Alexa Chung has treated her social media followers to a star-studded throwback picture from the 2011 Met Gala.

The fashion designer and Next in Fashion host shared the star-studded snap from the prestigious event, letting her followers see the candid snap she took of Yoko Ono, Rihanna, Salma Hayek, Lauren Hutton, and Stella McCartney in the bathroom at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“Ancient maybe even Blackberry photo of a Met Gala bathroom scene,” the 36-year-old captioned the post. “Yoko, Rihanna, Stella, Salma, Lauren. Solid line up.”

In the photo, the Umbrella hitmaker can be seen watching designer McCartney adjusting her black one-sleeved gown, which had a see-through lace side panel, as philanthropist and activist Ono talks while wearing custom Karl Lagerfeld.

Meanwhile, iconic supermodel Hutton can be seen rocking a Giorgio Armani ensemble and taking a drag of her cigarette, while Hayek looks directly into the camera wearing a nude Alexander McQueen gown.

Chung herself wore a short, sheer silver Christopher Kane yoke dress teamed with a matching clutch and black platform heels.

“Put this in the history books,” one Instagram commented on the snap, while another joked, “Somebody hang this in a museum.”

The model hasn’t been the only one to take pictures in the bathroom at the prestigious fashion event. At the time, ethical fashion campaigner Livia Firth also shared similar snaps from the toilets of the Met Gala, which featured Rihanna, Ono, McCartney, Hayek, Hutton, and British fashion journalist Hilary Alexander.

The 2020 Met Gala, which was due to take place in May, has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Miley Cyrus has had the word “freedom” tattooed on her right hand amid her ongoing divorce from Liam Hemsworth.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker was inked over the weekend by celebrity tattoo artist Daniel Winter – also known as Winter Stone – who shared snaps of the new design on his Instagram page.

“FREEDOM #freedom #mothersdaughter #mileycyrus #singleneedle #delicatelysharp #tattoo,” he captioned the black-and-white shot of the body art, which is located just above Miley’s knuckles.

Accordingly, a number of the 27-year-old’s social media followers were quick to speculate that the tattoo refers to her split from The Hunger Games star in August.

On Sunday, Winter also shared a picture of Miley’s next tattoo – a copy of a personal note from Yoko Ono that reads: “I’m proud of U, Yoko”.

“Handwritten note to @mileycyrus from @yokoonoofficial. What a special tattoo for you Miley! I was honoured to tattoo this for you! #singleneedle #delicatelysharp #tattooedgirlslover_id,” Winter added.

It is believed the note came after Miley covered Yoko and John Lennon’s classic Christmas song Happy Xmas (War Is Over) with the couple’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, as well as Mark Ronson, last year.

The popstar also sang about her freedom in her track Mother’s Daughter.

“Don’t f**k with my freedom / I came back to get me some / I’m nasty, I’m evil,” she crooned in the song.

Miley announced her split from Liam back in August and was quickly spotted cosying up to The Hills: New Beginning’s star Kaitlynn Carter on a vacation in Italy. She’s currently dating Australian singer Cody Simpson, while Liam has been quietly seeing actress Maddison Brown.

Jean-Marc Vallee to bring John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s love story to cinemas

In-demand director Jean-Marc Vallee has signed on to turn John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s love story into a new movie.

Studio heads at Universal Pictures are in negotiations to option the rights to the untitled drama, written by Anthony McCarten – the brains behind the new Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, and the Big Little Lies director is slated to take charge of the project.

McCarten, who also adapted Darkest Hour and The Theory of Everything for the big screen, will produce alongside Ono.

Deadline sources reveal Vallee, whose most recent movie hits include Wild and Dallas Buyers Club, turned down the chance to replace Danny Boyle as the director of the next James Bond film to take on the Lennon and Ono project.

He reportedly agreed to make the movie after reading the script and meeting Yoko Ono.

Vallee’s production partner Nathan Ross tells Deadline, “We are all huge Beatles fans, and this is a dream come true.

“There were inner and outer struggles John had, and family turmoil as a child, and things she (Ono) had to endure before John’s tragic death. The thing we loved about the script was its stark honesty – you see so many biopic scripts where you can see that the co-operation of the subject’s family had something to do with the editorial, and that wasn’t the case here.”

Lennon first met artist and musician Ono in the late 1960s, and she became his love and life partner as the Beatles star went from becoming a music icon to a peace activist.

The couple split in the mid-1970s but reunited and were largely inseparable until his 1980 murder in New York City.

“We’ll have to make a deal for the music, but with Yoko producing with us, we’ll have access to the estate and the library of songs,” producer Michael De Luca explains. “I’ve been listening to John’s songs forever, but as we developed the movie, I became aware of just how profound is the emotional impact of the music and their legacy is upon me.”

Sarah Paulson, Tracee Ellis Ross and Amber Heard are among the big-name stars stylist Karla Welch has tapped to front her new collection for Levi’s.

Karla, who is regularly ranked among the world’s most powerful stylists, has called on her celebrity clientele and friends to help launch the Levi’s x karla 501 Day collection.

The line will be available on 20 May (18), the 145th anniversary of Levi’s receiving its rivet-pocket patent, resulting in the birth of the original blue jeans.

For the black and white campaign video, Yoko Ono donated her song Yang Yang in support of gun control organisation Everytown for Gun Safety. Other stars to feature in the clip and portrait series include Busy Philipps, SZA, Yara Shahidi, Hailey Baldwin, Amber Valletta, Michelle Monaghan and America Ferrera.

Talking about the collection, Karla explained that she added her own twist to some classic Levi’s pieces.

“It’s all very customisation focused,” she said in a statement. “They’re original designs based on the parameters of utilising a 501 or an existing Levi’s pattern.

“I wanted to imagine what the future of vintage was. If people inhabit Mars 200 years from now, what are the kids going to wear? This idea of creating something that would eventually become an iconic piece of vintage clothing is the basis of the whole collection.”

The collection, which is made up of jeans, jackets and shirts, marks the second time Karla has collaborated with a major brand. Last year, she teamed with Hanes on a line of white T-shirts.
