Kanye West is on a quest to create the “perfect” hoodie for his Yeezy brand.

In a cover story for The Wall Street Journal Magazine’s April 2020 issue, the rapper discussed the popularity of his fashion collaboration with designers at German sportswear giant Adidas, which was first launched in 2015.

While Yeezy is well known for its Yeezy Boost sneaker line, Kanye revealed he has now turned his attention to hooded sweatshirts.

“The hoodie is arguably the most important piece of apparel of the last decade,” he stated to the publication, before noting that his “perfect” design will be made from a neutral coloured fabric such as flax or dusty stone, “slightly cropped at the waist”, and be as “heavy as a winter coat”.

Kanye would ideally also like the garment to retail at around $60 (£51) and be available to be purchased from major retailers across the U.S.

“I like Costco as an idea. I like Walmart, too,” the 42-year-old commented, going on to explain that he sees Yeezy becoming a market leader around the world. “I believe that Yeezy is the McDonald’s and the Apple of apparel. In order to make the Apple of apparel the next Gap, it has to be a new invention. To invent something that’s so good that you don’t even get credit for it because it’s the norm.”

The vision of the perfect hoodie came to Kanye in July last year, and he has been pursuing it ever since. Workshopping ideas with fashion heavy hitters including Laurence Chandler, designer at Rochambeau, and Dov Charney, founder of American Apparel, the Stronger hitmaker soon began creating prototypes and samples.

However, Kanye has since became distracted by other projects, including a vest design, and a last-minute show held as part of Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.

North West stole the limelight by performing a rap during her father Kanye West’s Yeezy show on Monday.

The six-year-old made her musical debut during the presentation, held at the Espace Oscar Niemeyer venue as part of Paris Fashion Week.

Kanye joined North onstage halfway through her rap solo and smiled proudly as she confidently performed to the star-studded audience while wearing a custom-made Yeezy bright fuchsia padded gilet.

“I will never do bad things / Walk to the street / What are those / I have new shoes, they’re really cute,” she adorably stated to the crowd.

Mum Kim Kardashian was perched front row at the extravagant show, alongside Kourtney Kardashian and her seven-year-old daughter Penelope, and shared a series of videos of her eldest child’s performance on her Instagram Stories.

“I’m so proud of my Northie!!!!! Her 1st performance had me in tears! She had an impromptu performance on stage at her dad’s Yeezy Season 8 fashion show! Shout out to @zazathecreator, North hopes you like the remix!!!” the 39-year-old wrote, noting that North’s rap was a riff on five-year-old rapper ZaZa’s track What I Do.

Kanye’s latest Yeezy collection, his eighth for the label, featured a line-up of monochromatic designs as well as a preview of the highly anticipated Adidas Yeezy 451 sneakers, which are expected to launch later this year.

Kim was also spotted wearing designs straight from the runway, including an oversized suede beige coat, nude bralette, and grey textured trousers.

Halima Aden once refused to walk in a Yeezy show due to a disagreement over the length of her skirt.

The Somali-American beauty was due to make her New York Fashion Week debut in Kanye West’s season five ready-to-wear show back in 2017, but in an interview with British newspaper The Observer, she recalled how the moment ended up being a watershed moment for her modelling career.

After Halima was presented with an outfit by the rapper’s team, she acknowledged it “was just not going to work” as the skirt sat above her knee.

“Even then I knew: walking away when something doesn’t fit is always better than feeling you need to force something,” the 22-year-old shared, adding that while she was disappointed, she felt empowered as she returned to her hotel. “And then, without having to say anything, they called back: ‘We have a second option.’ I tried it on, and it was perfect. I just knew it was a pivotal moment in my life.

“The people who you want to work with, they’re willing to work with you just the way you are.”

Halima went on to make her groundbreaking appearance in the show wearing a floor-length fur coat.

She also noted that later that same year, she walked for Max Mara in an outfit that was designed just for her.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue star shared her plans to use her career to make a difference and emphasised how she wants to continue mixing her modelling with activism.

“My career in fashion is not just, ‘I want to work with this brand, I want to get on that catwalk.’ We’re not sitting here talking about ‘Buy this heel, because this heel will make you feel sexy,'” she fired. “I’m proud that I can say I combined fashion and activism. I can’t do one without the other.”

“This is the official announcement that I’m partnering with adidas,” he wrote in the caption besides a video showing the Adidas logo besides his name handwritten in capital letters. “Thank you adidas for trusting me and believing in my ideas and pushing them to become even better. Kanye West gave Kim Kardashian “bad anxiety” ahead of the 2019 Met Gala by revealing he didn’t love her sexy look.

The reality TV star stunned at the annual event in a custom wet-look Thierry Mugler beige dress – which, after eight months of preparation, her Yeezy mogul husband wasn’t a fan of.

“Like the corset, underwear, all that vibe, I just feel like I just went through this transition of being a rapper, and lookin’ at all these girls… I didn’t realise that that was affecting like my soul and my spirit,” he said in Sunday’s instalment of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

After adding he’s not that into his wife showing off her body now that he’s “someone that’s married and in love and the father of what’s about to be four kids”, Kim fired back: “The night before you’re going to come in here and say you’re not into the corset look?

“You’re giving me really bad anxiety… I don’t need any more negative energy.”

While the rapper insisted it “affects” him when his wife’s pictures are “too sexy”, the KKW Beauty mogul told him: “You built me up to be a sexy person and have confidence! Just because you’re on a journey and you’re in a transformation, doesn’t mean I’m in the same spot with you!”

Ending the argument, Kanye calmly said, “Okay” and walked out of the room, as a stunned Kim said to her friends: “That’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Kim worried about how she’d fare going to the bathroom in the tight-fitting number, suggesting: “Honestly, if it’s an emergency, I think I pee my pants and then have my sister wipe my leg up.”

Duckie Thot is a big fan of using cocoa butter and swears it is the key to “glowy” skin.

The Australian model, who is of South Sudanese heritage, has quickly risen up the ranks of the fashion world since launching her career in 2013, having landed work for the likes of Yeezy, Fenty Beauty, Oscar de la Renta, Moschino, and L’Oreal.

Now, Duckie has shared some of her favourite beauty products, and noted Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Lotion is at the top of her list.

“After every single shower, I’ll sit there for a good 10 minutes and lather my whole body with cocoa butter,” she said in an interview with New York Magazine’s The Strategist. “It just stays on all day, and your skin looks so glowy. It’s not too thick. Sometimes oil gets on clothes, which is really annoying, but I love the cocoa butter – it just goes on super-nice.”

Duckie went on to explain that she is a big fan of Simple’s Cleansing Facial Wipes for removing make-up, and usually washes her face with Clarins’ Gentle Foaming Cleanser.

“It’s just so thick and creamy, and just a small pump gives you so much product. It’s really gentle on my skin, though I’d say it’s good for all skin types, honestly. It just makes your skin feel really great after you use it. I take it with me everywhere; I use it morning and night,” the 23-year-old said of the brand’s formula.

Elsewhere in the chat, Duckie shared that she can’t get enough of Apple’s AirPods, the Savage x Fenty Padded Eye Mask for when she is travelling, and more unusually, champions fibre supplements from Metamucil.

“I drink the powder with water in the morning; it’s a cleanser, an inside cleanser. I feel like it’s great to have with breakfast, and it just gets you going for the day. It helps me feel more active,” she praised.

Kanye West has thrown his support behind the debut collection from his former Yeezy designer, Maisie Schloss.

The 27-year-old presented her inaugural womenswear collection for her label Maisie Wilen at the Night Gallery in Los Angeles’ Arts District, which featured a range of body-hugging, boldly patterned dresses, leggings and leotards inspired by rhythmic gymnastics.

Using vivid colours, warped prints and unusual materials – including embossed vinyl upholstery fabric – the collection featured a slip-dress in an orange and teal flame print, and a stretchy, ruched-front jacket in an abstract snake print.

West revealed that his highlight of Schloss’ debut collection were a pair of over-the-knee slime boots dipped in goo-green Latex.

“I told her that’s my favourite thing,” he said at the event.

The Life of Pablo rapper spent nearly two hours at the low-key, friends-and-family event, stopping to shake hands and chat, but declined interviews.

Schloss was a former womenswear designer for West’s Yeezy label, and she is the first to emerge from the 41-year-old’s recently announced brand-incubator programme, which provides seed funding, mentorship and studio space.

“I had the pleasure of working with Kanye for a number of years,” she said backstage before the presentation. “And when he approached me about this partnership, I was absolutely floored. It’s a dream come true.”

Schloss, who will present Maisie Wilen to the fashion industry in Paris later this month, was taken aback by West’s dedication.

“The variety of creativity he has and projects, and how much vision he has into things, he has music and fashion and will get into smaller side projects he’s suddenly a master in. He’s truly a genius,” she gushed.

Kanye West is launching a grant to help support emerging designers.

The rapper, who launched his Yeezy label in 2015, has set up a creative incubator programme to offer financial assistance and guidance to up-and-coming fashion designers.

The first recipient of the grant is Maisie Schloss, a former member of the Yeezy womenswear design team, who told editors at Vogue.com she wouldn’t have been able to achieve her vision without Kanye’s support.

“Yeezy is a really special environment for growing and developing a career. When I started, I was just an assistant, but the highly creative and unconventional atmosphere allowed for me to have visibility and input in a wide variety of projects,” Schloss said. “Kanye very generously offered to support me; he truly cares about sharing resources, creating opportunities for creatives to grow and be recognised.”

Schloss will launch her brand, Maisie Wilen, at an event in Los Angeles this week and in Paris later in June. It will feature an 85-piece resort collection, with items priced between $100 (£79) and $950 (£751).

“My first collection is inspired by rhythmic gymnastics and robotics, specifically studying how elegant fluidity emerges from rigid system,” the Parsons School of Design graduate continued. “Strongly driven by print, the clothes themselves are playful and fashion-forward but rooted in very wearable shapes.”

The rapper has previously offered his support to designers such as Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of menswear, Virgil Abloh, and Jerry Lorenzo, the founder of streetwear label Fear of God. He has also worked with young creatives such as archivist David Casavant and stylist Ursina Gysi.

Kim Kardashian had a pair of sunglasses from her debut collection made in a smaller size for her daughter North West so the youngster wouldn’t steal hers.

Last month (Apr19), the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star announced she had teamed up with eyewear brand Carolina Lemke on an initial collection of seven styles.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Kim shared a sweet snap of her daughter in a pair of glasses and revealed she designed some shades specifically for the five-year-old.

“I made her these kid size @carolinalemkeberlin sunglasses because I really wouldn’t share mine lol,” the 38-year-old quipped. “I love my fashionista Northie so much!”

The designer, who also founded the successful KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance lines, went on to share the extent of North’s love of fashion, admitting that she’ll often find her trying on her clothes.

“I didn’t think my daughters love for my clothes and jewellery would happen so soon,” the reality star confessed. “I’ll literally be working and come home to find North dressed up in all of my things.”

Last month, Heat magazine reported the youngster was set to follow in the footsteps of her father and Yeezy founder Kanye West, 41, with the release of her debut clothing line.

North looks set to curate the collection, which sources claim will be titled Sunday Best, and is said to have enlisted her six-year-old cousin Penelope Disick to offer a helping hand.

The collection will reportedly be inspired by Kanye’s Los Angeles-based church services, dubbed Sunday Service, which he took to Coachella last month.

Kylie Jenner’s daughter Stormi Webster appears to be following in her mother’s stylish footsteps as she welcomed deliveries of infant-sized Adidas and Yeezy apparel.

Kylie, 21, took to Instagram Stories on Sunday morning (07Apr19) to share an unboxing video, giving fans a glimpse at the selection of items that had been sent for the 14-month-old tot.

In the clips, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star showed off the youngster’s new pairs of Adidas Falcons, along with what appears to be a selection of apparel, which came delivered in a personalised box.

The sneakers are off-white in colour with pale blue detailing at the top, and are complete with a dark panel around the base and a chunky sole.

The Kylie Cosmetics mogul also shared a look at Stormi’s mini copper-coloured Yeezy Boost 350s, which had no doubt been gifted by Yeezy founder and the youngster’s uncle, Kanye West.

The beauty mogul previously had a million-dollar deal with Puma, which ended after two years, and the star now joins sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian, who also have close ties with the athletic company.

Stormi is Kylie’s only child with rapper Travis Scott, 26, and it was reported last month that she is keen to expand her family and give her daughter a sibling.

“They’ve spoken about having another baby,” an insider told Heat magazine. “Kylie would love to give Stormi a sibling and wants another girl. Travis wasn’t into it at first, but he’s happy to go along with it if it makes Kylie happy.”
