As you know, we have often found great talent in the music industry to cross over into film,” he wrote in the caption. “They are expected to leave all the accolades at the door to embrace the character with integrity… and that is exactly what Ozuna has done. Very proud of your work and role in Fast 9! Pa Mi Gente (For my people)! All Love, Always…#Fast92020 #YoungSantos #Ozuna #Fatherhood.”

The hashtags also revealed that Ozuna will either play the younger version or the son of Don Omar’s character Santos, who had a big role in Fast Five and a small appearance in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. He is a supporting character who aligns himself with Dominic’s crew.

The Puerto Rican star, who recently won two 2019 Latin American Music Awards, is also in talks to be part of the film’s soundtrack.

The casting marks his third appearance in a film following 2018 romantic comedy Que Leon and its upcoming sequel Los Leones, which is set for release in November, the same month his third album Nibiru drops.

Fast & Furious regulars Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, and Nathalie Emmanuel are returning for the ninth instalment, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron are reprising their roles, while John Cena and Michael Rooker are new additions.

Dan Casey wrote the screenplay from a story by Lin and Alfredo Botello. The film is set to hit cinemas in May 2020.

Charlize Theron has opted for a ’90s-inspired bowl cut for her appearance in Fast & Furious 9.

The Academy Award-winning actress made her debut in the eighth instalment of the action franchise, 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, in which she played Cipher, a criminal mastermind and cyberterrorist who coerces Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) into working against his team by holding Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky) and their son hostage.

For her part in the movie, Charlize sported platinum blonde locks which were styled into twisted braids, but on Monday, she took to Instagram to upload a snap of Cipher’s new hairdo – a short brunette crop with honey blonde highlights.

“She’s baaaaack #Fast9,” she captioned two snaps from the set of the film.

Charlize, 44, didn’t share any further details about her latest transformation, however, her longtime hairstylist Adir Abergel uploaded a post in which he explained that the bowl cut was influenced by “early images” of 1990s supermodels Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford by photographer Peter Lindbergh.

“I always feel so blessed collaborating with this insanely talented human @charlizeafrica. I was inspired by early images of Linda Evangelista shot by @therealpeterlindbergh. It took some rad people to make this one come to life,” the hair expert captioned a picture of Charlize, before adding a vintage photo of Linda and Cindy and writing: “I was inspired by Linda Evangelista and Peter Lindbergh early ’90s vibes for Charlize’s new hair look. This image of @lindaevangelista@cindycrawford has been in my brain for a long time.”

A number of Charlize’s celebrity followers were quick to praise her bold new look too, with Lily Collins writing in the comments section, “Love this!!” and January Jones adding, “This hair is next level good. But would only look good on you.”

Fast & Furious 9, also starring Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, John Cena, and Helen Mirren, is due to hit cinemas in May 2020.

Tyrese Gibson pokes fun at Dwayne Johnson over disappointing Hobbs & Shaw debut

Tyrese Gibson has refuelled his war of words with Dwayne Johnson by poking fun at the box office numbers for his Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.

The film debuted at number one in America on Sunday, but its $60.8 million (£50 million) domestic haul is the worst opening for a Fast & Furious film since 2006’s The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift – and Tyrese wanted to make sure fans knew.

“I have to show my respects for one thing… He tried,” Gibson wrote in a now-deleted tweet, before calling the box office take for Hobbs & Shaw “NOT a win”.

Tyrese sparked a feud with Johnson when he accused the action star of delaying the ninth Fast & Furious film with his spin-off.

In his latest post, he added: “Folks called me a hater… And attacked me for speaking out… Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value that one would assume it does… You know what maybe just maybe… The Rock (Johnson) and the crew will come dance with us again for #Fast10. We can all hug it out and get back to giving the true fans who have supported this franchise for 20 years WHAT they want… No hating I’m just pointing out the facts…

“Again my respects cause he tried his best… The world is clearly used to being severed (sic) its Thanksgiving meal a certain way… they want the table to ‘include’ all its flavors and all of its usual ingredients.”

Gibson appeared to have put his feud with Johnson behind him last month when he acknowledged it was “unprofessional” to have called his co-star out.

“I found myself being the messenger on behalf of various people associated to the franchise, but stupid me was the only one who went public about those feelings, which is my own fault,” he said during an appearance on Van Lathan’s The Red Pill podcast. “It’s not professional, it’s not cool.”

He also blamed his behaviour on medication he was taking at the time.

Tyrese Gibson joins Marvel spin-off Morbius

Tyrese Gibson is joining Jared Leto in Spider-Man spin-off Morbius.

It’s not known who the Fast & Furious franchise regular will be playing, but Leto, who also plays The Joker in DC movies, was confirmed as the Marvel villain in June (18). Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith was also added to the cast at the start of the year.

Marvel baddie Morbius was introduced to comic book fans in 1971. Written by Roy Thomas and drawn by Gil Kane, the character’s backstory reveals him to be a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease, with tragic results, leading to him being afflicted with vampire traits such as fangs and a thirst for blood. He wound up becoming an enemy of the web-slinging superhero.

Morbius is being directed by Daniel Espinosa, whose last film was 2017’s Life. The Sony flick is slated for a 2020 release.

Gibson is a comic fan himself, and brought out his own three-issue mini-series, Mayhem!, in 2009, published through Image Comics.

“When I was out (at Comic-Con promoting Death Race) I really got to know some of the fans and I was just asking questions like, ‘Look at you, you’ve got a full on Superman costume on or Batman costume,’ and they were just like, ‘I just love comic books.’ It was the first time I was ever exposed to that much selfless passion, to the point to where you don’t care how silly you may look – you don’t even consider it silly,” he previously told CNN.

“That really did something for me, because I’m motivated by passion. I thought I want to figure a way to be a part of this world, and that’s when Mayhem was born.”

He lobbied for the role of the Green Lantern in 2015, Photoshopping images of himself as the character across his Instagram page when it was announced a new movie was in the works at Warner Bros.

Dame Helen Mirren is reportedly set to return to the big screen as an action heroine once again.

The 73-year-old actress is allegedly set to reprise her role from 2017’s The Fate of the Furious (Fast & Furious 8) as Jason Statham’s feisty mum Magdalene Shaw, in spin-off Hobbs and Shaw, which also focuses on Dwayne Johnson’s US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs.

According to editors at The Sun, Oscar winner Helen will return as the matriarch of the hard-nosed Shaw clan, in the ninth outing in the franchise, and will reportedly up her action credentials by trading blows with baddies in the movie.

“Helen was such a hit in Fast 8 that there was a decision that she should return,” a source told the British newspaper. “She was hilarious bossing around Vin Diesel and Jason as the no-nonsense Cockney kingpin.

“The sight of Helen taking on villains with fight moves is a great selling point.”

Helen, who won an Oscar in 2007 for her portrayal of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen, was a surprise addition to the cast of the 2017 action movie franchise, which stars Vin, Tyrese Gibson, and Michelle Rodriguez.

But in an interview with website BuzzFeed, Helen admitted she “begged” for the role, as she was desperate to work with Vin, and wanted to be an action star.

“I’m dying to be a full-time action movie heroine,” she said. “You might get a bit bruised and so forth, but taking a few ibuprofen sorts that out.”

Meanwhile, Jason recently spoke about the upcoming movie and Helen’s involvement in the franchise to Collider.

“I know the last time (Helen) slapped me around the face and we got this little… We don’t want to take it too seriously,” Jason told the movie website. “At the end of the day, we want to have the laughs. We want to tear each other apart. We want to enjoy it. This has to be a ride.”

David Leitch is helming the movie, which will also star Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby, and begins shooting in London this week (ends18Aug18).

Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson is getting serious about launching his own clothing and fragrance line after filing documents to trademark the venture.

The Fast & Furious star announced plans for a collection via Twitter back in 2016, asking fans and followers to help him find “someone who has their marketing, distribution channels and creative team in place”, but nothing came of his plans.

Now, he’s keen to get the initiative off the ground and his Voltron Entertainment Company has filed legal papers to trademark Millionheir for a new line.

According to TMZ sources, Tyrese already had a font and style in mind for his logo back in 2016, and he plans to use the brand for all sorts of clothing. He also applied to trademark Millionheir in 2015, for aftershave and colognes.

The new venture caps a difficult few months for Tyrese, who waged war in court with his ex-wife Norma over custody of their daughter at the end of last year (17).

The former couple was ordered to enrol in “high conflict parenting classes” and Tyrese was told to attend therapy sessions in order to keep joint custody of 10-year-old Shayla.

The actor was awarded 50/50 custody of their daughter in mid-November, after agreeing to a series of conditions laid out by the judge overseeing the case.

Tyrese was told to enrol in classes focused on appropriate ways to discipline a child, according to TMZ.com.

The 39-year-old initially lost custody of Shayla after Norma accused him of being physically violent to her and their daughter. She sought a permanent restraining order banning him from contacting either of them, but the request was turned down.

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch has raced into pole position to direct the upcoming Fast and Furious spin-off movie.

The popular action franchise has so far spawned 10 films, including short film Los Bandoleros and 2006’s Tokyo Drift, which didn’t star any of the original cast in leading roles.

Dwayne Johnson’s character Hobbs is being given his own movies within the Fast world, with insiders claiming stuntman-turned-filmmaker Leitch is set to direct the first feature.

Sources have told Deadline that John Wick co-director Leitch is the frontrunner, with regular Fast writer Chris Morgan providing the script.

On IMDB, the film is billed as Hobbs and Shaw, which also references Jason Statham’s character Deckard Shaw, and is slated for release in July 2019.

The film itself has caused tensions between some of the Fast cast, especially Tyrese Gibson who has publicly fallen out with Johnson over the spin-off, blaming his decision to star in a solo movie for pushing back plans for Fast 9.

“If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter – I don’t wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about – I’m on your timeline cause you’re not responding to my text messages – #FastFamily is just that a family… We don’t fly solo (sic),” Gibson blasted in September (17).

“I’m simply trying to reach him cause he won’t call me back about this solo #HobbsMovie I want you to shoot it just not right now cause the #Fast9 release date has already been announced and we can’t let our loyal fans #FastFamily or our loyal fast and furious FANS down on any level from pushing the date (sic).”
