Kanye West’s Yeezy brand received $5 million in Covid-19 aid from the U.S. government, despite the rapper’s personal wealth.

Hundreds of thousands of businesses across the country accepted help from a federal fund that was launched by President Donald Trump in an effort to help firms during the coronavirus pandemic.

The $2 trillion (£1.6 trillion) stimulus plan was aimed at helping cash-strapped businesses keep afloat, particularly as lockdown restrictions hampered trading and supply chains, with the loans capped at $10 million (£8 million).

After pressure to disclose the recipients of the funds, the U.S. Treasury’s Small Business Administration released public records documenting every business who received a loan.

Among the big name recipients included Yeezy LLC, whose owner Kanye was declared a billionaire in April, Valentino USA Inc., Oscar de la Renta LLC and Vera Wang Group LLC. Good American, the clothing label co-founded by Khloe Kardashian, was also listed.

The documents state that the $2 to $5 million (£1.6 to £4 million) loan to Kanye’s footwear and clothing firm also led to 106 jobs being saved, while the financial boost helped Valentino salvage 281 jobs, Oscar de la Renta saved 42, and Vera Wang preserved 197 roles.

Khloe’s Good American brand, which she co-founded with Emma Grede, received $1.2 million (£960,000), according to People magazine, with 57 jobs subsequently saved by the bailout.

“We have a large wholesale footprint and all of our partners were forced to close their stores, with many shutting down warehouses and cancelling orders,” a Good American rep told the outlet. “Applying for and receiving the PPP loan was a necessary step we had to take to ensure the long-term survival of our brand and business.”

Chrissy Teigen bought five extra wedding dresses for her 2013 nuptials to John Legend because she felt guilty trying on gowns and not buying them.

The model-turned-cookbook author shared the news on social media on Tuesday, after one follower recalled witnessing Chrissy once buy a designer handbag just so she could use the shop’s toilet.

“One time I saw you at barneys and you bought a Celine bag so you wouldn’t feel guilty about asking to use the bathroom. I knew I loved you before but that solidified it,” the fan wrote.

“Wowowowow (sic) anyone that knows me knows this is very true all too often,” the TV personality responded.

A friend then sent a direct message to Chrissy detailing her pricey splurge, and the mother-of-two posted a screengrab of the exchange on her Instagram Stories for her fans to see.

The message read: “Sort of like that time you bought like 5 wedding dresses you knew you would never actually wear because you felt guilty about ‘just trying on dresses’ which is precisely the point of TRYING ON wedding dresses I love you (sic)”.

In the accompanying caption, Chrissy insisted the dresses were donated, by writing: “THOSE WENT TO GREAT HOMES.”

Chrissy ended up choosing three Vera Wang designs for the couple’s wedding in Italy, with her wearing different styles for the ceremony, dinner, and reception party.

At the time, she told E! News she simply couldn’t decide on just one dress for her big day: “Every time I went in (to Vera Wang) for a fitting, I couldn’t stop getting one… It’s just too pretty.”

Vera Wang has stunned fans on social media by sharing a snap of herself wearing a sports bra.

The 70-year-old designer has been taking part in tongue-in-cheek photoshoots while self-isolating in Miami, Florida during the coronavirus lockdown, and in one set of snaps posted on Instagram, Wang showcased her enviably toned abs, arms, and legs while wearing an orange Palm Angels sports bra, white denim shorts, a black hoodie slung around her shoulders, and a bejewelled clip in her long black hair.

“Category is… Backyard bling,” Wang captioned the shots, and later wrote in the comments: “When a bit of bling is needed…”

The pictures went viral after one fan spotted Wang’s age-defying figure and shared the snaps on Twitter.

“THIS B**** VERA WANG IS 70?!?!” they wrote, alongside two pictures of the iconic wedding dress designer.

Wang later replied to the tweet by simply stating: “Fact Check: Truth.”

“Tell us where the fountain of youth is please,” one fan asked, while another joked: “Tell us your secrets.”

Wang also shared another set of photos on Instagram, showing her wearing the white denim shorts paired with a graphic T-shirt, a snakeskin neon jacket, printed stilettos, and a bandana.

“Who says you can’t dress up to #stayhome? Cocktail hour….. puffer on the patio,” she wrote in the caption, and later posted another at-home photoshoot featuring her wearing a bright orange floor-length gown teamed with a matching face mask.

The designer recently told Harper’s Bazaar magazine that she’s been working out almost daily while in lockdown throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and her “workday fashion family” has been keeping her motivated.

Diane von Furstenberg has been bestowed with France’s prestigious Legion d’Honneur prize.

The Belgium-born designer was presented with the order of merit by the President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, at an official ceremony held at the offices of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris last week.

Von Furstenberg was selected for the honour in recognition of her work in supporting women’s organisations around the world, such as Vital Voices, and for raising funds for the new Statue of Liberty Museum in New York City.

In her acceptance speech, the 73-year-old noted that she was thrilled to be receiving the medal.

“I am accepting this Legion D’Honneur with pride and humility, knowing that recognition and honour give us a voice,” she smiled. “And when we have a voice, it is our duty and privilege to use that voice for those who have no voice. My heart is filled with gratitude.”

Von Furstenberg then went on to praise Lagarde.

“To receive this honour from you, is as much an honour as the honour itself,” the fashion icon insisted.

Elsewhere, Lagarde made a point of commenting on the continuing power of Von Furstenberg’s wrap dress, which was first unveiled in 1974.

“Your wrap dress beautifies women’s bodies without either restricting them or burdening them with too much sophistication,” she added.

Guests in attendance at the ceremony included Von Furstenberg’s children, grandchildren, and famous friends, such as Christian Louboutin, Jeff Bezos, Natalia Vodianova, and U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Previous Legion d’Honneur recipients from the fashion community include Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri and American designer Vera Wang.

Betsey Johnson has partnered with the team at Disney on a jewellery collection inspired by The Little Mermaid.

The fashion designer, known for her whimsical garments, has created a line of accessories influenced by the characters in the 1989 animated movie.

Items include a chain necklace with seashell and starfish motifs, a nautical-themed charm bracelet with beaded elements, earrings shaped like forks with purple flower details, and a pair of drop earrings with representations of beloved characters.

“Want to be the girl who has everything? Then check out the matching jewellery collection featuring bedazzled characters including Flounder and Sebastian along with thingamabobs aplenty!” a Disney representative commented of the line.

The pieces are priced from $65 to $175 (£50 – £135) and will be available to purchase from Disney’s website and select theme park boutiques from 21 February.

In addition, Johnson has also unveiled a new sequin-covered Minnie Mouse ear headband for the Disney Parks Designer Collection. She will be celebrating the launch with fans on Friday afternoon at The Disney Dress Shop at Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort in California.

Accordingly, the news excited many fans of The Little Mermaid, with model Tess Holliday simply writing “omg omg” on Johnson’s Instagram post, while another follower commented: “I need to go to Disney again. Betsey Johnson designed Little Mermaid ears!”

In the coming months, the likes of Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss, and Vera Wang are also set to release their own ear headbands for the Disney Parks Designer Collection.

Gwen Stefani thanked her mum and grandmother for giving her their sense of style as she picked up the Fashion Icon honour at the People’s Choice Awards on Sunday night.

The pop star revealed her matriarchs influenced her look and inspired her love of fashion as she hit the stage to collect her honour in Santa Monica, California.

“I always loved fashion, it was one of those instinctual things,” the 50-year-old said. “My mom would come home from school and my grandmother would have made her prom dress.”

Her designer pal Jeremy Scott was on hand to salute her at the awards show, insisting Gwen’s designs “always have a piece of her in them”, and adding, “She has never forgotten who she is or who we are.”

The former No Doubt frontwoman wowed in a blush Vera Wang gown with a huge black bow and walked the red carpet with boyfriend Blake Shelton, who was wearing jeans and brown boots.

She also discussed what it was like to have fans of No Doubt copying her style.

“I can remember being on the tour bus with No Doubt and looking out the window… and seeing myself and going, ‘Wait a minute, that girl’s copying me!” Gwen told E! News host Giuliana Rancic. “To have someone copy me was just bizarre – and it’s a great feeling, especially when you’re designing as well.”

Stefani, the brains behind fashion brands L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers, later revealed she would be handing her trophy to her 11-year-old son Zuma.

Vera Wang approves of Hailey Bieber teaming wedding dress with sneakers

Vera Wang is happy Hailey Bieber wore sneakers with the dress she designed for her wedding reception.

The model walked down the aisle in an off-the-shoulder lace Off-White dress by Virgil Abloh when she got married to Justin Bieber for the second time in South Carolina on 30 September. She later changed into a simple white slip dress by Wang and sneakers to party with guests at the reception afterwards.

And the 70-year-old bridal designer has insisted she approved of Hailey mixing the high-end piece with sportswear.

“I relate to her because I think I’m a teenager,” Wang joked to People. “I’m just very happy that she wore it and she partied in it and she wore it with sneakers and that’s just my kind of deal. It couldn’t have been a better thing for us.

“I was very happy (to dress her) because I adore her style… To me, she’s like a dancer: she has a long neck and back. She wears clothes in her own way and adds her own style to it. And she’s cool.”

Wang previously told Vogue that she was pleased to be involved in the wedding because she has had a “soft spot” for the Baldwin family since she made the outfits when Bieber’s actor uncle Billy married Chynna Phillips in 1995.

“I did her aunt Chynna’s wedding when she married Billy Baldwin many years ago,” Wang recalled. “That’s how I knew them then… Hailey’s dad (Stephen) came to the fittings, and it was really lovely and nice to catch up. I have a soft spot for the Baldwin family, so to even play a small part in Hailey’s wedding felt like full circle for me and was so lovely.”

In addition to the Off-White and Vera Wang numbers, Bieber, 22, also wore a silky halter dress by Ralph & Russo, a Vivienne Westwood minidress, and a Celine leather jacket emblazoned with the word “Wife” in chrome studs during the wedding celebration.

Designing Hailey Bieber’s wedding reception dress felt like a “full circle” moment for Vera Wang because she was involved in her uncle Billy Baldwin’s big day in the ’90s.

The model walked down the aisle in an off-the-shoulder lace Off-White dress by Virgil Abloh as she got married to Justin Bieber for the second time in South Carolina on 30 September. Over the weekend, it was revealed that Bieber changed into a simple white slip dress by Wang and sneakers to party with guests at the reception afterwards.

Speaking to Vogue about the creation, the designer said she was pleased to be involved in the wedding and noted that she has a “soft spot” for the Baldwin family since she made the outfits when Bieber’s actor uncle Billy married Chynna Phillips in 1995.

Wang designed the reception dress to be the opposite of the formal wedding gown.

“This was (definitely) more of the party dress. They were much more open to something seductive, light, and sensual (for this look),” she explained. “The wedding dress had a certain formality to it. This was meant to be the complete opposite. I love using the dancer reference with this because when I see her, I sort of see a ballerina.”

In addition to the Off-White and Vera Wang numbers, Bieber also wore a silky halter dress by Ralph & Russo on the eve of her wedding, a Vivienne Westwood minidress at the rehearsal dinner, and was gifted a Celine leather jacket emblazoned with the word “Wife” in chrome studs from the brand’s artistic director Hedi Slimane, who designed the groom’s tuxedo.

Taraji P. Henson always meditates before she attends a Hollywood event.

The Empire actress usually likes to take time out of her day to clear her mind and relax, and she has a specific ritual she carries out to calm her nerves prior to hitting the red carpet.

“Meditation is always a big part of my day, especially before a red carpet,” Henson told Vogue.com. “I cleanse the space with crystals and sage first, then move onto sound healing vibrations to soothe any anxiety.”

Henson took Vogue reporters behind-the-scenes of her preparations ahead of the Emmys red carpet on Sunday, when she wore a pink gown with a red cape that took more than 200 hours to make by the Vera Wang team.

The 49-year-old explained that she likes to wear gowns by the designer because she uses the outfits as her armour.

“Red carpets are always a bit hectic, but that’s why I like to wear Vera Wang,” the actress added. “She builds the best dresses and always makes me feel like I can take on any carpet.”

The TV star styled her chin-length bob in tight waves, and Taraji admitted her hair has a difficult relationship with styling products.

“One of the problems I have is dealing with my hair and scalp and trying to keep them healthy after hours and hours of being under the heat on a weekly basis,” she shared. “I’m actually working on something to address that issue that is going launch very soon at TPH by Taraji! It will help all women feel as good as I do.”

In July, she announced she was working on a haircare line named TPH by Taraji but its launch date is currently unknown.

Taraji P. Henson has tapped Vera Wang to make her wedding dress for her upcoming nuptials.

The Empire star revealed who would be designing her gown when she arrived at the 2019 Emmy Awards on Sunday, after sharing the news that she will tie the knot with retired American footballer Kelvin Hayden in April 2020.

“Vera Wang is definitely making my dress. The wedding is 4/4/20, I leaked it,” the 49-year-old told Access Hollywood. “We haven’t pinpointed the silhouette yet.”

Taraji recently confirmed she won’t have bridesmaids or a maid of honour, and is determined for her big day to be an intimate affair with really good food.

“I told my wedding planner, ‘Make it pretty, fun, make sure the food is good and a bomb DJ.’ No bridal party, I’m not a bridezilla… please, I just want to say my vows in front of the people that I love. Eat good food and have fun. That’s it!” she laughed during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Taraji and Kelvin were due to wed over the summer, but the Oscar-nominated actress took some well-deserved time off to enjoy herself instead.

“A wedding you have to plan in a year… I’m just going to take this summer and be normal, take a vacation – a couple, a few – I have a girlfriends’ trip coming up, then me and my fiance have to do something (sic),” the actress explained.

Taraji, who has son Marcell Johnson, 25, with late high school sweetheart William Johnson, began dating Kelvin in 2015. The couple got engaged last year.
